I had to get rid of the excess plastic in the hole and now they fit perfectly ! That saved it from being a 4 ... but after all that I’ll say he’s a 8/10.
Something I should point out, the legs can go up about 90° if you put some force into moving them up. It would've just been better if they followed the Naruto figuarts though

IIRC in this form he's only ever drawn to be completely bendy. It's the "awakened form" of his fruit or whatever, so he's just bouncy and cartoony all the time until he comes out of it. There maybe a couple of instances when he's standing still and he looked vaguely human still, but even when he's winding up his punches, his limbs look like stretch armstrong. That said, probably should've still just given him regular solid limbs with regular articulation. But honestly, most people will just pose him doing wild bendy poses and leave him on the shelf that way.
If you untuck the white flapper inside the thigh swivel from his pants, you can make his legs go higher but it’s not ideal at all and it will definitely look ugly with the pants flapper bent up like that but that’s the only way you can get his legs to articulate

It seems like a unique and interesting idea/selling point, but as soon as prototypes came back with LESS articulation than regular limbs, that should have been the end of it. Kind of a bummer for a really cool look. I wonder if the other Luffy figures limbs could be supplanted on this one? Or I guess it'd have to be the whole lower half.
At this point, I believe in any conspiracy that prevents a company from being too good at something just so an up and comer can have a chance to shine.
Feels like at this point bandai just doesn't care they know people will buy whatever they make for one piece. Thank you for making an honest review can always count on you
It really does feel like they make a decent figure, then go back and retroactively add two or three really shitty, avoidable and unneccesary things to every one of these One Piece releases. I think the only one without a major flaw is Sanji, if you can live with Yamato's skirt not being soft goods without third party stuff Makes me wonder how they're gonna fuck up that Ace lol
I'm glad I saw this video. I almost ordered him the other day and thought twice about it, thank god. Dhalsim bendy secondary arms are a fantastic accessory but bendy arms and legs with no normal articulation on a figure from SHF is rediculous. That's way too much for bendy wire with no choice. And then the broken hip on top of all that. I would be furious and send it back for a refund
the figure its decents but man i really wish bandai or a third party company decide to launch a accsesory pack with normal limbs or if they decide to re released include ones ,because yeah if you are careful the bendy wires can last a lot of time but at the same time force you to keep him on a normal stand pose, basically has the same problem that the hot toys figures one has you cant left him on a dynamic pose because the rubber can get damage i really like the idea of the bendy wires but even jada dhalsim came with normal arms aside the bendy ones
I don't watch One Piece but I feel for all the fans that have bought these figures only to have QC issues with pretty much every single OP figure so far
I give this figure a 3 out of 5. It's saving grace is that it does look good. You get it in a pose and the figure looks great, problem is getting to that pose is a hassle. I get why they chose the limbs articulation, but that represents only two signature poses and one of them isn't ez to get him in lol. This whole line has felt like a 3 out of 5 to me so far. Some good things melded with weird and bad decisions.
Everything else about the figure aside, why was I excited to see he comes with a stand lol. That should just be the case for all figuarts! And this might he a hot take but I really wish their figures had peg holes in the back for stands to plug in.
Mine is finally coming in and despite the negativity this figure receives, I’ll see for myself how much of it is actually true. I find that a lot of collectors and reviewers put the absolute minimum of effort into posing a figure and when they don’t immediately get the result they want, they just call it trash. Especially with this line. This happened to Wano Luffy where people said he can’t get into a Gear 2 stance, which he definitely can, and a damn good one at that. Zoro (which admittedly is a very poorly designed figure) can still be posed with a fairly wide stance without modifications, that’s how he displays in my shelf. Sanji’s shoulder joints which everyone finds so horrible looking look great and natural with a bit of effort. And I could go on. I don’t doubt there are limitations to this Luffy, in fact the promo pictures clearly show what those are, but I am certain one can get a lot more out of him than many people claim. The only way this figure can be disappointing to me is if he can’t hit the poses in the promo pics, which we will see once I get him in hand. Also, I don’t get why people are disappointed with there not being regular jointed arms and legs. We knew that from the get-go. That was clear from every promo pic from the very beginning. Yet people preordered him like crazy and now everyone is complaining that they’ve got exactly what was advertised. It makes me think people just preorder shit blindly. Anyway, I’ll see it when it arrives and maybe it truly is awful and a waste of money but more likely than not it’s not nearly as bad as most people claim it is.
