I come To Tenerife about once a year since 1991 and it feels like home. Love the island and atmosphere. In different way than in 91 when I went clubbing at Bobby’s and Busbey’s at Veronica’s, now doing cocktails with my sons and the mrs at the Hardrock Café and enjoying the beach and nature but still it’s the same joy as back then.
A few weeks ago the mrs convinced me to do Gran Canaria and just returned after a great vacation and gotta say: I love GC aswell. Beautiful little towns, amazing beaches, not so much the restaurant/Bar vibe as in Tenerife (at least not in Amadores/Puerto Rico where we stayed) but I liked it a lot.
Was amazed by the beauty of the mountains, the sleepy coast towns in the north….lived it and will be back there soon aswell!

According to one from Gran Canaria, which states that Tenerife has only one industrial estate, Güímar, it is the island with the most industrial areas in the entire Canary Islands, with more than twelve industrial estates, the most important being Güímar and Granadilla. which houses an industrial port in development and one of the largest pockets of industrial land to be developed, passing above the highway. It has two international airports, and when both are added, it is the one that moves the most passengers in the entire Canary Islands; It has one of the ten richest municipalities in the Canary Islands, six of them compared to two from Gran Canaria, and one of the ten companies that invoice the most in the Canary Islands, another six companies compared to four from GC. It is the island that receives the most tourists in the entire Canary Islands, beating GC in that regard. It has two of the largest supercomputers in Spain, the TeideHPC and the Anaga, and their increase in speed and storage was recently announced. We have the national park that receives the most visitors in all of Spain while GC does not have any national park, in addition to two World Heritage Sites: El Teide and La Laguna, with the university of La Laguna being the first to be created in the Canary Islands, as well as the Cabrera Pinto of La Laguna, the first institute on the islands. We have important companies such as Disa, with a presence in Spain, Portugal and Uruguay in addition to having the Shell brand for all of Spain; Fred Olsen shipping company; Number 1 Group with presence abroad especially in Africa; the only 100% Canarian entity; BoxSeven; headquarters of regional banks such as Banca March or Bankinter and an extensive fiber optic network thanks to the fiber network that the Cabildo deployed years ago in addition to having the largest network of fiber optic cables connected to other countries. It has the building with the largest roof on the islands, the Tenerife Congress and Fair Center, a place where different sporting, leisure, concerts and business events are held. It also has the only wind tunnel for testing and the only clean room for scientific testing on the islands. Oh and the largest concentration of luxury hotels in Europe, in Adeje and the water park with the most awards in the world, Siam Park and one of the most visited and recognized zoo, Loro Parque. Finally, it is the only island with a railway system, which is the Tenerife tram, with two lines that surround part of the metropolitan area and Line 1 will be extended, announced by the council, to the northern airport. It also has more than 30 companies with more than one hundred years of life, recently awarded by the island's council in recognition of this. And 14 of the 25 companies that invoice the most of all the islands are based in Tenerife. None of what I put is invented or heard, you can search it on the internet. Greetings.

In which multiverse is Tenerife the island with the highest number of industrial areas? You can’t possibly argue that Tenerife has more industrial areas than Gran Canaria, it’s ridiculous and the census data for industrial areas from the government doesn’t back you up. Apparently, there are 12 industrial areas in Tenerife. My question is: what is considered to be an industrial area there? Because if anything can be considered an industrial area, then only in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria there are 7 industrial areas to which we would add up the others all over the island, a figure that doubles the number of industrial areas in Tenerife. Yeah Tenerife has got two airports yet the busiest airport on the Canaries is Gran Canaria Airport. It makes sense that Tenerife receives more tourists, you know how to advertise the island and get economical privileges from Madrid. So far, we have never used images of Mount Teide to advertise Gran Canaria, unlike you in Tenerife. You have used images of Maspalomas sand dunes to advertise your beaches in Tenerife: just google it. ‘Maspalomas in Tenerife’
Among the 30th busiest ports in Europe that move more cargo, there’s only Las Palmas, out of all of the other ports from the Canaries (data from the EU and Puertos del Estado 🇪🇸), on that list, let aside that as Palmas port is twice the size of that of Tenerife’s, I mean Santa Cruz is a village compared to Las Palmas. I don’t get this…
We have business centres in Gran Canaria two: Infecar in Las Palmas, probably the biggest centre for multiple uses of its kind on the Canaries, and we don’t host carnival festivals here unlike you in your business centre there in Tenerife. Likewise, there’s another business centre in Gran Canaria called ExpoMeloneras. About Fredolssen, this company is Norwegian, it’s not even from Tenerife so…😂
Armas on the other hand is Canarian and from Las Palmas.
The wealthiest municipality on the Canaries is Santa Brígida, well above El Rosario in Tenerife, like €10k wealthier in per capita terms. Las Palmas city is way wealthier than Santa Cruz for that matter; there are very wealthy neighbourhoods like Ciudad Jardín, Vegueta and Triana reaching nearly €50k per capita, something unheard of in any neighbourhood of Santa Cruz. The thing is, why do we even need to compare ourselves with Tenerife, we have amazing beaches, an amazing cosmopolitan city and breathtaking landscapes and even sand dunes. At the end of the day it’s the only Canarian island called after the islands and carrying the word ‘great’ (Gran Canaria) still, we don’t look down on the other islands and pretend to be the leading island or anything like people from Tenerife do, and the funny thing is that tinerfeños come a lot to Gran Canaria for work and study, let aside Lanzarote and Fuerteventura which have even more work for people working in the service sector than any other islands.

