The Trees has phenomenal drumming.......wait, every rush song does.
Xanadu absolutely rocks though, but yeah Neil was the drum GOD of all time.
I *LOVE* The Trees
Hemispheres is the pinnacle Rush album. Amazing ❤
EXACTLY!
even when they're not phrnomenal, they're always super tasty
You are carrying his torch well. Saw you live more than once. Neil would be proud.
Early DT albums Images and words plus Awake are still masterpieces to this day.
Neil Pearte was a drummer of drummers. He pulled off his drumming skills that most of us would never even think of let alone try to do especially in the drum solos. RIP Professor.
I love seeing g a seasoned musician play songs from his youth with such joy
The amount of recorded material we have to remember him by is a true blessing.
Neil was the goat.
I love how he talks about Neil the same way I talk about him. My "Rush" is Dream Theater and my favourite fills are from Metropolis Part 1, Dance Of Eternity, and Panic Attack.
Neil Peartwas the guy who influenced me to play drums and I still play today.
Thanks Mike and RIP Neil
Lakeside park appreciation🔥🔥
I love subdivisions. Great tune and great lyrics that really hit home in Canada iykyk
The Master learned from the Jedi Master. Way to carry the torch. Neil would be Very Proud of you.
Because he's the best
Neil Peart = GOAT !
Portnoy just seems like a genuinely cool guy, and an amazing drummer.
If they do a reunion and get back together Rush, I've been saying for years Mike portnoy is the guy to play drums
I don’t think the fans would accept that. I get what you’re saying tho and I agree with you but I think RUSH as we knew it is done.
I think if they were to do anything, Mike would be a great choice, and I'm sure Neil would approve. It could never be Rush again...
I think it is hard they come back, Geddy can't sing well, his voice is getting worse and worse, since a long time!!
BUT, if they did and called Portnoy, they should warn him three months in advance! The two last months, Mike would spend preparing for the big spot! The first month, he'd spend crying like a baby!
@@Nothing-db1zy Some people just can’t be replaced and Neil is 100% one of those people. His impact on the band was too severe.
@@johndardi1334 His style was quite unique, it's a tough task thinking of someone to replace "oh captain, my captain" on the drums!
Neil is/was the big King on drums!
Bonzo and Cozy Powell great drumers too!
Ya ROCK DUDE!
He's so skilled, knows so many great parts from great songs, and yet still uses the same fills in every song.
*Sextuplets intensify*
I was honestly very impressed with how much he smashed Alex's parts in the Modern Drummer AVH tribute videos (and on Alex's kit no less!). I think that MP has different priorities this days when it comes to his own parts, but he definitely has a deeper musical vocabulary than he seems to give himself credit for.
Peart & Gonzo Bonham were my 2 favorites as a kid in the 70s.
Same here, been a musician all my life the last 25 years professionally i was 8 when i got my first drum kit was a 3 piece Ludwig with blue silver pearl shells got a Tama 7 piece at 12 and that's the age i was exposed to Rush and saw them on the Moving Pictures tour. I combined the 2 kits into one mis matching huge kit, learned every Rush album all the way to Grace Under Pressure when i started getting serious about guitar that i had been noodling with for a while. I've now been playing guitar over 30 years but drums are in my heart and i still play them as much as possible, i write and record allot by myself now play all the instruments myself because i am done touring in bands it's something I've always wanted to do but never could because i was in working bands.
Loved Neil, and I am a bass player!
He was the perfect drummer for Rush! He wasn’t the first, but he was definitely the most influential drummer in Rush!
Me to Mike. Just played all the world's a stage yesterday
Lakeside Park is an awesome song off my favorite Rush album
He was able to take all of those Neil fundamentals and craft his own unique beats and fills, which was a huge part of DT's sound.
I *knew* Rush was a big influence on DT the moment I heard their songs, it's nice to know I was correct in that feeling
Hope Geddy and Alex see this. Maybe a one off tour someday????
Me too all the way! Him and Bonham!
RIP Neil
i love rush, man❤
Love the PROFFESSOR! Love your work too brother
One more Rush tour with Portnoy please.
My first DT album was Metropolis 2. The whole time hearing it the first time all I could think of was how much the drumming reminded me of Neil.
Metropolis is my favorite by DT.
I like subdivisions because we already know he's a kick ass percussionist, so the cymbal and groove make it that much more enjoyable.
Also, not enough people point out how good Neil’s drums sounded. Just a great tone he pulled out of them.
The fills in YYZ makes the neck hair move. And yet, of all things to mention I guess I wasn't wrong sonically. 🤘
Me to!
If you learned Neil's drums...you are truly a professional. !! Well done brother. !!!
Respect
Portnoy e Peart, quer algo melhor. Dois gênios, o que mais dizer. Gratidão por isso.
I'm right there with you I love Rush
I love Mike.
R.I.P. Neil Ellwood Peart
By emulating the best, you become the best.
I air-drummed along to RUSH as a teenager, and then air-drummed to Dream Theater as an adult 🤘😎
❤I miss him everyday thanks today I miss him less
Totally agree
Fenomeno !!!!
If and i mean IF..they reunite.
This is the man..
Rush ❤
The riff after the YyZ
TriTone intro,..
what an education,..
Passage to Bangkok mid section
- Didacts & Narpets
🙏❤🌹 Neil 🌹❤🙏
Very cool.
