8:13 "What is shooting them?" That would be them shooting each other. lol All the psychological references are because of Kafka's mind control ability. She's calmly walking along while they kill each other.
Star Rail's trailer production value is definitely on its own level. One reason for that is that it is all a cinematic due to the way the turn-based combat works and their decision to not show gameplay in these. Genshin's Demos (which are closer to this than the teasers) always show off the in-game attacks which is obviously of a lesser quality since it is actual recorded gameplay. The only part that is in-game for all of the Star Rail trailers is the characters ultimate which is a cinematic itself lol
I mean, they do show off most of the attacks in the trailers, Kafka’s I think only has skill and ult but they’re all there in the others, just hidden throughout flashier scenes
@@soupkeyi2799 The point is that it is 100% a cinematic with 0 of the scenes rendered in-game it seems. I could be wrong though. If you don't know her kit and you watch this, you still don't really know what her kit is for the most part. I get it though, doing it like this looks way better than inserting the in-game turn based battle gameplay. That would be pretty weird. Genshin Demos also have cinematic parts, but also mix in literal in engine gameplay pieces to show off the kit.
@@Hy-BridAbroadThey do use In-game animation on her ultimate in this trailer and they still showed her skill and attack animation just from different angle because the gameplay can't rotate the camera like genshin do, they only use cinematic animation in the beginning and in the corridor fights
Yeah and that why they have more productive value, they didn't do their trailer half hearts with in-game gameplay only and turn it into their trailer, they make the cinematic animation for introducing her, give her personality more shine, and choose a fitting music for her while genshin only use in-game gameplay, record it and then turn it into a trailer. Trailer supposed to make people interesting to that certain characters either from their story or their gameplay animation which is why for me HSR trailer is really good AS a trailer
@@nameless536 I agree that I prefer this type of trailer. However, part of the reason it makes sense to do it like this is just because of the type of game that HSR is (turn-based). It makes way more sense to do it like this.
I did a bit of a break down on her trailer. No predictions on her story but I think it might have some insights on her character. Notes on Kafka’s trailer: the music is from Vivaldi’s Four Seasons, specifically a portion of the Summer movement. (For anyone wanting to look it up, search for Vivaldi’s The Storm. The Divertissement Orchestra has a lovely arrangement of it.) The words that flash on the screen for a split second about 3/4 of the way in are: Intermission, MacGuffin (which is an object in a story that is there for the protag to chase down but is otherwise irrelevant and could be switched out for any other object without effecting the story), Non-Linear Structure, Oneiric (dream-like) Structure, and Fin. Intermission is literally the point in the main story we’re at right now. A pause between acts. MacGuffin refers to her views on her role in a ‘fated script’. She herself is the MacGuffin. Not because she is irrelevant or has no effect on events, but because she could be swapped out with any other and the script will still play out the way Destiny’s Slave wants it to. Not certain, but I suspect that the trailer is laid out Non-Linearly. The reason the fight scene in the hallway was so broken up was because it was not a fight scene, but several fight scenes that take place in multiple hallways on multiple floors. Note the elevator counter. (Although it is interesting that it counted down instead of up, especially since that last scene seems to take place in a room with windows in a slanted roof.) Oneric means dream-like. Straightforward enough. Same for Fin (finale). The title, A Dramatic Irony, is explained in the description “Her expertise lies in creating ‘fear’, even if she herself remains ignorant of the very concept.” The repeated themes of classical music could serve the same function as the repeated spider motifs. They mark her as an expert manipulator, directing the events around her as a skilled conductor directs an orchestra. The blots of color seem to be both a reference to Rorschach and a continuation of the spider motif. They likely are to show that, like Rorschach’s ink blots, what you see in her is a reflection of yourself rather than any meaningful insight into Kafka herself. The fact that they are shaped like spiderwebs is another reference to the manipulation she pulls. Her character being a mirror rathe than a window is something she actively does rather than a passive aspect of her personality. Her comment about how destiny chose to wear her face likely ties back to the Macguffin thing. She is interchangeable in the script written by Destiny’s Slave. (Who we may catch a glimpse of? There’s someone bound in chains and reaching out but it’s hard to catch any details. Might just be a guard.) She leaves the ending up to chance which is another point in towards her feeling like the outcome is inevitable. It does not matter what the guard chooses. His fate is decided and events will play out to ensure it irregardless of any interference from either the guard or her. Just some of the things I thought of watching the trailer. At least some of it’s probably wrong but I hope it’s interesting either way.
Few points: -Dramatic Irony is a stilistic figure where the viewers know more about the characthers than characthers themselves, which is fitting for Kafka since not only does she know our origins as the MC, she also know what is in our future due to Elio, both of which are currently unknown to us as the players -Non-Linear structure in storytelling usually refers to the lack of chronological order when telling said story-a few people already speculated that the story already happened and that we are merely seeing the aftermath of it (the hallway scene is clearly in chronological order due to the elevator-kill countdown). Oneiric structure ties into this when you consider that aeon of rememberance and lightcones are cannon thing in HSR universe -We already knew that Kafka cannot sense fear, as if she is a sociopath-dsince their inception, Inkblot tests have been mostly commonly used to determine signs, tendencies and behavior of people with antisocial personality disorder, which is why they were shown on multiple occassions in Kafka's demo.
I listened to Vivaldi’s seasons when I was younger (not because I know how to play any instrument, but because I genuinely liked the music) Hearing this for my favorite character in Star Rail was surreal.
I think the better comparison of trailers between HSR and Genshin should be Kafka vs Raiden's. They are both some of the biggest hyped characters in their respective games and got some of the best production quality in their trailers. But I 100% agree with the idea that HSR has taken all the feedback of their previous games and just ran with it.
Because the community is not afraid to give constructive criticism to help the devs improve the game. Unlike with Genshin, who has an empire of simps and white knights for which the game can do no wrong and, i quote, "We should be grateful to be able to play the game for free"
They shoot at each other! Cause she has an ability where she controls people and makes them fight each other. Sadly that part isn’t playable in her, but when you fight her she does that and it’s really hard, I haven’t beat her yet!!
I had to look myself in the mirror after watching this trailer. In my opinion the best that Hoyoverse has produced. The music and animation was all on point. (Agreed the hallway scene should've been a one take with a rotating camera being the blemish).
