    Im seriously afraid for Austin. The reason why it's so great is because of small businesses, bars, restaurants, culture etc. Unfortunately these days they are getting bullied out of the city by huge companies, apartments, luxury housing etc. 4th Street Bars will be taken over by a skyscraper, probably Rainey St soon.

      @anarush9855 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      rainey st was already taken from Hispanic homeowners and residents to be turned into bars and restaurants….this is what happens when you don’t care about residents…if you don’t care about people having housing, why care about some people having a business in their old homes? It’s a cycle, no wonder that street will be replaced by a skyscraper

    UT is all about the money they could care less, y'all should do a story on how much real estate UT has been buying.

    Remember this when UT cold calls you for donations and fundraising.

      Yes, but please don't lash out towards the caller. A lot of them are UT students working part-time getting paid minimum wages trying to pay for school.

    The fact that an educational institution has a real estate office is insane.

    What's UT's explanation?

    • @blackwind6317
      @blackwind6317 2 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      Same explanation that everyone is facing. People who don't own a business such your everyday working person getting out bid and price out homes and rental properties. Literally Texans leaving Austin and surrounding areas to find affordable places.

    I'm a longhorn fan but I'm not really surprised by this move by UT. Austin has become Texas' San Francisco. I do appreciate aTm's conservative fan base way more than the liberals in Austin. Stephen must be rolling in his grave.

    Where are the students going to eat?

    • @UTClassof
      @UTClassof 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      When I was a student, I ate in dobie mall alot. There weren't many restaurants on the drag in the 90's. Mostly record\cd music stores and clothing's stores. The food places came in the 2000,'s. The Whataburger on the drag was a taco bell in the 80's-90's. I graduated in 1991.