Amen brother rest in peace Neil
We all did in that era.
Neil was the Genius!!
My DREAM is that MP togethers with Lifeson and Lee and play a tribute to Peart.
Your my "biggest hero" in drums aside from Joey Jordison and Jimmy The Rev Sullivan, rock on dude you inspire ao many🖤🤟🤟🤟
Same
About time someone pronounced his name right 😂😂😂
Neal Peart is in the top 5 drummers in the world
Number 1
@@gerardoa9179especially if the category is overplaying.
@@craigcampbell1843 You came all the way here to say that? Not necessary, or accurate for that matter. Go back to AC/DC or whatever drumming you like and let those of us who enjoy mastery at work watch someone who appreciates what Neil did.
Im a guitar player and Neil makes me wanna play drums
I really just want to hear him finish YYZ
Geddy, Alex and Mike? Yup. I'm there.
Wow, i like sound of Toms and Octoban
Fiyyah!!!!!
Mike I met you in person at a Fates Warning show in 1994 in New Britain Connecticut. The first thing I said to you was your the greatest drummer of all time. And that your better then Neil Peart!
That’s who put behind the kit for a tour
real fans pronounce his name right👍
🤘 true that - but it show u what kinda guy Mr Peart was - i nvr hear of him correcting anyone bout it
- 🌹🥁🌹
@Iam-still-noone except in the I Love You Man rush video😂😂
@@razzle2112 i aint seen the whole movie but if this was from it an not just a sketch 🤔
they sure did - slapa da bass - on the pronouncement of it when he eat Mr Pairts sandwich
@@Iam-still-noone yeah it was the sketch classic😂
He even pronounces Neil’s name correctly :-)
You should have listened to Carl Palmer.......
If Neil was The Professor, Portnoy is definitely the Star Pupil.
To all the people that argued with me over the years that Portnoy was better or as good as Neil. There ya go. Right from Portnoys own mouth. Nobody was or ever will be as good as neil!
One of the first things I ever played sitting on a kit was yyz and a soad song. I never hit a kick pedal ever. I just practiced on a chair with sticks. Probably 10 or 11. Then 12 I learned tom sawyer using rock band practice mode as I moved the TV to the kit. Hit play ran to the kit and hit play on my ipod. You could tell what rock band notes were toms or not. Crashes ride snare were all obviously the same in rock and so it was a great tool for me. Not complication in needing the sheet music knowledge. Nailed the cymbal hit during the drum solo. Most struggle.
Saw portnoy do a solo and was like. He is stealing from Neil!!! What a loser. But I didn't get the influence part of things yet.
Neil Peart and Bonzo were the masters of a more simple time..
Does dude use two different types of drumsticks?
🎉💯
I believe Zeppelin was the 🐐 band but “technically” Rush was. Show me a band where everyone mastered their instruments.. Alex,Geddy,& of course Neil.
One thing Mangini can't do for DT , do entertaining ' Advertorial stuff ' like these podcasts like portnoy. But for the music... I can't say anything its about taste 😅
Nothing sounds like Neil including this guy
What I find amazing is that drummers can play Neil's parts which is great, but I have yet to hear anyone duplicate the sound, the tonality is always different. 🤔
Neil was it, that's that! Your drums look like jewelry! And sound 🎼MYSTRO!!! Neil taught many, made us all better drummers. But im sure you have seen the drummer on TH-cam. Plays that stuff with one hand, while drinking his coffee and smoking a joint. 🙄 That dude could make a person go crazy! 😂 😊
I was just like you only I play the guitar
No drummer can even come close to neil. However the list of the greatest drummers besides neil peart:
1. Danny Carey
2. Mike Portnoy
3. David Grohl
4. Chad Smith
5. Tommy Lee
6. Steve Smith
7. Brain Dailor
8. Buddy Rich
Pneuma : Hold my beer
By a second, I thought that was Lars playing.
Don't forget Neal's major influence for this type of drumming the great Carl Palmer also Terry Bozzio Simon Phillips bill bruford Vinny c a l l u i a t a rod morganstein Steve gadd Aynsley Dunbar😊
He sure plays "YYZ" better than Danny Carey.
I started with Neil then moved on to Portnoy
What's he doing now? Dreamtheather woulda never been without him.
Of course he was dream theater is just American Rush
Just you have more intricate fills and play a million miles an hour doesn't mean that you are a good drummer.
Portnoy is sounding like sh*t these days
All that skill and knowledge and you can't hear how TERRIBLE those acrylic drums sound?!
I don't get you one minute your saying the legend john Henry Bonham now your saying neil pert😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢
I was never impressed with Neil pert. All his drumming was fast rudimentary. sounded like marching band, drum corps drums in a rock song. very corny sounding
Dave, your snare sounds awful
I reckon this shed builder was the guy Geddy was going on about who had no class when Neil died
That's a big, blind assumption.
@@paulwilson6342 you gotta admit, he's not a very subtle chap.
What makes you think that? What did Geddy say?
@@johncalvo1743 I know the manager
@@scottblack9213 Who's manager? Rush's? Ray Daniels? But what did Geddy say? What did Portnoy do to piss him off?
Still time to repent mike! Jesus saves!
If you listen to Rush play with their old drummer you can actually hear the whole band.
Was ? Whos it now ?
