There is alot of rumors buzzing online that Maria will dress and act more conservative like we see her doing in the trailer at first, but as the game goes on, becomes harder and more twisted, Maria will start dressing and acting more... like her original towards James. IMO if true then this is a change that could be really good if done right.

I like that they brought over the finishing touch to combat from the original where you need to keep beating them on the ground to make sure they are really dead.
In the stream description they’ve said they have expanded on some areas that have been closed off or inaccessible in the original game I’m so excited to see them add new areas to explore
I love everyhing I've seen so far of Silent Hill 2 Remake and can't wait to experience SH2 again.
I don't understand all the whiners complaining about so many things like the combat or characters, saying that they look bad.

I love your reaction! 😁I read on a website that in the reflection of the car glass before James breaks it you can see the reflection of Pyramid Head, you have to see it many times. And one of the corpses in the streets is James, exactly as it happens in the original.
As one who played the OG. I’m excited for this. Unfortunately the people hating on it aren’t going to like it no matter what the devs do. Of which I guarantee, some are “fans” who watched multiple deep dive and retrospective vids. And are just regurgitating what they watched. I’m sure a chunk of them haven’t even actually played the game. (Respect for those who have.) I also apologize for my fellow anime avatars. As they mostly are seemingly some of the most toxic comments on this. Lol

It looks good to me. Ive watched the gameplay trailer several times being that im an old school silent hill fan, the combat looks fine to me, everything looks fine to me. I think Maria, Laura and James all look fine, the other lady from the cemetary does look completely different though for some reason. The nurses look fine, they don't ALL look the same by watching the gameplay trailer. People are just quick to jump on the hate bandwagon ever since the first trailer imo
I don't see most people liking the combat or a few other aspects of this remake, but I'm almost 53 and have played Silent Hill 2 In it's many incarnations, for over 20 years, I like what I see!

@@derekb4977 Nobody's trying to replace the original game. Many people have so much emotional attachment to SH2. And that feeling just cannot be replaced, obviously.
But it's so annoying to see other people gatekeep that feeling. I think modern remakes (when well made) will make the games even more special. It will add beautifully. It will allow more people into the fandom. And seeing from your reactions, it feels like you're trying to gatekeep it.
Resident Evil remakes (except for 3) are great examples of what the franchise can become. The original trilogy will always have a special place in my heart. And on their own they're perfect games. But REmakes introduced me to the series and I can appreciate them on their own as well.
You can criticize them but just enjoy things man.. and let others enjoy it too.

I still think the animations outside of cutscenes could need some love because they still look kinda stiff compared to how realistic the environments look. Besides that I think the combat, the town itself and the cutscenes look great. Fingers crossed that it will be good.

Dunno why some "Fans" yappin... Like overall this remake feels so nostalgic and great! Most of those "Fans" surely didn't play the original games... They expect combat like RE or something. Like wtf? Overall so far SH2:Remake is great
As SH fan and 35 years old player i am satisfied with gameplay. I dont know why people criticize it... maybe for clicks. I especially love sound and music it is not quiet like in RE remakes. Also love that we can read directly notes that we find it adds to the immersion.

personally I see no issue on everything....developer has done great jobs to make the combat look natural, I see no reason why james cant do the thing he do now in remake. For what is worth, if they retain or make somewhat similar combat system like the original, it would be a turn off to the newcomers.

Weirdly, I also thought Angela was done right despite being so different from the original. Considering her age and her story, the looks and the voice acting are spot on. A lot more so than the original, imho.

I'm so hyped for this! Played the original when it first came out, and i cannot wait to take a trip to SH but with a modern look to it. They seem to really be passionate about this game, and are trying to keep it faithful with subtle changes to keep things fresh for the people who played the OG. I think everything looks, and sounds great. Sadly, some people will forever hold a grudge against Konami for the Kojima situation, and will always shit on Bloober, sadly. I think no matter how perfect Bloober could make it some will complain no matter what. Its just sad.

