- "Ambrosius", the first track taken from Gnome's upcoming album "King". Out May 6th, 2022 on Polderrecords.
Music by Gnome - / officialgnomeband
Recorded & Mixed at Rockstar Recordings by Frank Rotthier - Mastered by Larsson Mastering
Video by Rutger Verbist
--
Gnome packs a bigger punch than their name suggests: combining irresistible hooks and thundering guitars, drums and bass with adventurous twists, they brew their unique and ultimately satisfying potion of stoner, prog and hardrock.
After the success of 2018 debut ‘Father of Time’, which demonstrates their knack for stacking riffs like lego bricks, and having conquered stages across Europe with their shin-kicking live sets, the power trio from Antwerp raise the bar with their majestic second outing ‘King’.
They sound bigger and heavier with more vocals (including special guest Oskar Logi from The Vintage Caravan) but never losing sight of the quest for the golden riff.
‘King’ was recorded with Frank Rotthier at Rockstar Recordings in between lockdowns in the fall of 2020 and will be released by POLDERRECORDS digital, on cd and on vinyl May 6th, 2022. - เพลง
Queens of the gnome age
😂 👊
My first thougt was about kyuss 😂🎉
🤣🤣🤣
Very reminiscent but better/ different/ heavier maybe.
But without satanism
If you are from Czechia, this song has some different meaning - let me explain: In Czechia there is this chain of supermarkets called Kaufland. And managers from Kaufland decided that this chain need super cheap beer, and what managers want, that's what they get. So they make a order to some local brewery to make a beer called AMBROSIUS. The beer so cheap, that the glass in which the beer is stored is more expensive than this beer. This beer cost like 0.05 EURO per 0,5 liter bottle. And of course it the most disgusting thing in the universe as expected. But if you are student or homeless or really an beer alcoholic and you need to drink a lot of beer to get yourself in the mood, its the right thing for you.
So every time in this song I hear: "AMBROSIUS!" I am imagining this beer. And when I hear: "You can eat from the ground!" I Imagine brand slogan like: (read in mellow voice) "Our beer Ambrosius. If you can eat from the ground, you can drink this!"
It gets even funnier because Ambrosius means in Greek langues food and drink of gods - and if a mortal man eat Ambrosia, he/she gets immortal. The word Ambrosia is also used for description of really tasty food or drink.
Awesome!
yeah, right!
I'm pretty sure that nobody drinks beer for the taste anyway.
EDIT: It's a joke. I'm well-aware that beer can taste good, if brewed properly.
@@MrDemonWorm yeah, you are right, nobody.
Thank you for sharing this amazing story! ❤ Greets from you neighbours AT!
I slept over my cousins house one weekend and my uncle decided to have a "ghostbuster" walk through his home. She had many things to say and the one that stuck out to me was that there was an area in his backyard where nothing grew because there were gnomes playing in that area. I'm hoping it was these gnomes.
😂😂😂😂😂
🤯 The greenhouse could be greener...
The gnomes could be shorter😂
That's no joke

Its scary how the algorithm gets its "right" from time to time. Riffs to make you smile
A rock band that actually has a bass you can HEAR?? COUNT ME THE FUCK IN.

Not sure what algorithm figured out I needed this in my life but hot damn. I need to hear all their music now
Same here it was tucked under a faerie festival video. Come to think of it I think the crowd would go for it.
yessir same here m8
Same. The algorithm anointed me this morning and I'm bingeing their stuff!
Amen to that👍
Me too, and it just made up for all the shit rap coochie videos I've seen the last two days on FB.
OH! Wait, HOLD UP! This band unironically slaps! Came for the hats, but stayed for the licks.
If only they had pointy ears. That would put this over the top.
That’s what she said.

How can you slap ironically?
Came here because "Haha They're called Gnome and play in funny red hats" and then promptly got my balls rocked. Definitely going to check their other stuff!
It looks like Tony Iommi’s lawn ornaments came to life and formed a band. I dig it
Ohh shit that's fuckin great fam🤣 don't forgot geezer over there playing percussion on the bass
😂😂😂
Yes! I dig it f'real...waz jist thinking how I haven't been this stupid for a band since Iommi riffed my world...
I dig it too!!
More please
I've heard about garagebands before and house genre, but never greenhouse rock. Nice sound guys!
They're garden gnomes.

