Very useful tips; thanks Emma. Another one to add, re the steamer: if like me you're 'allergic' to ironing, (a good steamer will work horizontally as well as vertically), I run it over my duvet cover and pillows once the sheets have been changed. It looks like hotel bedding in a few seconds without all the hassle of trying to do it on an ironing board. The heat from the steam also gets rid of any germs, so this is an added bonus!
Instead of fabric softener I use white vinegar. It helps to soften too. Essential(!!) if the water in your area is very hard. I’ve done it for years, and it’s both cheaper and better for the environment 🌍 And no, the fabric won’t smell of vinegar ☺️ But THANKS for the advice on washing denim in cold water. I wash mine on 30 degrees, and they turn out fine, but zero degrees makes more sense! 👌🏼
I do that too - i mix a teaspoon of white vinegar (25%) with a small cup of water (maybe 100-125ml) and dont mix with the laundry detergent but fill in where you would fill the fabric softener
Emma and Simon, I'm saying this again thank you for keeping our minds off this damn COVID 19. I have washed the crap off my denim and now i know what I am doing wrong , thank you thank you! How are the babies handling the isolation?
Useful tips! Actually quality cashmere manufacturers recommend NOT to use fabric softener. I was surprised to see this but it really does work ( although I always hand wash) . A thorough cold rinse and flat drying as you recommend. I lay mine flat on a clean towel and roll it up , squeezing very gently.
Emma, thank you so much for the daily videos. They are helping me so much right now. I would love to see a video on how you care for your Missoma jewellery please as I have collected quite a few pieces but a lot of it has tarnished. I avoid all the obvious things like showering in them etc so I'm a bit miffed. Your collection looks lovely and sparkly. Please help with tips. Thank you. May you, Simon and the fur babies stay safe x
yes for handbags and shoes and accessories care! sorry so late.... I may have seen this before, can't remember. Love all your videos and glad to have you back!
I also use washing bags. Especially for bras and knitwear and lace. I wouldn't wash at 0 degrees though. (Except for my doormat). It can be 20 degrees. I would hand wash angora or cashmere. I even machine wash wool coats at 10 degrees. Saves the cleaning costs.
Yes, please! My handbags will love you forever!!!! P.S. those tiny pair of jeans will keep me laughing through the quarantine ahahahahahahaha See you tomorrow :)
Thanks, Emma, useful and hilarious at the same time! 😹 Regarding jeans and trousers (and I hope this isn't TMI) I always use panty liners which means I can wear them a bit longer (5+ wears).
i love that debobbler , i found the exact one and you can even use it on sweatshirts and jog bottoms . being a big size it's really quick and effective on jumpers , a real wardrobe must :) . think i will invest in a steamer as i totally hate ironing and pop my jeans in my tumble dryer to take out creases when they are almost dry x
I use a debobbler on my clothes, even used on a second hand blazer. I’ve recently bought a steamer, which will be here soon. Cannot wait for that. I will use it instead of washing some more expensive clothes so often. I’ve also read using de-ironised water is better (about £1 from Waitrose) instead of soft/hard water. Debobbling is so so therapeutic so can imagine steaming will be too.
Good info! I do the same but make my delicate wash by mixing 1/4 teaspoon Dawn dish soap (US) with one cup of cold water and a drop or two of essential oil of choice, I too use a delicates bag and dry on a towel. Take care, Emma
Thank you, this was super helpful. I am so glad you mentioned not going to the dry cleaners, I haven’t gone in years and thought I was a bit of a freak. But now I know I’m not the only one. And I am the same way about my denim, I try not to wash it very often, but I have to admit I haven’t been turning it inside out, so I need to start doing that. I would love more of these care type videos... accessories, and also basics... any tips on caring for whites tees?
Oh yes!! This I also would like to know! I spent a fortune on my blazers because they have to go to the dry cleaners... wish I could just wash them myself but I’m so scared to put them in de machine.. they were so expensive... what if the ruined??
Right? I put one in the machine by accident and it was ruined. I still wore it because the colour transfer was only on the inside. I just recently replaced it. Perhaps she puts them in the freezer or steams them?
Im a thrifter and refuse to go to the drycleaners. Because I didnt pay much Im not as scared to just put a blazer in the washingmachine. Ive bought quite a few blazers, washed them all. And ive ruined only one, because it was just too old (the lining disintegrated). Most of my blazers are vintage and all are good quality. Sometimes if theyre wool I will have to iron or steam them. But most will only crease a little which I dont mind.
I thought I knew everything about doing laundry, but I learned several things from you. You are an expert! I wash all of my clothes inside out (like t-shirts, night gowns, etc.). I've always wondered why people wash jeans every time they wear them, unless you don't wear underwear!
Morning emma .. All good info here ..Another good tip is . To hang some moth balls in a net bag .. on the hanger with your jumpers ..(wooden ones are best) too keep those pesky moths at bay . 🦟X
Dearest Emma, I love your content and your sense of humor.😂. I’m 62 years old and love your style and always take away something new from you videos. Love , love love you. P.S. my boyfriend laughs every time you say “Hello Everyone”.
Can’t recall where I picked up this nifty trick, but if your liquid laundry soap cap gets all goopy, throw it in with the wash and it comes out clean as a whistle 👍😄. I also throw my dry jeans in the dryer with a dryer sheet to get rid of the crunch and wrinkles.
I personally like the same style of "debobbler" (or sweater shaver) you have shown but I prefer the electric ones. I found that battery operated ones die quickly and the batteries need replacing (or recharging if you've got a USB rechargeable one). The electric ones seem to have the best oomph as well which is great for my chunkier knit sweaters. I can also use mine on upholstery that is wool and gets bobbled.
I really don't understand why many people hate ironing😀. I love ironing one of the reasons I.love washing is because I will iron inn the end. 🤣 Thank you Emma for this videos. ❤ May I request for spring summer must have shoes and how to take care of them.
Hi Emma! Great video! Some of my new M&S cashmere jumpers have become loose because I didn't try them flat and hung them on a hanger to air dry instead. Do you have any tips for returning them back to their original size? I was so upset when I realised they started to look bigger on me. I'm too scared to put them in the tumble drier... xxx
hello, Emma and Simon! thank you so much for your videos, keeping me sane. one small favour - there was a brief glimpse of your grocery shopping in one of the blogs I believe - lost it, can't find it and really want to re watch it!!! dying here!!
Thank you so much for this video and all the others. I have recently discovered your and am so grateful. Also, am sitting down and doing a bobbling session while watching this (have the same debobbler thanks to one of your other videos) :). Next on the list are the laundry bags and steamer. See you tomorrow!!
Thanks for this video very informative, would love to see the handbag and shoe care video got a few bags and shoes that I need to clean but not sure how, hope you and Simon and keep safe and thank you for the distraction even if it's only for 10 mins 😘
Hi Emma, Thank you for all the wonderful tips, very useful! So funny the tinny jeans :):) Thank you for you videos! I'm looking forward to see how you take care of your shoes and handbags :) Stay healthy guys! Lots of Love!
Enjoying your videos very much Emma especially these times. I would be interested in shoe care, especially how you care for your leather soles and what you do with patent leather if it scratches. My by far shoes had an unfortunate encounter with a grid and now I'm scared to wreck them even more.
Excellent video Emma. I wash and dry my delicate clothes exactly the same as you. However I peg my denim jeans on the line and don't dry them flat. Thank you again! 🌹🌹
Great tips Emma! Thank you! Yes, I would like to know how to refresh my handbags. I made the horrible error (years ago) of using shoe polish to freshen up the colour on a handbag bag!!! As a result, I ruined a suit I was wearing with that bag.
I would find how to clean jewellery really useful especially as it’s worn next to the skin and what with sweat and make up it can lose its shine I think x
Great tips, thanks. I’m new to buying cashmere so happy to know I’m looking after it right 👍🏼. Thanks for you both keeping me sane through this crazy time x
I was taking my cashmere or merino Italian thin wool tops to the dry cleaner, and although they state they use ecology-sound methods, I wonder! I will try your wash methods for all the items you. mentioned. Stay safe and well. Thanks for your posting gems.
Very informative!! Thank you! So...I need to firstly buy a cashmere jersey, and then DEFINITELY a de-bobbler. (Just kidding...need a de-bobbler anyway, but a cashmere sweater was one of my goals for this year. Weirdly. LOL) xx
Yes please care for handbags and wallets, credit card holders!
With a leather oil you recommend, please.
Here’s how professional Emma is with this channel. She renovated her entire basement JUST to make this video 😉 thumbs up for that!
🤣❤️
Very useful tips; thanks Emma. Another one to add, re the steamer: if like me you're 'allergic' to ironing, (a good steamer will work horizontally as well as vertically), I run it over my duvet cover and pillows once the sheets have been changed. Omg, the tiny jeans at the end totally cracked me up 😂😂😂
❤️
You: "Hello, Everyone!"
Me: "Hello, Emma!"
My 2 yo: "Emma? Who's Emma?"
My husband: "Emma is Mommy's friend."
=)
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Same here as well 😊
Aaaaaw too cute! 🙂
Hahahhaahhahaha...
❤️

