    The upside of cold weather travel is you can re-wear some clothes a bit more. The key is multiple thin layers instead of bulky knits/sweaters. I also like a separate pajamas but I do something I can wear out in an emergency. Like leggings/shorts and a tshirt or a simple dress.

    • @veganderlust
      @veganderlust  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      That’s a good tip with the pyjamas 🙂. In Auckland I went in that blue pyjama to the laundrette and I did feel a bit awkward 😅

      @@veganderlust I didn't think they WERE PJs. Looked like a yoga outfit to me. I'm surprised you felt awkward. I thought Kiwis were as casual as us Aussies

      @susie9893 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I agree with you about not doing the bulky sweaters but last time I don't think I took ENOUGH. Didn't take any sweaters at all - just merino long-sleeve t-shirts. This time I'm planning to take some thin merino sweaters too.
      But I've also tightened my thermal layer game and have become pro pleather vs denim

    Finally, a truly minimalist travel video! I would love to travel that long with only a personal item bag. The longest I've gone was a 3 day trip to my brother's house and was able to use some of his wife's shampoo and conditioner and other toiletries, so I didn't have to bring all of that. Two months is impressive!

      @@veganderlust I'm an Aussie, and considering our mild climate you gotta wonder wtf they're carrying there.
      Although I remember my first backpacking trip and I took a massive backpack (but most of it was guidebooks, books and papers) 🤭 Thank goodness we live digitally now (and I never take my laptop with me - but I don't need it)
      Maybe they're camping when not in the city?? Extended hikes thru our great national parks etc

    • @susie9893
      @susie9893 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The longest trip I've done with a 14L was a week - but it was in winter. Now that I travel more minimally I could easily see myself taking very little in summer (I just avoid that cos $ and crowds).
      Although I did do a summer trip fairly recently and had to do checked luggage! Summer is Xmas time in my country and most of this was presents (I have a large family). I took very few clothes and they were all very light except for some 3/4 denim pants that I wore on plane with some trainers + lightweight jacket. I was gone a month and regretted none of what I took and needed no more. The items I took for me would have easily fit in a daypack - including the sandals I took

    • @veganderlust
      @veganderlust  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, the weather has not been good 🙈. I didn’t need the dress in New Zealand but today I arrived in sunny Australia and hopefully there’s plenty of days I can wear it here ☀️. I don’t like the way travel towels feel, creeps me out 😅, but you’re right it would be more convenient

    • @susie9893
      @susie9893 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@veganderlust yeah I'd probably have taken a dress (or one of my skirts - all of which can also be worn as dresses 👍). But I guess it would've depended what the weather was predicting. Being an Aussie it's a much shorter flight to NZ for me - easier to do a last minute weather check.
      But I definitely wouldn't have taken that towel. Maybe a decorative travel towel (I'm still trying to find 1 I love) that can double as a sarong. I know ppl who swear by the Turkish towel but I tried this 😖 not for me. (But I'm not one for sunbathing - we don't recommend that in Australia - skin cancer cases very high)

    The tip with traveling first in the summer is good - I did that too. There are so much packable backs today - I love my Osprey collapsible daypack, perfect for shopping - it doubles as a dirty laundry bag - and affordable for 30€.
    Because of back pain I had to reduce my luggage - but I still use a heavy deuter pack that's really comfortable. Now I can even travel with a 30l pack for 1 week in winter - or longer if I wash my clothes - some warm merino clothes really help.

      @@destinabliss yes, I have a metal nail file and never had any problems so far.
      But it can depend on the country you travel to, I’ve traveled a lot in Europe, also Asia and Australia with that backpack. I’ve not traveled to the states with this backpack (that was before my minimalist packing days), so I’m not sure if the guidelines are more strict in the US

      The only time I used my small toiletry scissors was to cut my identification photo for a metro pass 😂 super happy I included them

    Great video! Can I ask what are the measurements of your bag when packed? Some airlines are very strict and have to be within 40x30x20cm

    • @veganderlust
      @veganderlust  ปีที่แล้ว

      I’m sorry, I don’t know exactly. But if it’s not completely stuffed it fits the Ryanair measurements of 40x20x25cm

      If it fits under the seat then it's gonna be fine for carryon. You only have to worry if you're only paying for personal item only (and that they rarely weigh or measure - except possibly Ryan and Wizz)

    Для меня еще много лишнего😂 нет бритве, мылу в бруске ( только кусок шампуня), крему ддя каждой части тела, много одежды, лишняя пара обуви. Кошельком не пользуюсь очень давно.

    How many kg was this? After your trip was there anything you’ll change?

    • @veganderlust
      @veganderlust  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think it was about 10kg, so a bit more than allowed for a personal item bag 😬 but since the bag looks rather small nobody checked.
      Altogether I was pretty happy with the things I packed. Just the flip flops where annoying, it always took ages for them to dry, so a different pair would have been better since it rained a lot. Also I almost never used my laptop. And I had to buy a big bottle of sun tan lotion but I expected that anyway.

      Hi! Thanks :). Actually, since I filmed this video, I got a new backpack and it opens like a suitcase. I got a very colourful model but they have more simple colours as well. I'm planning on doing a video about it, for now, I wrote a post about it in case you want to check it out: veganderlust.com/cotopaxi-allpa-35l-review/
