Can not WAIT to test these shoes out on the channel. Got my fingers crossed to be one of the lucky 150 but if not looking forward to the release 🌟 Love what NNormal are doing! Back to the basics and completely re-imagining what a running shoe should be. #SoftReactiveBounce #KrazyKool
I couldn't agree with this concept any further! This is a similar concept I first saw and tested on the Speedland SL:PDX, however, they did not sell spare midsoles and there was only one kind of plush. The replaceable midsole will certainly prolong the life of the shoe specially if it is paired with the Vibram® Megagrip litebase sole! 🤟🏼 Very excited for this shoe and can't wait to give it a go!
Completely agree - I have contacted them several times to ask about buying a replacement midsole. At first they said maybe in the future and now it seems like it won't happen - such a shame, but so excited to see Nnormal doing it!
In fact there were other efforts to make a modular shoe - like running shoes from Raildlight. But those were too heavy and cumbersome. Really excited that Nnormal is taking a shot at that. With their ability to create light shoes for the protection they offer, this concept could get finally a viable implementation.
Finally ? We won’t have to send a shoe to the trash when outsole is used, avoid rotating shoe depending on training objectives, the concept is mind blowing, can’t wait to see it a bit deeper, deeply interested in testing this. Really well done, Thanks for the planet 😊
@@nnormal_official Thank you. I saw another comment where you addressed the refurbish program when the outsole is worn. I love every part of this. ❤️❤️🙏🙏
As someone who runs the full gamut of conditions from loamy forest to mud and snow and alpine rock, having the ability to prolong the life of an outsole by using an older worn out one when conditions are dry, but slapping on a new one after a day of rain when it's muddy would be amazing. Any chance you'd consider a Boa system? I really do think they are amazing (especially the implementation by Speedland where they can be dialled back). The ability to adjust the fit on the fly (tighten for technical downhills), but loosen for longer flat / uphill sections really makes a huge different for all day comfort.
Love my Tomir’s. Only ‘complaint’ is that the midsole gets too stiff in colder (below) zero temps. Having different midsole to swap out should address that concern. Looking forward to its’ release.
One of the main "features" is that you can change the MIDSOLES. Regarding the change of the sole, that's something you can do throught the repairing and resoling program.
i also suggest that not only the sole options, but the outer sole. I sometimes replace the outsole at some speciality shoes repairing shop to save the shoes on a substantiable way. If the running shoes can be replaced the outersole by the factory is a good idea
Lawrence, thank you for your suggestion. The "solution" is already part of the cycle. We have the "No Trace Program" focused on recycling shoes, the resoling and repairability program together with Vibram and now the Kboix.
I'd be interested in trying them. As a woman with a narrow heel and Tailor's bunions, my biggest limit in a shoe is when the knuckle line is sunken into the sole and laminates. I can only wear brands where the flyknit material floats over the sole. I'm stuck with On and Nike, and angry about it.
I have been dreaming about this technology, since 2018 when I realized that cushioned shoes are not good for downhill and muddy terrain, then it is harder to run downhill with a higher stack height
Me apunté el otro día (a ver qué tal). Lo cierto es que no sé bien qué podría aportar yo como corredor del montón (o no tanto gracias al perrete), pero la idea me encanta.
Great concept. Really looking forward to the final product. As with any modular design, there is a lot of responsibility to get it right in the first iteration as it all makes sense only if the parts (midsoles, outsoles) will be available long-term. There is just a limited amount of things that can be changed without not destroying backward compatibility (slight changes in the volume of the shoes by tweaking midsole height, exact softness of the different midsole materials, adding new type of midsole - like stability one, etc.). Hope you will be as successful as you were with Kjerag which is an awesome shoe.
There is something exciting about buying a new pair of shoes. As an ultra runner I love researching my next shoe, going to my local running store, trying it on, taking it for it's first run, seeing how it feels different than my last pair. I don't know if I would get as excited to slip on a new "part" of my old shoe. I totally understand the idea and this is very innovative but I don't know. Now, if you could swap out the tread.....that could have a real utility. Imagine that. you are running to your local trail head from your house on your road tread. Then when you get on the trail you turn a nob (or whatever) and your lugs drop down 3 mils. Then one you hit some muddy patches you drop them down further. Then reverse the process on your way back. Now that could be something. You can steal that idea:)
❤ Estou a ver as novas Kboix..E me parece ser um produto excelente, vai ser mais uma compra de certeza , parabéns NNormal, continuem a nós proporcionar com excelentes produtos e boa sorte para a marca 🙏🙏
This looks like a great idea, but...Have you considered making a wide version of your shoes? I really love your running apparel (clothing) but I struggled with the shoes, because I have wider feet. Just wasn't comfortable, especially for longer runs. I am sure there are many others out there that would appreciate this!!
Thank you for your message. Knowing that for longer runs and hot days it is better to have some space for the feet, the shoes have a wider toe box. But, still, it is almost impossible to match all feet.
@YogaWithCriss very odd, so they announce the shoe this evening and communicate that people can join to test phase yet it was filled up 2 months ago already, sad if that's the case, can anyone confirm that? If that's the case then I'd rather go with another brand all together.