@@Damnitgarysame, it's a great figure. He's been standing in the same moon pose for months here, no tears or breakages in the rubber whatsoever. The only negative to me is that they changed the pants, there was no reason for that. Just the Onigashima pants in white would've made figure perfect.
Awesome review as usual. The aura is particularly annoying. I tried gluing it in, but it's super fragile and any pressure around the glued pegs cracks it. So I would advise not doing that to anyone thinking about it.
Its a shame, i love the way it looks! But the bendy arms dont bend as easy as you would like and i feel like ur always scared to break them. They should have had a normal set of arms and legs to go with. The cloud is what a devil fruit user gets when he awakens his devil fruit. Btw my cloud does stay up but it can come of its quite finicky. However it isnt as rough as you’d imagine. I do think could have done without the hinges.
It is not in stock rn. I don't think it has been for quite awhile but they did announce a re release/second wave or whatever you wanna call it but it should be in stock again soon
it was in stock when i filmed this. things seem to come and go a lot more recently. i think their inventory is more accurately tracking cancelled preorders and showing them as available inventory in real time.
I mean we know enough. This form has been around for two years and was animated almost a year ago. I think this was a totally perfect time to make a figure of him since demand would be so high.
It seems someone entirely different has been designing these figures. The problems they have can be fixed with basic solutions. Whoever Is designing these seems to be trying to find something different that works which screws with everything. Thank god that upcoming ace figure has incredibly promsing promo photos and is designed by someone in charge of the naruto line
I was waiting for this review for a while!!!! I knew that if someone was gonna agree with me on how frustrating this figure is, was you 🤣cause a lot of people are making this like is the second coming of Christ made figure "Top 5 of the year" in group figures and I can't believe how deep they're in their delusion justifying Bandai's dumb desicions, I have to take off the short arms and bend them cause the joint could break and the damn hips I hate them, if you put the plastic over the leg, he can kick a bit higher.

I think the only one without a major flaw is Sanji, if you can live with Yamato's skirt not being soft goods without third party stuff
Makes me wonder how they're gonna fuck up that Ace lol
heres hoping hes simple enough to just be a good figure
1. i love the design of gear 5 and the powers it comes with although i haven't watched one piece at all
2. i actually liked the bendy wires
I wish I could find him! He is sold out EVERYWHERE!
keep an eye on bbts. they often have things pop back in stock
@@AnthonysCustomsWill do! Luck that you were able to get him!
It's getting a re-release in november, preorder goes up july 1st.
I got it and was super excited for the bendy limbs but i 100% agree shouldve come with normal limbs as an option and the legs have bad pose-ability
the figure its decents but man i really wish bandai or a third party company decide to launch a accsesory pack with normal limbs or if they decide to re released include ones ,because yeah if you are careful the bendy wires can last a lot of time but at the same time force you to keep him on a normal stand pose, basically has the same problem that the hot toys figures one has you cant left him on a dynamic pose because the rubber can get damage
i really like the idea of the bendy wires but even jada dhalsim came with normal arms aside the bendy ones
I don't watch One Piece but I feel for all the fans that have bought these figures only to have QC issues with pretty much every single OP figure so far
Don’t feel bad, these figures are fun as hell. The only bad one is Zoro, all the others are perfectly fine, especially this Gear 5 Luffy.
Bandai must've been Smokin White Cloud lately while designing this figure.
Everything else about the figure aside, why was I excited to see he comes with a stand lol. That should just be the case for all figuarts!
And this might he a hot take but I really wish their figures had peg holes in the back for stands to plug in.
Because we are used to getting nothing and being happy😭also fact.
I was able to bend the arms for the moon pose, it awesome
@@Damnitgarysame, it's a great figure. He's been standing in the same moon pose for months here, no tears or breakages in the rubber whatsoever. The only negative to me is that they changed the pants, there was no reason for that. Just the Onigashima pants in white would've made figure perfect.
They could've just reused the regular Luffys articulation and did what jada toys did and give us the bendy wire limbs as accessories.
Yes
THANK YOU FOR THIS REVIEW IT SAVED ME
Glad I could help!
I like his form! He literally can bend reality!
Awesome review as usual. The aura is particularly annoying. I tried gluing it in, but it's super fragile and any pressure around the glued pegs cracks it. So I would advise not doing that to anyone thinking about it.
