    I dimly remember Cheryl singing completely flat and tunelessly at the Queen's Diamond Jubilee bash, in 2012, and being completely upstaged by Grace Jones giving a perfect rendition of 'Slave To The Rhythm', whilst simultaneously keeping a hula hoop in motion. When will egocentric prats who enjoy a little success somewhere understand THAT.
      The only person presented here who is an artist id Robby Williams.
      Sorry he didn't succeed in the USA because he deserved to, unfortunately he went out there and expected to be a star within a week .... He acted like one in anycase.

    • @usera1113

      @Cameron Hawthorn Yes they failed to crack the US as solo artists. Geri’s debut album did ok and Melanie C’s song I Turn To You was a big club hit but that was it. Emma Bunton promoted her second album (including the rude Howard Stern interview) in the US but it didn’t do well neither did her last one. Mel B had a semi dance hit when she was an AGT judge. Victoria almost attempted to crack America with a second album but it got scrapped. I guess you could say they’ve all cracked the US as celebrities/TV personalities but not in terms of musical success

    • @usera1113
      @usera1113 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Cameron Hawthorn Mel C’s album charted outside of the Top 100 and Free Me charted at #30 on the Heatseekers chart. That’s hardly a hit, only Geri’s album did well in the states, and I’m not shaming them for underselling. I’m a big fan and wish their solo material was more appreciated in the US. Fair enough that they didn’t intend to crack the US but that still doesn’t mean that they didn’t manage to do so.

The problem with Cheryl was not only that no one could understand her but also they didn't respect her talent. Little Britain, Jamie Oliver, and Robbie Williams all had the exact same problem they came across as incredibly arrogant and condescending. Not a recipe for success in America. I saw someone wonder how James Cordon pulled it off and the answer is he comes across as humble, self-deprecating, and sweet, might be a total lie as I've heard rumors he is a dick in real life but that isn't the image he gives off Plus carpool karaoke is what really put him on the map.

    I don’t think it’s always that Americans do not get the “uniquely Britain humor” since plenty of British shows have a cult following in the USA. Oftentimes the startup audience would already been familiar with the original and were not very interested in a rehashed American version. Also I think sometimes producers fail to understand what actually makes the British shows appealing to Americans.

    • @mebeme007
      @mebeme007 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's one thing to have a cult following.
      It's a whole different thing to have A grade popularity status with well over 50 or 100 million Americans.
      Americans have always been hung up on their own style of comedy.
      It's rare for great British shows, or shows from any other country, to make it huge in the U.S.
      It's even rarer to see the U.S take on a show that is a hit in the UK, and put their own spin on it and make it big in the U.S.
      No, I'm afraid to say that most people in the U.S just don't get UK humour.
      And who cares really if anyone makes it big in the U.S anymore.
      So many wonderfully talented people are making a name for themselves in so many other countries.
      "Making it big in the U.S" is not the badge of honour it once used to be.

      Jamie didn't become a chef because he had the wealth behind him from the very beginning.
      He tries to create budget friendly meals on some of his tv programmes as well. Yet. there are still some jerks that want to attack him, simply because he's grown a big bank balance over several decades of working hard at it.

    I'm sure to receive some ridicule for this viewpoint, but I liked the reboot of 'The Bionic Woman', despite what the critics said. This version of the TV show worked for me, on two levels: the improved special effects and - more importantly - the performances, particularly Michelle Ryan. She did a better job in the role of Jamie Somers than Lindsay Wagner. It's a real shame the show failed.

    • @mebeme007

      Comparing the original show that rated highly back in the day, with the updated version that failed miserably in the ratings.
      If it weren't for the popularity of Lindsay Wagner, then there would have been no reboot for Jamie to even apply for, let alone fail at.