@diogopereira1475 I think her face is fine, if they wanted to do touch ups to better represent her original design I'd be happy. But it's also not a design I hate. Angela is supposed to be very young and I think her new model reflects that well. Her voice and delivery while different (Like everything else in this remake) isn't as bad as you make it out to be. I've known many women at her age who have been abused and honestly she sounds realistically like one. Different doesn't always mean bad. Your brain is just rejecting change like all humans do. As soon as you realize that your brain is just fighting against itself to create an illusion of disrespect from this game, the sooner you'll be a happier person.
All in all if you nitpick every stupid thing that doesn't really matter you'll just drive yourself crazy and angry. Get over it. Move on.
I've watched so many of these react videos to this game that it's the only thing YT wants to suggest to me now. Glad it brought me here! You're gorgeous! Much prettier than the people I seen complaining the whole time lol! And I've left absolute essays on many videos now lol. Off work and don't know what to do with myself lol.
For some people this game is a lot like getting a tattoo of a loved one that has passed away. It has to be PERFECT! For some people it's a chance to see at least a glimpse of someone they loved and haven't seen in a long time and will take what they can get. I guess I'm in the middle.
Yes there's a few issues.
Combat: I get that they are giving a nod to the old game but c'mon. It's still a bit stiff. No he doesn't have to be a robotic martial arts police cowboy from the future but he could at least swing from the shoulders a bit more is all I'm saying.
Faces: Like I said, it's like a tattoo. It's got to be right and recognizable. They done messed with it and people don't like it.
Laura: Needs to be more "cunty."
Shadows: What people really want is for them to take the old cut scenes and bring them to life throughout the game. That means getting the shadows on the faces right and stop with this dynamic lighting already. I know unreal engine is doing it's best to provide realistic lighting which means they may not have shadows on their faces all the time, but we have the technology, lets fix it.
BUT it still looks amazing! I can't wait to see everything they've done! Watching people play this on YT is going to be entertaining for years to come. After I play it of course.

Hello, great video and good luck with your channel :). I am still not 100 percent convinced about this game yet, but I am a bit more confident after this latest trailer. I still don't like the art design of James; I believe the old character model is much better and the movement appears a bit jerky. Hopefully, they will improve the latter before official release.
Thanks for watching! The first re design of James looked a bit too old to me. But his face showed more emotion. He looked desperate. I like the way he looks now too but we will see. The look doesn’t make the character so voice acting is so important!

I know damn well ppl aren’t talking about the combat being sluggish when the game that everyone considers one of the best games ever Red Dead 2 has some of the most sluggish movement ever. Moving around in that game felt like you were a giant brick that would easily trip on anything on the floor. Smh. This game looks fine

@@stuffedsheepshead yea ok buddy. Running literally feels like you’re dragging your feet thru mud. And god forbid you run alongside a hill without falling so easily. I have 26 hours on the game so far and the movement is just annoying. The actual fighting and shooting is nice ngl but just walking and running around feels like such hard work. Don’t get me started on riding the horse mechanics constantly having to tap R1 to sprint
@@kavid8120 I think that might be cause you're using a controller? I don't know honestly I never heard anyone complain about movement in RDR2, but then again to each their own. Hope you're enjoying the story tho. It's one of the best :)

Hi Birdy, thanks for the positive video, its nice to find one. I think the hate is coming from some angry places because that's what people are used to doing now. People complaining because Angela isn't hot tells you a great deal.
There is nothing wrong with this footage, at all. The walking isn't the smoothest but the character cutscenes are really lovely (that's my focus) and James, Angela and especially Laura are all perfectly in character for who they need to be. Laura especially is very interestingly thoughtful before she plays her littke joke. I'm looking forward to this. Thanks for the reaction 😊👍

I don't know... character models and enemies just do not seem to fit in the environment. Also James' hair is glowing even in the dark. Kinda weird look.
I think it looks fantastic . I played the originals back in the day - and I think they captured the dark atmosphere perfectly... The music , the atmosphere , the graphics and voice acting are all great . People tend to complain about everything - no matter what product and how good it is people will complain and that's sad. This looks phenomenal . It's worth watching the uncompressed trailer in 4k for those who haven't seen it - thumbs up.....

I am a diehard Silent Hill 2 and Silent Hill fan in general and as I much hate to admit this is not getting the treatment it deserves.
In a time where Remedy is putting out games like Alan Wake II and Capcom is redefining the survival-horror genre since their renaissance in 2017 it is tough to look at Silent Hill in such a dire state. I am very optimistic because things could change before the release, but RE7 or RE2 Remake or RE3 Remake didn't look like this before their release and those games were made on PS4Pro/XBO hardware for god's sake. Look at Alan Wake II and RE4 Remake and then look at this - there is a big big BIG difference.
also a big difference in budgets re remakes got like 10x the budget this and the original got put together

I'm really looking forward to this game but I don't think it'll sell well due to both sides of the culture war misrepresenting and twisting facts, ignoring evidence.
One side is whining Angela isn't pretty enough and using a very briefly seen, heavily rendered image from the port, and SH: Homecoming nurses to cry censorship.
The other side is screaming about Maria and the nurses being too sexualized, which is the entire point. 🤦♂️
I've played the original Silent Hill 2, and I'm really excited to play a remade version without needing to click the weapon menu to switch weapons or wait for rooms to load. And the combat looks better than the original. I don't mind the change of scenery cause we saw that in the resident evil remakes. I could see why cause it would be too predictable. By the way the bear is not new it was in the original
People are just mad because they thought Silent Hill 2 was perfect just the way it was. Also, cause Bloober Team has a bad reputation.

