So if you didn’t notice I checked for lyrics for shutdown but this reaction was filmed about a week ago and no English lyrics were uploaded at the time. I’ll check out the lyrics on my own.

when she put out her album, i hope you look at the lyrics for shutdown, it is a truly cultural reset (literally). it's an erotic song about love between women (she wrote the lyrics) and the song had positive reactions in korea, that's so important for the korean LGBTQ+ community especially since she's a very famous and respected artist. i really appreciate her for putting this song out and i'm proud of what she've done.

i dont really know why moonbyul cant see seori but theres lots of theories regarding it. one being that seori acts like moonbyuls thoughts about her and byul is trying to distract herself by reading, going on her phone, etc. and they finally make eye contact at the end when seori comes home

Mirani,if i’m not mistaken,was the first female rapper to be on the semifinals of Show Me The Money,a show where rappers(mostly man) “fight” for the money prize and fame and the show is out there for almost 10 years so she’s really something.Her singing rap is really unique and she’s talented and funny as hell(that’s why she catch the public eye),you should check her out later on!!

Her album is describing the arc of a relationship. G999 is the initial infatuation and Shutdown is when the relationship moves on to love making. This is not an interpretation Moonbyul has flat out said Shutdown is an erotic song.
To be honest, Moonbyul's radio show, Studio Moon Night, had became her venue to meet her future collaborations. Mirani and Seori were both guested on her show. Even Xydo he guested on the show before their collaboration came out. I think Aiki, the dancer is also collaborating with her on her upcoming title show. :D
Check out Mirani's songs, when they exchange numbers, Moonbyul immediately called her for the G999 song.

Also as to the Not seeing her from what I understand the idea was to represent Moon's world being a little dull until she finally met Seori and then when she meets Seori for their night the whole set brightens up and things become clear and more bright and complete. Like she wasn't just going through the motions anymore.
Looking forward to Moonbyul marathon but warning, her other songs are just as good or even better so prepare yourself :D

I feel like Seori not being seen by Moonbyul through most of the video represents that either the mv is from her perspective and we're just seeing her thinking about what MB's character might be doing and what they had done together before (with the "she said"s), or it's meant to be MB's character going through her day but having Seori's character in the back of her mind, which is why she tries to distract herself with so many things (tv, book, cellphone, food) until Seori is back with her again (in the morning).

Thank you so much for reacting to her, I loved it!! I know you said you're reacting to her album, just wanted to let you know she also released an intro song to it, called Synopsys, it's on Mamamoos official channel. Also, my interpretation of the Shutdown MV:
Moonbyul is talking to Seori's character on the phone the whole day, and the Seori we see is just in her imagination, so when the actual Seori finally arrives at the end, they can see each other.
One more thing hahaha Moonbyul has been releasing movie scripts to go with her songs, you can find the translations on Twitter, they're really short, and I think you would love to read them on your own time!

i'm sure there are similar thoughts already, but i believe the mv itself for shutdown is a representation of what it's like to have someone on your mind all day, no matter what you're doing, which explains why seori doesn't appear next to moonbyul until her part comes in (: and at the end when she sees her, is when seori has presumably returned home
Hi Caitlin! Not sure if you will see this but Moonbyul just had a comeback on February 20th 2024, title tracks "Touchin & Movin" & "Think about" off her FIRST full album which is absolutely fantastic. Highly recommend checking them out, and if you still do album reaction please please please do her album. Its incredible i promise!

im glad youre checking out shutdown because it truly was a cultural reset. everyone had already told you about the lyrics and you probably already know what was the context. but fun fact about the storyline mv, moonbyul actually didnt see seori because it was like an imagination about how seori is always at the back at her mind no matter what she does. another fun fact was when filming the mv, seori actually thought moonbyul was intentionally ignoring her in the story and worked hard acting 'seducing' moonbyul lol.
