"Choose Me" has so many great RnR chops, it's kinda unbelievable. From Saiki's old-school phrasing and cadence; MISA's driving bass, her special riff after Kanami's brilliant, rocking main solo, and her pulls at the end of the song that really funks it up; to Kanami's original composition, off-beat octave stretches during the verses, and her addition of a second uncomplicated yet super tasty solo; to Akane's unique snare & tom flurry that launches the choruses; and to Miku's octave-down, in & out vocal backup and lyrics... all makes "Choose Me" a throwback rocker that surprised me when I first heard it - and I'll bet most anyone - that they would come up with this western-style, rock 'n roll classic.
Of course, after years later, it's not surprising at all coming from this important band of geniuses who are almost single-handedly bringing back the joys and soulfulness of rock. Here's a great live MV of "Choose Me" that's not quite as punchy do to the mix, but still good: th-cam.com/video/HcqitbXgigU/w-d-xo.html

I was watching this and it occurred to me that if this was your first time watching BAND-MAID you might still be impressed, but now having spent time with the band, you are understanding the details and nuances and you just light up haha. Its magic as Miku might say and the same effect they have on many.

Before discovering BAND-MAID, my rock playlist consist of mostly Skillet songs as well as Within Temptation (Symphonic Metal). Having said that, Skillet has a lot of great rock songs. Although, I think collectively BAND-MAID has a lot more even though they have not been around as long. Just shows you the quality of the songs they produced.

I just discovered Skillet (late) through that recent CSProductions reaction plus several comments on other Band-Maid reactions. To me, they're much better than most bands with "that sound." OTOH, nobody else has "that Band-Maid sound." Reactions/reactors get a lot of disdain, and in a lot of cases it's richly deserved, but I think there's some definite value in the top 5% and the comments and recommendations from those who watch them. Now I have to check out Within Temptation.

    • @xagorvangard

@@stevehall5128 Skillet is a great band. However, to be honest I don't enjoy all of their songs as much as I enjoy every BAND-MAID song. On the other hand Within Temptation I do enjoy the majority of their songs as well. It's different genre of rock though. Not for everyone. If you know Nightwish, they were in the same category before. However, WT has veered into different directions over the years but I think they are going back to their roots with their latest release. Their singer Sharon has an amazing voice. Their music are worthy of epic movie soundtracks. You should check out their live concerts like Black Symphony. It's a big production.

Just a great rock song. Miku, back then, with her 1st Zemaitis, she now has a limited run (50) of her own signature " Flappy Pigeon" Zemaitis, which, unfortunately, is only sold in Japan. She (as well as the rest of Band-Maid) just keep getting better and better!!!👍👍🤘🤘🤘

This studio version is where you'll hear that mid-range punch of MISA's bass and Kanami's guitar cutting through the mix as it should be. You are right, this song and this recording are so tight. It is as fresh now as it was the first time I heard it. Good job.

Like i wrote before under your Skillet reaction, they are also one of my top bands... But Band-Maid is on another level for me. What makes them special and standout is their songwriting or should i say mainly Kanami´s songwriting. Add one of the best rhythm sections in rockmusic right now, put some extra flavor with a lot of different genres in one song, give me awesome melodic solos, let me hear SAIKI´s leading voice and MIKU´s over the top energy and VOILA there you have another great unique sounding masterpiece. I always said: I wasn´t impressed by another band like this for 10-15 years and since a short period of time i have to say: EVER!
Hard workers, really charismatic, care a lot about their fans, always improving, always challenging themselves, LIVE they are a FORCE and their music is always making you happy no matter how tough your day has been! Greetings from Germany

I agree, Band-Maid are in a different dimension, I do not follow bands, until Band-Maid. Misa pulled me in. I did not realise it was the same Band that made Thrill.
i was looking for Bass shredders, and Misa was suggested. I saw and was impressed, but the full band was a bit much, but one day I clicked and listened to Dice and that was it "Down the Pigeon hole.!!! "
Rich layered complex, high energy ...... FAN mode switched VERY ON HARD
      Go Band-Maido!!!!!!

This is probably their most popular song and a live staple. It has the most listens on Spotify and is consistently near the top on TH-cam. I can see why. Almost anyone would like this song. Not heavy, but very melodic and definitely rocks. Two really good, melodic solos. Great drum fills, and a cool, jazzy bridge. There are other songs I love more, but I could listen to this any time and would be happy to hear it.

One of the great things about Band-Maid is that _all_ their songs grow on you. I can't even count the number of times I've seen people saying "I used to disdain X song, but now it's one of my favorites." Kindred with that is the thing of seeing a song name and going, "Oh, I haven't listened to this in a while" and playing it and realizing that you missed a bunch of amazing stuff before. I think that happens with a lot of bands, but especially with Band-Maid.

I remember seeing Skillet at Spirit West Coast (Laguna Seca) back in the early 2K's. They were definitely rocking with a great message. I think they are best served in the "mission fields" were they are today. As for the PRS, I've had a tab opened on my desktop for 6 months now on a PRS SE Paul's guitar in Trampas Green. I want to click buy but I have an "OverLord" (wifu) that wants a kitchen remodel completed. She even says I'm a bass player, who is not gigging anymore. What use do I have with a guitar? I told her I met my match in Kanami, and I want to be with her in the spirit of playing the PRS. Now, I wear a hard hat in the kitchen remodel, after a slight fall I had onto a frying pan in bed, in the middle of the night sleeping. Weird, Po! I don't think I'm going to tell her about the Flappy Pigeon guitar or the Black Cloud "Assassin's" Bass. My head is not that hard, Po! or is it, Po!

A brilliant song. It puts me in a good mood every time and believe me, I must have heard it a thousand times. Band Maid is Life, Band Maid is Happiness. A pill of Band Maid every six hours. If you want to begin with the complexities of Conqueror check their songs Wonderland (live in their YT channel) or Bubble (MV).

I've known Skillet since their first album and like to listen to a few songs from them now and then, but there are many songs that don't exactly sweep me off my feet. I don't know why, whether it's the songwriting or the instrumentation, but somehow I get too much of it very quickly. I haven't had that feeling with Band-Maid so far, which is maybe because the girls like to travel a bit further back in time to adopt elements for their songs. I like that old-school rock 'n roll and/or punk feeling and I think they are generally more versatile and experimental with their music, which is very noticeable in a few songs from the new album. 'Manners' being an example for that old school feel and 'Black Hole' probably has a lot of songwriters shaking their heads in disbelief. I know you can argue about talent, but I see B-M clearly in the lead.

Still my fav song from them. I love drums and Akane's work overall but I don't know if it's the synch between Kanami's tasty riffs and Saiki's voice that I prefer this song over the rest. It's not even as powerful as Black Hole or Warning! (I am more into fast paced songs, the faster the better) but this makes me feel something inside like any other. Those amazing Kanami soloes have something to do with it, I'm sure! I'm addicted to the bandmaidine and I don't even regret it
