My biggest advice would be to not repeat the command over and over, say it once and give him a chance to work out what you’re asking him and if he figures it out THEN you reward him

This is amazing advice!! Thank you so much, just tried it because he was biting at me as I’m reading this and it worked!! I usually have to crate him for a little so he can calm down but not right now ❤❤❤

You've never had a dog before and you have a Belgian malinois honey you better get to learning dog behavior dog psychology as fast as you can because if you don't and you just think love is all he needs...😊 You will get hurt. And by the way he knows whatever word you teach him as a command this does not mean he understands what you say when you are speaking to him. It is best to keep your words on a very minimum and don't ever let your dog make you repeat your command

Thank you so much for the advice! This was not a sol decision, my partner has had 3 German Shepherd’s as a teen/adult and taught me a lot about Malinois’s. We have certainly been training him everyday and I will also continue to learn about him. We have had him for about 1 month now and his personality is coming out more and more. I do have a question since you know about malinois, he bites so much and people keep saying because of the teething but I think it’s because I play tug of war with him often, does he think I’m his fun? This behavior is specifically with me. He’s so gentle with my partner

@@LifewithSuadhe’s biting you because he thinks it’s a game. The best thing to do is redirect by putting a toy between him and you so he can bite that instead. Would also be good to get a ‘house line’ basically a long leash which you can use for corrections so when he bites you, you can give the line a quick tug which will tell him no - also make sure if you are telling him no it is a stern short no not a dragged out baby voice/higher pitch nooo because he will hear that as a positive sound

@@LifewithSuad biting is something you are going to deal with for the life of this dog as that is what they were created to do and they are mouthy dogs. Make sure you always have something for him to satiate with. Some kind of a chew, like a bully stick, antler or something so that you can always redirect any mouthy behavior to something that he is allowed to be mouthy on. When he is being mouthy and making a game of it the more moving around you do, trying to pull back your hands and keep away from him and the more telling him no you do, the more amped up and excited he's going to get about it. Always remain calm and never get frustrated because it is toxic to any dog to have a frustrated energy but it is especially toxic to these guys. Your patience game has got to be 100% and your ability to remain calm yet assertive in every situation with that dog is going to be the difference in failure and success. And remember he can be the center of your world but don't ever let him know that he is the center of your world. Your mindset always needs to be that you are the boss and you don't misbehave in front of the boss. Your confidence needs to be unwavering with him. It's going to be a lot of hard work but it's going to be rewarding if you can get it done. Your hardest task on a day-to-day basis is going to be wearing him out. Just fine mini activities that he enjoys to do that will help you to have an amazing bond with him. The more games that you can play with him the more trust you will build and the more he will respect you and not try to take that position.