Hola Enrique, Gracias por tu mensaje. Cerramos candidaturas el viernes y tenemos ya el grupo para la Kboix Experience selecionado. Las zapatillas aun no están a la venta, solo para 2024.
This is pretty exciting, will the Kboix also come in a wide fit? (Like Hoka and other brands make) I tried the Tomir but it felt pretty narrow and I have fairly narrow feet! I think lots of us would appreciate a wide fit version! (Especially since you say you want to make a shoe that works for everyone 🤪)
Both our shoe models have a wide toe box, thinkinh specially about those long run and hot days. Talking about the Kboix, being a work in progress, we will see how the final version will look.
Please please please offer an insole with medial support. Whatever the latest thinking is on support in a shoe - the majority of us still need it despite what brands claim
There are a lot of ways how to increase shoe stability - see reviews of stability or neutral but stable shoes on Doctors of Running. Yes, there are more opportunities with removable midsoles. It's just hard to make the right decision to keep the number of options (and thus for example logistics) reasonable.
Great initiative. Its usually the midsole that gets trashed first while upper and outsole are in decent shape. Also depends on diffrent type of running styles. Would love to test your shoe.
I love the modular idea! Will all variations be the same size and shape? Or can it be more, like wider vs narrower, zero vs high drop, lower vs higher stack, supportive vs neutral? For example I always thought it would be useful to have a high drop for uphill but quickly switch to zero drop for downhill. Or different size/shape to just the midsole component could allow a better fit for more people without needing separate skus for the whole shoe for all the variations. I would guess a better fit is more important to most people than different foams (probably only advanced runners care about that).
Just like Kilian mentioned, this is still on a "prototype" stage. That's why we decided to launch the Kboix experience and, with feedback, develop the shoe until it's final version.
Honestly, I haven't thought about changing the fit when I saw the video but it would be interesting to have two foams of different height (very little is enough) to change the volume of the shoe in the midfoot. A bit similar concept to approach shoes from Salewa where they provide 2 insoles of different thickness to dial the fit.
Adrian, thanks so much for your question. Working on finishing the Kboix Experience with all our testers and working on the final details before launch. So, stay tuned!
I Love the Idea and I think it is a great way to make our beloved Sport more sustainable and getting even more in contact with Nature and Environment. BUT I also think it is really sad, that the application Prozess is based on Instagram and followers. There are so many great trail runners Out there, that dont waste there time in social Media but still could provide pricelss Feedback, because of there experience in the trails. In the end there will be again some flashy and shiny influecers supported, that spend more time bragging about their runs, than actually running. Still I will try to get into the experience, eventhough I think the chances are Low, but the Projects seems worth a try, so thanks for that 🤗
Leander. Thanks so much for your comments. For this experience, we won't base our selection on Social Media Influencers, nor even the Instagram Followers. Still, has a brand we always look to have an hybrid approach (mixing digital with in-person experiences) since the Kboix Experience is more than just a testing project.
@@nnormal_official thank you for the comment, I really do appreciate that! That´s is again only proving that you have an inspiring passion about that project, and I am more than happy trying to be a part of this :)
Even this modular concept is not really new, Raidlight e.g. already had modular shoes in their collection. Personally, as someone who runs low stack shoes, I don't see any real benefit of swapping the midsole during my runs. Swapping the outsole would be more interesting, e.g. from 6mm mudcleats to 3 mm road/gravel. I have always considered the Salomon slab sense SG as the best shoe for my needs: it had great grip, was low stack and still comfortable for use on the road.

Hi guys. Just a small comment - I wanted to apply for being a candidate for the testing (I anyway wanted to try out NNormal shoes). It seems that you can only do it if you have Instagram. This is of course your decision. I just find the logic of mandating having an Instagram account to be able to participate strange. I think it would be more relevant to get relevant feedback, and this depends on the sporting profile of a person not Instagram profile) Once again, this is your call, I just found this point really weird.
Andrey, thank you for your feedback. We won't choose the members by their social media follower count. However, as a brand, we consistently embrace a holistic/hybrid approach, aiming to optimize the synergy between the digital and in-person. Especially, taking into account that this project is a bit more than a testing experience.

I think it would be more relevant to get relevant feedback, and this depends on the sporting profile of a person not Instagram profile)
Once again, this is your call, I just found this point really weird.
Andrey, thank you for your feedback.
We won't choose the members by their social media follower count. However, as a brand, we consistently embrace a holistic/hybrid approach, aiming to optimize the synergy between the digital and in-person. Especially, taking into account that this project is a bit more than a testing experience.
So good 🎉
