+Ryyyyyy How did Gaben go from "hey mr gates, here's that doom port" to "paid mods! buggy inventory system that will fuck you out of money, non-refundable! refund system(but it doesn't actually work)!"
***** I don't want Gaben to make us wait a million years for Doom 2 Episode 3. Plus, those fat fucks can't even make a good program. Back when I used Origin due to my friends being stupid, I got customer support helping me in minutes at the most. With Valve, I had a question waiting for 3 days before I uninstalled Steam.
The guy with the rainbow caterpillar scarf is hilarious. Clearly a fellow runner whose mind is being blown. His reactions at 29:20, 31:20, 32:45, 34:52, 37:50, 47:50 (fav), and 58:10 (fav), 101:15. Food for thought: I'm not at all dissing these guys by saying this, but you all basically have PhD level knowledge of this game - this from someone in a PhD program. Some of you all may Also have advanced education in other areas. I'm just saying I'm excited to know that some of your brains are also being applied to things like cancer on the regular - not just raising money for it by demonstrating your incredible knowledge and skill of this game (which I grew up with and is close to my heart). So yeah. I'm excited some of you all will be learning / know about the nuance of social and clinical problems. We need brains like this in so many areas. And it's cool to be able to hone this level of thinking in games. Go nerdfighters.
+Mike Fliss lol, the live audience really adds to the entertainment value. especially when theres guys in there that emote like that. have you seen yellow shirt guy? hes awesome
I like how shit gets real even on the easiest skill level, meeting mancubi and arch viles on the very first level. That's just mean. I tip my hat to whomever can speed run this on UV or Nightmare from start to finish.
Even though Dime struggled a bit with this run, he set the UV speed world record for Plutonia a couple of days ago. The Neurosphere arch-vile jump didn't give him any trouble that time. xD Looking forward to seeing his Ultimate Doom run at SGDQ!
he got the shocked face expression at 32:47. It was programmed in the game but due to a bug in the condition for it to appear it is very rare to happen. I guess doomguy didn't think he could make that jump either.
The "ouch face" is supposed to happen when the player takes more than 20 point of damage but when the original code checks whether the player has taken enough damage, it subtracts the old health from the current value instead of the other way around so the face only shows up if the player ends up gaining more than 20 health while being attacked. Source ports often have this bug fixed though.
As an avid member of the Doom community, and a Doom Runner, I will say this: Plutonia Experiment is... something else... Much love for this run, and regardless of the deaths, the rocket jumps, the strafing, and everything else, was perfect. It is funny to think that I can be balls-to-the-wall good at Doom 1-2, but Final Doom... nope... Loved this run, and hopefully some year there will be a Hexen or Heretic marathon run. :)
*Lays down for sleep, searches "final doom speed run", watches entire video, gets up, downloads final doom, plays, conquers* Night Complete. Great run Dime! Doom run 2016??
Most of the speed runs showcase players destroying games. But to be honest, it looks like Doom destroyed the player this time. It does look crazy difficult though.
I don't get why some people are against Brutal Doom. Classic games like Wolfenstein 3D, Doom and Quake have had some of the longest living modding communities. Mods like Brutal Doom shows that, as well as revitalizes the scene and brings in some new people. Unfortunately Wolf3D and Quake haven't had a mod like Brutal Doom to bring in new people, they're still going strong. It's a great fun mod thats added a lot of fun new things to Doom. I can't wait to see a Brutal Doom version of all of Laz Rojas' Wolfendoom scenarios.
completely agree. you can be a hardcore vanilla doom fan all you want, you dont have like brutal doom. but you cant say it sucks. sergeant mark IV did his best on making it and its really one of dooms greatest mods ever
I love how you struggle with the arch vile jump at the end of Neurosphere, finally make it to the next level and accidentally load the game, try the jump again and get it right instantly.
I can't prove it, but I'm pretty sure Dime is a gaming android sent back in time from the distant future when cancer has almost wiped out humanity (somehow). They sent him back to raise enough money at AGDQ to cure it in time to prevent humanity's doom. It's 3am btw.
This wasn't as popular as Doom 1 or 2, not because of Quake, but because it didn't follow the same level design philosophy as its predecessors. Doom 1 and 2 was designed for every level to be beaten with a pistol only start. Good luck doing that for this.
Actually, the maps were designed to be beaten on UVmax PS, it is just way more difficult than the first 2 games, but if you look at what the mapping community have been making in all those years of Doom there are Wads that would make even Plutonia looks like child play.
I pretty much lived in Go 2 It for a year, never get tired of that map. Managed to do one UV Max no save run back in the day. Speed running Plutonia has to be one of the most blissfully stressful runs you can do(om).
Kevin Striker Well sir, you need to learn, I had the original DooM for DOS, and the controls I remember were the arrow keys, control, space, and a few of the function keys. I don't remember it having mouse support.
As much as I love this speedrun, I'm just a teeny tiny bit sad that the Map 32: Go 2 It goal wasn't met. Anyway, nicely done, Dime, and everyone at GDQ.
I always thought, as a kid, that there was 2 types of archviles, the normal one in doom 2 (and such) and the second type, which was orange-ish and did more damage.
Final Doom is so hard that this run didn't go down so well unlike Quake and Duke Nukem 3D (apart from Go To It which he got 100% secrets, items and 133% kills :))
the OS,web browser, car etc... you're using was made by a nerd, the smartphone your'e using was made by a nerd. Almost everything that has to do with technology was made in some way or another by a "Nerd".

