Hi,
Lots of people will have different opinions and from what I can tell you is that I have not yet seen a machine-made silk rug that was actually made of real silk. All of the rugs were made with synthetic silk and when in the case of the machine-made Qum rugs you have signatures of weavers added, then it is clearly in my opinion not just fake, but fraud.
Most people consider rugs to be "real" when they are handmade and with material that is organic and not synthetic.
