I’ve (finally) found some time to start playing with and exploring our schools Emblaser 2 10W laser (diode). I’ve had some success cutting and engraving some coloured acrylic with it. I spent a week or so trying different settings but have had decent success with Red, Orange, Green, and to some extent Purple, both opaque and clear. Black was definitely the easiest but the kiddies like colours for their phone holder project. Definitely noted the CO2 difference though - and love the converyor belt on this thing.
14:59 I would like to add, you need a laptop that can run windows or linux. You can't use a desktop and just use a usb stick to transport the info like a 3D printer. Figured that out with my diode laser. Thankfully I could get a used one, upgraded the ram and storage from a HDD to SSD. Works perfectly for the laser now.
Looks like a fantastic unit. Seriously considering getting one. Looks like it actually puts the diode lasers to shame. When I get there, you can teach me a few tricks. By the way, so happy that the logos you burned were kerned correctly. 😉👍
Gday, Thanks for the info. I have a question, how did they send it to you? Air or Sea because Atomstack tell me they can only send to Australia ex China via sea freight with 2 month delivery? I want to step up from Diode and this machine seems to be what I'm looking for but not sure about the delivery! Thanks.
Hey I'm not 100% sure how it was sent. As it was sent to me for the promo I didn't know when it left the factory to be sent to me so I'm not sure how long it took or how it came. The laser does come very well packed and I didn't have any issues with how secure eveything was.
I'm considering the AtomStack Hurricane 55W CO2 Laser, but I'm wondering if it's possible to remove or move the probe out of the way after using it? Or, is there a way to use a physical spacer under the nozzle instead of the probe? I can see how the probe might get in the way for some engravings I do.
I don’t believe you can remove the probe but it sits higher than the nozzle and I would say up and out of the way. It only comes down for the focusing action and then goes away. Hopefully this helps 😀
The music serves no purpose other than to hide the noise of the machine in operation, which is a factor many potential purchasers will take into account. All the music and graphics do is detract from important issues such as How effective is the air extraction ? How much smoke when lifting lid after a cut ? Fan noise ? Machine noise when idle ? Machine noise when running ? Real time speed ? More of an advert than a review
the desktop CO2 market is so competative atm that prices are now starting at €2000 (monoport 55w) and even the gweike pro 55W is now on sale for €2300!!! Some garbage enclosed diode lasers cost this much
Great video as usual Ainsley. Keep up the good work :)
Thank you. Thanks for stopping by :)
Love that idea of making the plywood template and having it taped down so it doesn’t move for next jobs. Simple.
The template worked great and I think I will use it on other projects as well :)

Hey Thank you. Oohh thats good to know with the coloured acrylic. Its such a cool material and I love all the colour options.

This is true or a Mac will also work. But good to note :)

Thanks Chris!! Just trying to make you proud! Its a great unit and just so quick. Everything done in 1 pass!
Great looking laser. I can’t wait to upgrade from my diode to a co2. Thanks for a cracking review. 👍
Hey Thank you! I couldn't believe the difference and just how quick the Co2 was.
Awesome stuff Ains. So better than diode in almost everyway just bigger and pricey. Not a bad trade off
Thanks James. Yep just about. Price is slowly coming down to a hobbyist level which is great to see

Can this engrave inside curved bowls?
It could but only in the flat part. The laser head doesn't auto adjust to the changing in heights while burning.
how many passes to get the bottle openers looking good?

Well said, sadly hardly no responses to any of the posts.