Greenhouse after a visit by the BATF.
This is still my daughter's favorite song...to fall asleep to. I first played it for her at 2 weeks old when she was so gassy and needed constantly rocked. She stopped screaming when it started and started crying again when it stopped. 9 months later, we just listened to it 6+ times on loop, but my teething little one is finally asleep. Thank you, Gnome, for rocking so hard you put babies to sleep!
This comment made me show this song to my 4mo old who's just started teething too. He also seems to quiet down and jam out a bit while Gnome is on. 🤘
Outstanding. My kid is 2.5. . . this will go in the rotation just because! We are not the New Balance 608 generation of Dads. Well done gents!
that kid is going to be a rockstar someday, you best get her a guitar
Your kid is all like "Oh wow, I *can* sleep on the ground. Huh! Who'd have thought?"
@@scottcorpany1411Sleeping on the ground is actually quite good for one's posture.
I don’t know why TH-cam brought me here, but I’m 100% here for it
I'll be honest,, if it weren't for those awesome pointy red hats I probably would have passed on the video.
Cool band,, good song,, outstanding hats.
I couldn't hear them in first step as well... but then... that felty-fuzzy gloomy-gnomy red hat sound was just undeniably great...
These guya are awesome. I actually almost passed on the video BECAUSE of the hats. I figure if you can really play you don't need a gimmick. Glad to be wrong.
Yeah, I’ve been watching a couple of their vids now because I saw the hats in a thumbnail. I don’t usually listen to metal (just not a genre I’ve yet explored) but really happy to have discovered these lads. :)
@@jasonmacomber4020 gimmick bands tend to be really good creative and sound nice from my experience.
If you're witty enough to come up with a neat gimmick that creativity will probably translate to your music.
I stopped for the same reason. HATS!
dude these gnomes are so f******* metal
it really can't be overstated how much the hats enhance an already amazing performance.
Just discovered Gnome a few minutes ago and I need more
More will come on May 6th!!
Mee too
Outstanding!
My exact feelings! Late to the party. Hahhahha. Got the album yesterday.
The Spotify Release Radar does right by me again.
This video makes me feel better about the conditions of my greenhouse
Can we take a moment to appreciate all the interesting little switch-ups and fills the drummer sprinkled throughout the song?

And so he must

We cant
@@coreyriegle1328just as I read your comment the change began.
Simplicity style but sounds awesome..
No gimmicks, just real yard gnomes and wheezy tunes!
I don't gnomornally listen to this style, but damn. Nice work. Dig the groove.
So those red pointy hats are the extent of their Gnome gimmick ???? what a disappointment. Back in the 1970s we had GONG !!!!!
@@garycrant4511 thankfully. They rip but the hats are a bit much for me.
You mean gnice work
@@garycrant4511 GONG are still around and touring. I know the bassist!

The exact amount of lyrics needed.............nothing more, nothing less. Killer riffs too.
Yup! Just pure rock n roll.
yep. 9. anything more and it's a waste of time.
Cool riffs and unexpected harmonies in the guitars and vocals! This is great!!!
What I really like about Gnome is you can really tell that they enjoy what they're doing ( especially the bassist) and that they're genuine friends who decided to wear gnome hats while shredding.
exactly!
I was scrolling and I never comment but I had to. This is the first time I'm hearing Gnome because I wanted to hear good bass guitar. I'm always studying bass.
Ya I wish that guy lived in my neighborhood. Well all of them. I wish they all lived in my garden
What I have learned:
Ambrosius
He can sleep on the ground
He can eat from the ground
This band f&kin rocks.
69st
I just bought an absurdly expensive pair of headphones, and this was the song that I chose to break their cherry with 🤘😏
I like how the bass player looks simultaneously 13 and 33.
Great track, guys. Love it.
Their lyricist deserves a raise.
Damn! Rock n Roll as it should be done!! KUDOS from Brazil!🤘🤘🤘
Omfg - accidental discovery of the week !! Gnome can Sleep in a greenhouse 🤗👍👍
I need these Gonones in my garden. Their magic would definitely help my weeds grow thick n sludgy.
Also, 69th like
This will be playing in my backyard all summer. Hoping this puts a little extra stank on this year's crop
I'm almost positive weed is going to grow somewhere nearby them
And it would help my weed grow thick and beautiful
Once again thank you all mighty algorithm for bringing new music into my life
Heads are a sway when the Gnomes are at play
Man, when the vocals kicked in, they sounded EXACTLY like I wanted them to. Uncanny.
I wanna go to see them live with all the crowd wearing those hats
I saw them at Desertfest in London this year. The band wore the hats and there were maybe 6-8 people in the audience wearing them. It was an amazing gig!
I feel like I'm drinking with gnomes and then all of a sudden shit breaks loose with the local wildlife and we're fighting for our lives.
Great jam gnomies.
Probably the best comment on this video.. :)
I keep coming back to this over and over. My girlfriend is kind of over it. She just got back from a hiking trip so yelling YOU CAN SLEEP ON THE GROUND is her afirmation to go and leave me at home.
That's a fucking great shed. A palace among sheds really. Something for us all to aspire to.
So my son Ambrosius is 2 years old and this song is definitely an accurate portrayal. 😂
Someday he will hear this song and think of you and that's awesome.
For sure!
Hahahahhhahah
I take it he sleeps on, and eats off of, the ground? 🤘🤘