Bill Gates is such a beast at DOOM.
He also makes a mean ham and cheese sandwich!
***** That explains why he used the quake engine to start half-life with. Interesting :)
*****
:) Didn't know that. I'll have to read up more on him and his relationship w/ doom. Thanks for the tidbits.

Here, I'll make those last 3 time-stamps for convenience: 1:05:20, 1:16:20, 1:19:15 (Now I'm going to watch all of them and see. lol)
+Mike Fliss Thanks man. Rip, tear, and hit the books. What are you studying?
+Mike Fliss You just couldn't resist finding a way to mention you are in a PhD program could you?
FINALLY. I've been waiting for this to be uploaded. Thank you!
yw:)
Plutonia tore me a new asshole when I played it on hurt me plenty.
I can't imagine how much patience is needed to speed run it.
I like how shit gets real even on the easiest skill level, meeting mancubi and arch viles on the very first level. That's just mean. I tip my hat to whomever can speed run this on UV or Nightmare from start to finish.
Gurra88 It sure does. I will never play this on UV.
This is nothing compared to Sunlust or Chillax. Okuplok is really the hardest of the hard
Plutonia is a masochistic experience.
Even though Dime struggled a bit with this run, he set the UV speed world record for Plutonia a couple of days ago. The Neurosphere arch-vile jump didn't give him any trouble that time. xD

I've never heard it called the ouch face before, but makes sense why it's so rare.
Karel Vlk shock expression
@@vlk.charles that must be right, it happens again at 46:03 and this is ten years ago.

There is Heretic run SGDQ now and ppl wanted Hexen too :)
Also, a great run by great speedrunners. I hope to see Evilution TNT one day.
Dime has a very interesting voice, I could listen to him talk about anything.
thanks SDA for giving me so many hours of entertainment!

+Dynamoe2 i m better
Literally me😂
Most of the speed runs showcase players destroying games. But to be honest, it looks like Doom destroyed the player this time. It does look crazy difficult though.
yes this game is insanely hard. any person who tries playing this their first time will have a very, very bad time.
What did you expect?
It's Plutonia fucking Experiment he's playing.
check out zero master's run of this
Unfortunately, the 1st time I played Final Doom, it was the watered down PS1 version.
Also 58:10 Broman so upset and uploaded on my birthday (good timing SDA, much appreciated)
44:35 my heart skipped a beat with that reload
+Franco Venica =)))))))))))))

Because everytime you see a Doom releated stuff, it is always Brütal Doom
Get it? Most players, modders tired of it
Next thing will be Brutal Quake heh.
Because of newfags
they are only jokes, brutal doom is awesome, but mostly are souceports, they do the bigger job make the game nicer,
IMO

@@valletas lol thanks. my comments have gotten way worse since this.
@@TheSoulHarvester Good. Good.
It's Dime time.
The best Doom wad and one of my top 10 games ever. Never gets old.

