Just in case anyone was wondering, the reason they moved from the dynamic comic packaging to this black bland version is that the original package designer left the company.
Lol. He was the one guy who knows what a window box is. Yeah, that guy left... but, almost every company has window boxes without that guy. Pretty sure he's not the reason.
@@AnthonysCustoms That’s the last I heard about it, seems like they just decided to roll with it instead of hiring a new graphic designer and put in the effort haha
well marvel legends are a fkn nightmare to handle. Hasbro's joints are stiff and stressful to move. This thing looks fluid and a joy to pose. Just to prove again america is idiocracy our toys aren't even fun anymore.
I have the 1.0 version of this figure and its a great figure. I have a 7 or 8 of the amazing yamaguchi revoltech figures and their some of my favorites to pose.
unfortunately no. mvc2 spidey had a very short torso and neck which made him look taller. in comparison this figure has very short legs for the length of the torso and the neck.
Thanks for this review Anthony. Although my collection originated with Hasbro products, I am enjoying some Revoltech products to upgrade those Hasbro ML with. As you cautioned - these figures are not the standard bucks pumped out by the big companies. But Revoltech really nailed the aesthetics without risking any of its functionality. Revoltech's articulation is literally astounding achieving poses never achieved with ML. Currently owning Deadpool and Thor, the only limitations to their posing is my imagination. If this product came in Spidey's classic costume, apologies to my wallet would have been forthcoming. "Silhouette" ahahahahaha. Classic Anthony's Custom Comment.
I've watched hundreds of your videos over the years, but regardless of the review I have usually already made up my mind on a purchase. This time, however, you have completely sold me. Thank you & keep up the great work!
I have this one since almost a year and still amazes me how cool the articulation is and how good it looks on the shelf. Shoulders are a bit ugly, yes, but one its posed, you didnt notice the gaps and cuts.
Ayyy I got this figure for my birthday! My first real revoltech (not including bootleg venom) has been such a blast to pose around since his articulation is what sold me on the fig in the first place. He's an excellent Spidey so glad to hear you give em' a 9.5/10. My copy has like 3 QC issues though, the right butterfly joint gets stuck on his chest, his fist hand has a misplaced peghole, and his right leg likes popping off from time to time. Despite all of that he's still super fun to pose and is just fun to mess around with in general. This Spider-Man is totally worth it!! 🔥🔥🔥
Never really understood what you meant by Hasbro figures looking like people in cosplay until this video when you held up the Spiderman with the giant crotch gap next to this figure. Now I get it, and you're 100% right.
I have so many Spiderman figures, I know I would like this one too, but the Mafex comic book one is great for me, so I'm not pushed to get this, but I do see why people love it.
I just got into Revoltech and I am collecting the MHA line. The shoulders used to bother me, but I definitely look past the janky looking joints. The articulation is worth it to me. 👍
I was hesitant to get this for a while, but I pulled the trigger and I don’t regret it at all. It’s beautiful in hand absolutely, the articulation is by far the best for any spider-man! It’s worth it. Like someone else mentioned, Yamaguchi’s black panther is probably the best figure I own and I own a decent amount.
That review was very fair and complete. I like Spiderman a lot. He was the first hero I collected in comics (1-30 or 40). But like many collectors, my comics were thrown away while I was in school. This figure looks great. Thanks for the review.
This is one of my favorite figures of all time. I hope they use this mold for more suits in the future. It’d also be nice if they revised the knee joint to not pop out, but not the end of the world either
Yamaguchi figures are drastically improving. I just preordered the Ninja Gaiden 2 Yamaguchi from Hobby Genki. Apparently you get a bonus accessory that BBTS doesn’t provide. Amazing Yamaguchi Revoltech is starting to grow on me.
This figure is one of the few with Revoltech where I can look past the kneepads, as it's a Spider-Armor figure, so I feel it fits. Still wish the shoulders were different though.
I wouldn't mind this 2.0 in the classic suit, but I can appreciate this armor too... personally I love mine! Also it looks Miles better than the first one.😮
I agree the shoulders could be a bit less ugly without compromising too much. What I truly don't understand is the philosophy behind the knees' sculpt. Other than that, it's impressive. This brand is always pushing the envelope so people at least should appreciate that.
The Spider-Armor Mk4 is my second favourite Spider-Man suit after the Superior Spider-Man suit and this figure definitely recreates it super well with some amazing articulation to boot. I don't mind the kneepads as this suit is armor and while the shoulder balls annoy me i feel they're less obnoxious here than on other Revos somehow. The gaps are terrible and they need to be fixed though. I feel like a 9.5 is a perfect score for this guy. Thanks for the review, definitely gonna pick this guy up now!
