That one seemed like impending disaster at every turn! Near the end, I knew exactly what that tree was going to do when it fell. And it did. Am I just good at geometry or was it _that_ obvious? ;-) Glad you both are still intact. Another good video.

Tree climbing aid - Any reasonably healthy person with all their limbs can climb a coconut palm with ease if they add three foot of cloth between their ankles. Maybe try a length of seatbelt, or borrow a long bar towel from your local bar. Rope will work, but will probably hurt a bit. Tie it to each ankle. Hug the tree with your ankle rope, then stretch up a bit and hug it with your arms. Take the weight with an arm hug, then slide your feet up a bit. Repeat. If you add a strap at the top half of your body, you can just lurk there in the sky and saw bits of tree, recover grappling hooks, or just tie treetops to your ship. It's a tiny, lightweight bit of kit that gives you a coconut harvesting super-power when you need it. Take a rope up with you if you need to pull up a chainsaw or just clench it in your teeth. Whatever works for you.

Those trees weren't rooted into the ground, so that's why we didn't climb them. They were just HUGE broken branches from other trees that posed a threat to our stuff! Thanks for the good info though!

Ok, I said this in another video, but you guys need to go down and get a couple ash bannister handrails at 10-15’ long (they can be up to 18’ apparently) to be used as barge (or quant, or setting, or punting) poles. then you want a solid bell shaped piece of wood for the end so the pole doesn’t stick in the mud. Those would make your lives waaaay easier when you want to avoid something or to turn around when the electric motor isn’t up to the task. I mean, this boat is just a barge for all intents and purposes, those have been moved by barge pole for hundreds of years, you can look them up online, theres quite a bit of info on them. A gaffer hook or a shorter stick (6’-8’ or so) would probably (or something similar) be good for pushing branches out of the way as your moving down the river.

We never thought of handrails... Great idea!