First off, there's always going to be complaining and negativity. A lot of people are just looking for mostly the same everything with better graphics.
A lot of people are going to want things different-- with better graphics. And then there are the folks that are never happy with anything.
The voice acting seems a lot better. Laura seems more like a little girl than a caricature of one. The cadences seem more normal speaking voices, less 'I'm-reading-this-line-and-acting-all-at-once.' I'm not gonna lie, I liked the old Angela model better, but we have to allow for different interpretations. This is not meant to be the same game, for better and worse. It's a modern retelling.
I won't be getting the game. I played enough SH2 back in the day...and I don't have a proper console to run it on. I don't trust Konami with creating a quality SH game since they scrapped Silent Hills, and sent Kojima packing to form his own studio...after releasing dud after dud, farming the work out to Europe. They have the surface, but not the substance that made those first three games iconic.
I expect they'll be pushing Bloober in the same direction. I'm not ready to wade thru the toxicity of the fanbase again, either. Good luck with your play-through, Silly Birdy.

There is a huge hate for the game in Poland, because the game is developed by a small studio from Poland. Is there such a hate outside of Poland as well?

RE4 was $60 on release. It's a bit disingenuous to compare it now at its current pricing. But ya, it's $10 more than it was as all games are pretty much going at $70 now.

And for SH2's quality I don't think it should be anywhere more expensive than RE titles, but it's actually much more, even more than recent AAA titles like Elden Ring and Alan Wake 2

The reason people are unhappy is because they made Angela look like a man which is a far-cry from her original design, more so than James' departure from his original design. And they made the nurse enemies look like, uh males also - which breaks the storyline & symbolism surrounding James' character (this is very likely far-left/neo-Marxist ideology being shoehorned into the game for DEI grant money, and Bloober studio is working with a neo-Marxist DEI company 'Hit detected'). We see many franchises destroyed by this infection. (this was more to do with the other trailer)
People just want the remake to look like the original did in the cutscenes which is very simple given todays tech and the available source material to go off of. And maybe the melee combat to be a bit smoother. RE Remake and the Demons Souls remake were both 1:1 with small additions. They were very successful.
It's quite astounding actually that all that really needs to be done is the original game copied for the most part, but some studio's can't help themselves when DEI grant money is concerned. If they actually stayed true to the source material, people would be much happier I'm sure. (I'd say people just love the original and want it be done justice, which I think is fair)

You do know that masahiro ito himself designed the monsters? This is basically what he wanted his monsters to look like. Also , calling the model of angela a man shows how you never ever went outside in your life and got all your ideas from video game model. She looks like an average woman you see in the streets. Graphically, the game looks good. But they completely butchered Angela’s look. She looks androgynous… And putting more clothes on Maria COMPLETELY misses the point of why she looked the way she looked in the original... Instead of calling this a remake, they should’ve called it a “reimagining” if they’re going to start changing stuff like that.
6:56 Maria looks less sexual, and Angela face looks bad / less attractive because of Hit Detection company (something like SweetBabyInc). On Hit Detection website there are some logos- for example Remedy, and also Bloober Team.
So that company provide analize of the game and then suggest, what need to be changed or take down to match the game to current young audience - to prevent anyone fell offence.
And Konami made a post on their twitter, with info that the game will be changed/ matched to "Modern Audience". SO it is bad- and we all know now - in what direction that remake is going to. Everything must be less sexual and less face-attractive to pleasure some teens.
The issue is that- they don't understand, that this is not Resident Evil, where the zombies appears in the real world, and you have to kill them with colleagues, and there is no matter how your colleagues faces looks like and what is their outfit.
They don't understand that The Silent Hill 2 is opposite - it is a psychological horror, and it is not the real world, but everything is happening inside the James mind, who has a mental / mind problems with sexual deviations and watch TV all the time.
So all women are projection from TV actress. Maria has outfit of Cristina Aguilera, and Angela has face of Sandra Bullock - they match to James projection of the ideal attractive women.
Hit Detection and Konami don't understand, that you cannot change anything, because you destroy the real/ hidden meaning of the story.

Okay, this is just a theory and definitely something I haven't come across being a hardcore fan. I'm more than happy to see Angela more realistic.
Also saying that this is all happening in James' head and him just watching TV all day again is one of the theories and not a fact as that would clash with Maria ending when he actually leaves SH and is punished by having the same fate imprinted on Maria, what Mary died from. (this is just on top of my head)