But THANKS for the advice on washing denim in cold water. I wash mine on 30 degrees, and they turn out fine, but zero degrees makes more sense! 👌🏼
Do you add the vinegar into the laundry soap or in the fabric softener dispenser? How much do you use? Thanks in advance.
I do that too - i mix a teaspoon of white vinegar (25%) with a small cup of water (maybe 100-125ml) and dont mix with the laundry detergent but fill in where you would fill the fabric softener
Thanks, Emma, for vlogging everyday.
Great tips Emma. How do you wash your winter coats and blazers? Do you use a dry cleaner for those?
No I will steam them and then spot clean any areas which require it 👍
Emma and Simon, I'm saying this again thank you for keeping our minds off this damn COVID 19. I have washed the crap off my denim and now i know what I am doing wrong , thank you thank you! How are the babies handling the isolation?
Love the “Barbie” jeans!
Great tips! I've gotten into the habit of washing all my clothes as if they're delicates. Cold, minimum spin, minimum time in the wash machine!
I almost spewed my tea 😂 - the tiny jeans were hilarious!!! You’re the best!! 😍
Useful tips! Actually quality cashmere manufacturers recommend NOT to use fabric softener. I was surprised to see this but it really does work ( although I always hand wash) . Your channels have been such a comforting place for me over the last few weeks. Thank you
Yes please the care for handbags, shoes and accessories x
Yes! please a video on your handbags and accessories!!! Thank you! Cheers!
When this isolation period is over, can we all come round to yours for a cuppa. You are so sweet. Thank you for these ‘up beat’ videos.
I also use washing bags. Especially for bras and knitwear and lace. I wouldn't wash at 0 degrees though. (Except for my doormat). It can be 20 degrees.
I would hand wash angora or cashmere.