Venga

I'm from Gran Canaria. We can't really say which island is better. But the main difference between these two islands is the landscape and economy. Gran Canaria is more varied: a big capital city with a bustling metropolitan vibe (8 shopping centres, 2 department stores), international music and cinema festivals all year around, museums, theatres, a proper old town from the 15th century and three large urban beaches. If you leave the capital you can visit villages in the mountains where you will see beautiful old towns with gothic and neoclassical cathedrals (Arucas, Teror, Gáldar), pine tree forests (Artenara, Tejeda, San Bartolomé de Tirajana). If you go south, you'll see sand dunes, golden sand beaches and all type of hotels; budget/luxury (Maspalomas, Mogán).
Another major difference is industry. Even though we rely on tourism a lot, there are lots of industrial areas on Gran Canaria about 6 industrial parks, whereas there's only one on Tenerife, in Guímar. Tenerife depends more on tourism than Gran Canaria. Gran Canaria is the industrial heart of the Canaries because some of the most important companies in the region are from here (HiperDino, Kalise, Tirma, Binter, Naviera Armas, Boluda)

You might want to check my Gran Canaria videos. The old towns and villages, the different landscapes (deserts, mountains, cliffs etc.), the different hikes you can do there. It has more to offer than just beaches. The two islands are pretty similar but also very different in their own way.

    • @leroygonzalezhernandez7726

@@Svenywhere i think that about gran Canaria because the people of that place say that Tenerife has no beaches and that is a lie. I can also say that Gran Canaria does not have mountains. Both have their good part and their bad part. But to be honest, Tenerife is much more complete in everything. And the more than 2 million tourists who come here more than to Gran Canaria know this is why they come. If there were no homosexual tourism in Gran Canaria, which would be approximately 85 or 90% of the total, the income would be even higher in favor of Tenerife. It is true that the city of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria is more cosmopolitan and larger than Santa Cruz de Tenerife, but here the towns are more spread out throughout the island, more populated and in a unique enclave in the world with Teide surrounding them all and very green and easy access to each of them. The most beautiful town in Gran Canaria is Arucas and it is a long drive away. all the towns of gran canaria are in the interior whereas those of tenerife are united and followed each other parallel to the motorway. We have two UNESCO world heritage sites: the city of Laguna and El Teide, apart from the fact that this is a national park in Spain. The beaches in the south of Gran Canaria are better, but the hotel infrastructures are very old and obsolete and with very little offer of restaurants and shops compared to the south of Tenerife, which is pure luxury, high-level hotels and an offer of both leisure and restaurants. that's amazing. In Gran Canaria they laugh at Tenerife because there are no shopping centers and they say that the roads are obsolete. It is true they are but only in the capital since Las Palmas capital is bigger but outside the capital things are quite different. In Tenerife the shopping centers are more spread out between Santa Cruz, La Laguna, Puerto de la Cruz, La Orotava, Caletillas, and in the south in Arona and Adeje, there are about 5 or 6. In the south of Gran Canaria there is only El Mogan mall and that's it. Hence my comment that Tenerife is more complete is because of all of the above

As for beaches, I recommend Las Vistas, El Camison, Playa de Fañabe, Playa del Duque, Bahia de los Cristianos, Playas del Medano, and in the north Playa de los Patos, Playa Jardin and El Socorro.