Came for the gnome hats, stayed for the HEAVY ASS GROOVES
Bass hits like a brick wall,
Vocals kick in like a kick to the teeth.
Gnome rock, Dwarf Rock, Goblin Rock.
We need a Middle Earth themed movie featuring the rock battles between all the races.
GNOMERCY !! The world needs more Gnome related things.

Ambrosias traveled to the the Elysian fields and partied with Bacchus, and Dionysus, he was delighted to hear them say it, and returned home with a beir recipe...
Ooooaaaaahhh man that hits so good.
This song is legitimately good.
Also, I love that the bassist is finger plucking on the Rickenbacker. Not enough bands do that when they should.
Trust me, Ricky's be fickle and you don't always get this awesome geddy tone.
That greenhouse has serious potential. Especially with them gnomes in there rocking out, sure to ward off any pests!
Thank you gods of the algorithm. This song will be in my head all week.
WOW !! Came for the name, stayed for the Riffs !!
I recently came into about 15k gnomes from 1in to 1ft tall I now have marching music for my army of gnomes thank you
Those riffs are Iommi massive. This vibe this song creates is doomy AF. This is fire. Those second verse vocals are unreal. I'm a fan instantly.
Headphones in, sat in the lunch room smiling like I'm insane and nodding like its keeping me alive. So good!!
Same here
Just woke up, sat my ass outside on the porch with coffee in hand and this gem just popped up! What a start in to the week. Cheers guys and much love from Switzerland

first time in YEARS I've been unable to resist the pull to learn a metal riff on guitar, this is a friggin' instant classic for me boys, awesome work.
This album is a muts-have!

The lyrics make me think of The Hasselhoff drunk-eating a burger on the floor. These guys are painting a picture in my head.
HOLY SHIT!!!! I am 50 and have listened to soooo many bands in this genre but none....NO ONE has nailed it as hard as you guys. Clutch, Redfang, Orange Goblin, Fu Manchu, The Sword ect....all loved, but man, your sound seems a touch more. I absolutely love all the bands doing this sound, but you guys got the "Phenom" that others only got after years of record sales. Killin it, please don't fade away
OK, wow, so just went to purchase your album AND....well done, your sold out...nothing left but a digi-pack. Good job guys, now invest in some more prints so I can support you. lol
Dude I'm 51 and these are the same bands I've gravitated to over the last decade or 15 years or so. Gnome just popped up in my TH-cam feed and I was like...what's this? Checked it out and I'm in.
57 here. These guys throw down. Good music
It’s a cool style. I’m 46 and have spent a lot of time following these type of bands for the last 10 years. Just good traditional riff based heavy rock. You don’t find much of this kind of thing unless you start searching and once you do the rabbit hole is one heck of a long and winding labyrinth
Agreed! I'm gonna be checking them out too. I got a Scissorfight vibe, right from the onset. Give those guys a shot. You'll dig em'!🤘🤘
im a 63yr old folkie/zephead/punk. this shit grinds. love it!!!
Garden-Core is a thing, there you have it.
Love the concept, deep grooves, great playing. Well done.
I’ve heard only two songs by Gnome, but they’ve convinced me that I want to hear the entire album. There’s very few bands that I want more than just a few songs of, but I feel like their album would be an EXPERIENCE. Like they would tell a story, sort of like Pink Floyd or Led Zeppelin did with some of their stuff. Like The Wall. The songs are good alone, but together, they’re AMAZING.
This is what I've been missing my entire life
a band called Gnome has no right to go as hard as this does I love it
I gnome what you mean.
I’m sharing this music with all the gnomies
@@ThatMartinezGuy nice one 👍 🤣

As a death metal head, this band is what I never knew I needed! Sickest riffs ever in this song!
Not even close to death metal. If anything it's sludge or stoner rock.
@@richardbutkis You again? He never said it was death metal. If you keep trying to correct everyone, you're going to end up like me and just end up correcting the correctors..
Try Demonic Death Judge for some good Stoner Death Doom.
@@richardbutkis that's why he never knew he needed it. Hopefully this turns him onto the sludge metal, stoner metal genres though. Can we get some band recs for a fellow metal head?