I knew passing on em was the right call. No idea what bandai was thinking. Hope you could fix the leg that snapped off.
I like Gear 5 it’s a very unique take on his rubber powers
Guess i saved myself the disappointment by missing out on it. Its a shame too cause Gear 5 is a cool transformation.
My birthday is soon but my tio and tia bought me gear 5 luffy and chakra mode naruto
One is left on BBTS So anyone that wanted this should go get him!
When he’s in gear 5 he doesn’t stop moving and he never looks normal. That’s why they didn’t give him normal arms and legs
This figure feels like it was made by a huge One Piece fan with minimal action figure experience.
Mhm
Thanks for doing the review
You know what? I thought you cry too much but you give your opinion. Love that!
Those hips do lie
Engineering on this one is so dumb... why does bandai hates one piece figures so much?.... they are all flawed
Its ironic that this video was posted on my birthday and I also the exact same figure for my birthday too
what do you like more Master Ultra Instinct Goku or Gear 5 Luffy
i havent seen luffy in gear 5 yet besides screens and this figure
@@AnthonysCustoms dam well if you ever do get to it, wlI would definitely like to see you make a video of them 2
To answer your question, I hate the bendy arms. I’m in the middle of watching this review and just needed to state how annoying those arms are.
I got it and agree with your points on articulation and some issues. But I really love one piece so its hard for me to hate it.
Damn SSJ5 Luffernutter articulation is rough! Looks good tho.
I don't get the point of this figure. We don't even know what exactly this form is (lore-wise). So, why make a figure of it so soon?
I mean we know enough. This form has been around for two years and was animated almost a year ago. I think this was a totally perfect time to make a figure of him since demand would be so high.
The new arc us already out and the Manga is already explaining the origin
A luffy figure with no articulation is ironic and tragic😂😂😂
I like Gear Fifth its a really fun transformation
It seems someone entirely different has been designing these figures. The problems they have can be fixed with basic solutions. Whoever Is designing these seems to be trying to find something different that works which screws with everything. Thank god that upcoming ace figure has incredibly promsing promo photos and is designed by someone in charge of the naruto line
You can put the Oleg
At 90 just push it more
I was waiting for this review for a while!!!!
Try putting it hot water it could make it bent easier that’s what I did to my figure
Wow! What's wrong with Bandai dropping the ball on their OP line??? 😢 Glad I skipped this after the disappointing 1st Luffy 🤦 thanks for the review, was on the fence on this. Now I get to save money!
If you wanna catch up with one piece you can read the manga, it doesnt take forever like watching the anime, you can read it on your bathroom breaks :v
I love this figure, ive had so much fun posing it. I think sometimes you should just quit complaining and enjoy things. That being said i do enjoy these videos and the insight.
imagine a review where the reviewer said only, "i enjoy it." It would be a complete waste of everyone's time.
@AnthonysCustoms I didn't mean you in particular, sorry for the miscommunication. I see a lot of complaints and whining and I see the complete opposite as well. Sometimes it's just nice to just enjoy things and I think people can get hung up on things instead of doing so. Great videos as always 👌
@@Akondom Then you're not looking for a review, you're looking for someone who can justify a purchase you made that you're unsure of. Not everyone has to enjoy a figure that you like, and that's okay right?
I've been waiting for this
Damn😞. I’m glad I looked at this, I was really kinda excited to pick this up at some point now unless I just stumbled on to one Sure but Jesus the bendy wire arms and all is a let down to say the least 🤔.
Oh and it's hilarious that Gear 5 is meant to symbolize "freedom" and being able to do anything but this figure's articulation is so limited and stuff kept falling off. Far cry from being the "freedom" of gear 5. Almost every figure from the SH One Piece line has been disappointing. Now I think of them as one piece of crap.
I’m so worried & nervous 😬😬😬😬
Yeah I saw a review and returned him from my pile of loot and got rambo3.
Dang he dropped I have a life on us
Ahh I am glad I did not pre-order it. The lost me the moment I saw it had no regular limbs.
I only want the lightning effect :P
Will you be reviewing SHF Eustass Kid?
I like this unique ah figuarts and VERY different but has some downfalls to some people but i" like it?"
Kinda glazing it
Personally I love the figure but i was never actually gonba pose display and change faces yeah but to get him in crazy poses no i dont want to break the figure