+Gragain I got stuck on the second level with the wall that traps you in front of all the cacodemons and revenants....
+Gragain people have beat every level in this game with a pistol start. its just this is generally harder then doom 1 or 2
+joshAKAtheman Some of the levels are only possible with a pistol start due to exploits or glitches.
Actually, the maps were designed to be beaten on UVmax PS, it is just way more difficult than the first 2 games, but if you look at what the mapping community have been making in all those years of Doom there are Wads that would make even Plutonia looks like child play.
CASUALLY TALKING AS U PLAY AT BREAK NECK SPEEDS DOING INSANELY HARD TRICKY SUBTLE MOVEMENTS
Speed run on DooM is far the best enjoyable to watch.
Wow, that archvile chase scene was sick!
what is that bling bling noise through out the whole thing? sounds like a windows ding
StickyKeys
It’s so annoying
This speedrunner is amazing!
This dime guy is awesome. I am impressed.
I pretty much lived in Go 2 It for a year, never get tired of that map. Managed to do one UV Max no save run back in the day. Speed running Plutonia has to be one of the most blissfully stressful runs you can do(om).
Im huge fan of doom but its awesome how this guys knows every trick of every level.
Damn, Dime has some crazy skills!
On Keyboard only? Absolute CHAD.
No, he used mouse and WASD
27:20 which white pixel is he talking about?
Amazing. I have no words, this guy is a pro.
Yamil ZthirtyTwo take a look at zero master...
This is just crazy. Props to this guy.
I laughed so hard when the guy said "SO MANY SHOTS FIRED".
At the end of episode 3 in doom, it's not a stake Daisy's head is on, it's doom guys hand holding it.
Ballsy to wake up the arch-viles. Letting them sleep makes it a LOT easier to run through.
Go 2 it is just insane. I enjoyed seeing him play that level.
This guy is not human
This is the run that inspired the legend Zeromaster to speedrun doom.
Really good run. It's a shame some of the tricks took a while but it was fun to watch with great commentary :D
THE run for me! I was waiting for an eternety :D
Only the best gamers play this! DOOM forever
Real Doom Speed Run = No Mouse!
No mouse ? That so gay.
JD Rock lol ? try playing deathmatch with no mouse... nobeles
***** wtf, DooM had no mouse..
BrofoBlockland Yes it did. Wolfenstein even predates Doom and had mouse support.
Kevin Striker Well sir, you need to learn, I had the original DooM for DOS, and the controls I remember were the arrow keys, control, space, and a few of the function keys. I don't remember it having mouse support.
Couch commentators: Pavera, MattyIce3131, ProfessorBroman, Coolkid (seeing as I'm on the couch I think my info is correct Kappa)
thanks!
no problem, I know Dime originally meant for Garrison to commentate but he wasn't there
Who's the guy in the brown jacket on the couch?
As much as I love this speedrun, I'm just a teeny tiny bit sad that the Map 32: Go 2 It goal wasn't met. Anyway, nicely done, Dime, and everyone at GDQ.
Best speedrun ever. Congratulations, Dime ^^
I always thought, as a kid, that there was 2 types of archviles, the normal one in doom 2 (and such) and the second type, which was orange-ish and did more damage.
great run Dime!
Man... Dime's PATIENCE alone to route this ENTIRE thing... geez.
12:45 run speedrun
Loving that carbuncle plushie
Why do they hate Brutal Doom? Both Doom and Brutal Doom are awesome
cuz sgt mark iv is the morrisey of the doom community
DIME is so cool i wish he was my bro
Final Doom is so hard that this run didn't go down so well unlike Quake and Duke Nukem 3D (apart from Go To It which he got 100% secrets, items and 133% kills :))
cool dude! like his run really much
Dime finishes the game in the time it'd take me to get to level 4.
Who would've thought that one of the last maps in Doom, Go 2 it, would have the very first map of Doom II...
The struggle was real
that guy is so nerdy
No he just wanted to speed run doom that doesn't make him nerdy
the OS,web browser, car etc... you're using was made by a nerd, the smartphone your'e using was made by a nerd. Almost everything that has to do with technology was made in some way or another by a "Nerd".
Says the guy from minecraft ^^
yeah he does look very nerdy but he is quite a cool guy u know
Playing this game on ultra violence and with brutal doom is one of the hardest thing I've ever done.
And GO 2 IT was a nightmare.
Gurra88 Try playing Chillax, or Deus Vult.
At the end of the run
Estimate:Pain
LOL
how come the sky reloaded correctly when Dime loaded the game on map 14?
I prefer to kill every monster in every level, find every secret and pick up every item, but still this is great.
very nice run :)
That left hand...
why don't they do it on nightmare?
Cause you have twice ammo on nightmare, which means once you have DFG it's way easier.
Also the random spawning ennemies can mess up a lot of tricks.
Zarock01
BFG... not DFG... yall been playin too much league :P
+Zarock01 I wouldn't say it's easier, plutonia would be waaaay harder on nightmare. but you are right about them ruining some tricks
Speedrun Freedoom wad, please!
OMG he does Go 2 it @ 1:15:00 !!
If you guys start doing custom wad runs for doom, any chance you'd do Sunder?
6:25 "finally see the game that started it all for sda" where is the video of that?
all the speed, and no use of quicksave/ F6 ? :)
Gotta love the doom tunes
His hand is like a curious spider in attack mode 😮
It doesn't even have a first name! It just says McLovin!
what a bad haircut, looks like the doom guy gave him that haircut
Shit is that CoolKid in the background
Amazing run of this stupidly difficult game.
Begins at 12:46

Paul Kerrigan It's all the demons getting in his way to Adrian for making Daikatana.