Your videos are so light and you are so nice... they bring me joy! 😊
I would love a video on how to take care of bags and shoes! Thank you for your tips and have a lovely Sunday ❤️

I wash my delicates in a pillow case spot on Emma and I wash my denim inside out I find it helps less fade aswell! 👌🏻
The best video ever! Thanks a lot. And your laundry is an ultimate dream!
Seriously an educational and humorous video. Love it
Good info! I do the same but make my delicate wash by mixing 1/4 teaspoon Dawn dish soap (US) with one cup of cold water and a drop or two of essential oil of choice, I too use a delicates bag and dry on a towel. Take care, Emma
I just love hanging out with you ❤️ i have found my long lost british sister ✨🌈
This is great, I should give this a try. My dry cleaning bills are insane, especially at the end of the season when I have them cleaned to put away.
Thanks Emma. I always turn my denim inside out. I use Woolite for darks for denim.
Excellent suggestions! Thank you Emma!
Yes, would love a video for leather care!
Such a helpful video! Thank you for making. Be great to see a 'how you store' items (mainly cashmere)
Yes yes for the bags and accessories care video! 🙋🏻♀️Please🤪
Enjoying your videos Emma. Thanks for posting everyday. Stay safe.
I would love to see shoe care, thanks for todays video! x

great tips Emma! would love to see a similar video on bags/shoes/accessories...
But How about Your Blazers?!😱 I only use drycleaning for mine! How do U not ruin them? 😜😅
Oh yes!! This I also would like to know! I spent a fortune on my blazers because they have to go to the dry cleaners... wish I could just wash them myself but I’m so scared to put them in de machine.. they were so expensive... what if the ruined??

I will largely just steam them and do a spot clean on any areas that may have become a bit dirty (due to the dogs for example) 👍
Emma Hill With that hand steamer? I seriously need to get me one than 🤔. But I also get make up stains on the collar... do you spot clean them too?
I thought I knew everything about doing laundry, but I learned several things from you. You are an expert! I wash all of my clothes inside out (like t-shirts, night gowns, etc.). I've always wondered why people wash jeans every time they wear them, unless you don't wear underwear!

Great video idea and great tips ! I definitely gonna try some of these! Love from Nuernberg, Germany 💓
Do you iron/steam your jeans? I have a pair of 7 jeans that went all rippled as the elastin was destroyed and now look like seersucker fabric.
Loved this video :) and the soiled jeans bit, so funny! yess please for shoes and bags maintenance and also blazers🙏🏻
Great tips! How do you keep your denim fresh between washes for the 5-8 wears?
I'd love the handbag and shoe care video as well 😊
Melinda Martin use the steamer 🙌🏼
You can also put them in the freezer overnight, it gets rid of any odours ☺️
Wash denim inside out!
You can use the steamer or leave them in the bathroom while you shower :)
Great video as always! Please please please do a video for care of shoes and handbags. Thank you!!
Enjoying your videos very much Emma especially these times. I would be interested in shoe care, especially how you care for your leather soles and what you do with patent leather if it scratches. My by far shoes had an unfortunate encounter with a grid and now I'm scared to wreck them even more.

Oh no! 🙈

Great tips, Emma! The tiny jeans were 😂😂😂
Thank you, Emma. I hadn’t thought of denim inside out. PS. laundry area looks wonderful.
Thank you ❤️
Hi Emma, do you wash your wool trousers in the washer as well? I trying to buy a pair and they are all dry clean only!
Love the clip of the tiny jeans!
‘Although crap would count as a stain’ 🤣🤣🤣🤣 keeping it real. All the feels ❤️❤️❤️
I would find how to clean jewellery really useful especially as it’s worn next to the skin and what with sweat and make up it can lose its shine I think x
Last shot with the doll jeans... priceless😂😂😂😂😂💕💕💕💕💕
wow very informative and helpful tips, would love if you could also share washing handbags and shoes 💙💙