The upcoming Arkham Knight Batman from Revoltech looks even better. The cowl covers up the shoulder joints just like the revo Moonknight figure. Hope you got an order in because it is an exclusive.
the joints on that look so buttery smooth. Toys should start getting docked points for stiffness. you could totally stop motion animate this figure. You could not animate a hasbro product cause every time you pose it you'd have to grab it with 2 hands and crank on it to change a pose.
I don't think toy companies want the plastic windows on their boxes anymore. If they sell a majority of their products through online retailers, they'll just phase out the window because it's more expensive and will be deemed unecessary. Hasbro has already attempted it, but collectors didn't respond well.
Hell, yeah Anthony! I am very happy you got this figure and you’ll like it. Generally speaking, when this company makes a slam dunk, they make a slam dunk. Definitely got mine on the way, and I picked up the iron Spider Peter Parker variant. Now I’m trying to find out how I can get the black and gold Aaron Davis variant.
This is definetly the most articulated Spidey, but I still put my money on the Mafex Spiderman as the definite figure and good balance between aesthetic and articulation.
My issue with Revoltech, and you stated it perfectly, is they look like Transformers. They all look like weird robotic Michael Bay versions of the character they’re based on lol. Not sure I’ll ever pick him up but if I was gonna drop 100 on a Spidey figure (they wasn’t Mafex) this would probably be it.
That laugh during the comparison using Spider-Shot got me laughing as well. There are some who did get QC issues with one of the boots and I think it was the left one (on our right when face-to-face with the figure). For me, I can accept “ugly joints” if both the functionality and silhouette are intact. An infinitely poseable Spider-Man is better than one that can execute barely a single one.
If you liked this figure, I really recommend you to pick up flash and black panther, they are the best Revoltech fgiures so far. The engineering is perfect, no weird cut or anything other than the knees. And the batch of accessories are awesome top.
Unrelated but you brought up Transformers, are you going to review MP Rinox? I know you're a Beast Wars boy like me. If not its no problem i was just curious.
If revo made this spidy the upgrade suit from the ps4 game I’d be over the moon because that mask is the video game design even if it’s based on the mark 4 design
I'm always iffy on Revoltech. I love them and hate them. Totally on board with most of their ideas for articulation; mostly not on board with execution. But one thing you gotta give them credit for: they're one of the few companies actually pushing modern action figure articulations. The industry as a whole and collectors benefit from their attempts.
I want to say this is the 3rd or 4th reissue of this mold. Kinds weird given how much of a blip this costume was but hey its Spider-man. Ive loved Revoltech and the joints since Gurren Lagann, but the knee flaps do bother me. I'm waiting on a more traditional Spider-man especially with how good Deadpool 2.0 and Agent Venom are, a 3.0 would be a home run. I never thought to, but I took of my glasses and held the phone at arms length, and the silhouette really does look near prefect. Great job with the capcom pose.
@@wxrldxfslym7755 the most recent release of this figure from last month is a reissue. This Spider-man is designated as the 2.0. Iron spider and the original 1.0 from years ago are different.
Can they redesign the elbows to function more like the knees? I think if they got rid of the ugly knee cap and used that joint design for the elbows we could maybe have the best knee and elbow articulation out there. I'm curious to know if there's a reason that wouldn't work.
Right from the thumbnail, I don't like the knees. Otherwise it has some good points, I personally prefer less articulation range to have a better look.
This is really cool! Kind of want to try and pick one up now. Another marvel review that would be interesting to get your opinion on, is the recent Marvel Legends Wolverine and psylocke 2-pack, it's a really interesting set to look at since one of the figures is actually pretty damn good, and the other one is pretty crappy, it gives you a direct comparison of what most Marvel Legends are to what they should be in one set. Maybe that'll open the eyes of a couple of Hasbro Fanboys out there LOL
Hes a bit on the buff side for my liking. I like Spidey a bit more lenky. But, I will say that for what it is, it does look pretty cool. It is BY FAR the best looking revoltech Ive ever seen (aside from the TMNT figures)! Sik
Yeah, Revo tends to go very buff for their characters. Look at their cable for example. The upcoming Arkham Batman is also a bit too buff for me. The arms are HUGE! But they also engineered the Batman to cover up all the ugly joints of Revos past, so the figure actually looks great in static pose.
