  • GBRF have leased a new pool of Locos from Akiem in Europe - The first 3 have now arrived at Doncaster Roberts Road. 77502 + 77503 are in the white/red livery with CB1001 in grey.
    These locos are now awaiting conversion to UK class 66 standard with the removal of AC units from the cab roof required to meet gauge requirements for the UK mainlines.
    These locos will be re-numbered as follows -
    CB1001 - 66306
    77502 - 66307
    77503 - 66308
    Further locos will arrive later in 2023 once available from the European leasing company.
    A few shots of passing freight and a class 60 light engine move also.
    Hope you enjoy the video! Thanks for watching.

    Ironic isn't it, the one thing a class 66 desperatley needs, air conditioning, has to be taken off these loco's! 🙄Another great video, thanks for uploading. 👍

      If it wasn't removed now, the air con unit would be knocked off pretty quickly.

      Think these locos were built for European markets, so this is the first time for them in Britain.

    Good video... If GBRF are short on loco's view ought to try picking up some of those 60s that are going to waste at Toton... What make me drone do you use?

      Hi James, I think most of the 60’s are past it now unfortunately. I use a DJI Mini 3. 👍

      @@trainsplanes Thankyou for replying about the make of your drone... I'm looking to get one myself... Do you use the extended battery or just use the normal battery.. I've seen on a Canadian video that the extended battery takes the drone over 250g does that make as much difference over here as it does in Canada.

      Hi James, I use the standard size batteries - These last long enough for 6-8 mins of footage which is about the average I take and all of the manoeuvres 👍

    Great filming - did you need permission to fly over the depot?

    Where did you take off from was it near the cafe

      Hi Simon, nearby to where I think you mean plus another location for the opposite side of the depot so I can see the drone at all times.

    What is difference between class 66 and class 77?

    • @trainsplanes
      @trainsplanes  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      These locos are broadly similar to existing class 66’s - The biggest difference is AC units fitted in the cab ceiling which need to be removed to ensure the locos are compliant to UK gauge size.

    • @andrewreynolds4949
      @andrewreynolds4949 ปีที่แล้ว

      They are basically the same design, but the 77s have minor customizations compared to the 66s, as ordered for a continental operator. This included cab AC units on the roof that would not fit the UK loading gauge. I believe the intention is for these to be removed and the units numbered into the 66 series.
