I live in Poland and the minimum age to get married (for both women and men) is 18. For exceptional reasons, the guardianship court may (DOESN’T HAVE TO) allow a woman aged 16 to get married. However, there must be a very important reason.

There are married people in college. In the USA people a woman was married off once she had her period and for some reason even those marriages were more successful than those of today.

In the West 12 and 13 yr olds are having sex, having babies and dropping out of school becoming single parents. At least marriage gives them a husband and children's father.
Yet some people say USA and other modern nations are behind or uncivilized....Lebanon and Afghanistan allows kids barely out of their preteens to get married (that is child abuse and very troubling) ?! 😮

In the US the minimum age varied from state to state back in the 60s. I do not know if the age minimum still varies from state to state. However, I knew 2 girls who were forced into marriage at 14 and both went to another state to get married. Back in the day it was called a "shotgun marriage".

I oppose age limits for most things, but until such time as parents aren't allowed to force their kids to do things, the minimum age to marry should be at least as high as the age of majority. Some US states still allow marriage under 18 with parental consent. However, most such marriages nowadays IRL happen in the context of religious cults or cultures which lack the Western sense of freedom of choice, and parental "consent" is more like parental force. It isn't like the 1950s anymore, when some teens genuinely wanted to get married as early as possible.

You do know that a little over 50 years ago it was a crime to have sex with anyone under 21 here in the USA. In the 19th century it was not uncommon for 15 year old girls to marry.

I think many of these numbers are wrong, some of them might be the legal age of consent, not to marry. In Poland legal age of consent is 15 for for both girls and boys, and legal age for marriage is 18, also for both parties. In some circumstances a judge can grand permission for early marriage, e.g. pregnancy.

It depends on the crime. I know of two 14 year old teenagers that were tried and convicted as adults in the State of Washington, for killing a family as part of their initiation into a gang. Pretty much any State, 1st degree murder gets a kid tried as an adult.
