Hey Everyone! Thibault, the co-director here. Thank you for watching Eternal Dawn!
We are documentary film makers with Tom and on our last year of school, we decided to make a 3d fictional documentary. We had 7 days to make it all happen, so we wanted to thank, from the bottom of our heart, all the team behind this film. They are all students but none had experience in 3d.
This was a beautiful challenge made possible by Thomas, our 3d teacher and unreal freelance artist.
Thank you also to Sergey Azbel for his incredible tracks and kindness.
I'd love to answer any questions you may have about the making of Eternal Dawn !
    (Yes, we are science weirdos)

Just to add a little note : *No AI was used to produce this film. From the script all the way down to the final export, we only used our brains and our very modest 3D skills*
When I mentioned AI in the video description, I was referring to its use in the scientific field. Very far from our common usage of Artificial intelligence, some AI models already enable our researchers to multiply their computational and iterative capabilities. For example, AI allows for the rapid modeling of new proteins and new materials. All of this is already evident in our current world. There are countless examples! We have been given the opportunity to generate a bunch of cool stuff with public AI. Scientists have been given the opportunity to radicaly change our perception of the world !

Any flaws aside, I'm absolutely astounded that your crew managed to produce all this video content _(any_ content, really) after just two days of studying Unreal engine & a week of work. Hollywood frequently churns out video that looks 0% better than this, with years & millions to produce with.
I'd love to see what you can do with more time & budget.

Wow!!!! GREAT WORK, team! I'm 70 years of age and was an early member of "The L5 Society", etc. I personally knew Carl Sagan as a friend.🙏 I watched the Space Shuttle land in The Mojave after its maiden voyage. I attended VIP Nasa events as my then wife worked for NASA via Lockhead on the Space Station Science module. LOVED he opening 'commentary' from recorded messages from Humans that were engraved on the 2 Voyager Spacecraft's "Golden Records" that were attached to the spacecraft (a Carl Sagan sponsored project as our "Message in a Bottle" from Island Earth).🥰
I think "Life" is a balancing act, especially for Humans" (We "Smart Apes"😁): Longevity ("Survival") = Intelligence + Wisdom (Intelligence is knowing a Tomato is a Fruit. Wisdom is knowing that it doesn't belong in a "Fruit Salad"). As we're living longer (Science!), our Intelligence & Wisdom aspects are... at the moment... lacking. Darwin hypothesizes: 'that means 'some' will NOT survive' ('some' is a relative word depending on where you currently live and whether you believe in Science).
I've shared your work with other like minded individuals. Kudos! I firmly believe Carl Sagan and Gene Roddenberry would have approved as well. THIS is MY idea of The Future!

@@thibaultfotre My Life thus far has provided me some exceptional situations. Carl and Annie joined my then wife and me in SF for breakfast at the hotel before he was to address the Commonwealth Club on the dangers of Nuclear Winter (not much of a threat these days). Glad to know we have a Savior that defeated death so us figuring out how to live forever in a dilapidated shell of a body is of no concern to a believer. "in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. gFor the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. 53 For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and hthis mortal must put on immortality. 54 So when this corruptible has put on incorruption, and this mortal has put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written: i“Death is swallowed up in victory.” 1Cor. 15:52-54.

one of the best-executed DUST films i've seen so far. presentation, script, visuals, musical score, all worked flawlessly together. nicely done!
    that said, though . . . .
i am not convinced that the two major scientific hurdles that form the basis of this narrative are ones that can be "cleared" in a practical sense. fully rejuvenative biotech and "dark matter"/gravity manipulation both seem wildly speculative to me, and i very much doubt their technological inevitability. but, of course, i could be totally wrong on either count, or both.
furthermore, the potential moral implications of such feats are far-reaching. *Homo homini lupus est.* while the high-minded pro-humanist undercurrent is nice to see (and to desire, even), i struggle to see a future where differing ideologies/worldviews/belief structures DO NOT come into conflict. the scale and scope of suffering and destruction involving warfare based upon and informed by these two titanic scientific achievements beggars comprehension. death and war have ever been constants in the collective human experience; i do agree with the premise (though out of context) put forth here -- "We became something else."
i have lived a good life, so far, and am probably halfway through my time, barring disaster. i am *very* sure that i don't want 71,000 years under my belt. but, then, i'm not a materialist -- i believe in God. that conviction i hold carries with it not only the expectation of mortality, but a gladness in it.
    grow. learn. explore. challenge.
but simply existing while awaiting the heat death of the universe?? count me out.
thanks again for making this terrific video! have a great day, people!!

    • @thibaultfotre

Hey ! You are absolutely right. While we love science, it is very unlikely that dark matter, if it even exists, can be manipulated. The link between dark matter and black holes alone is also more of a fantasy.
That being said, war has always been part of our existence because for the 20 000 years we have been civilized, earth has been incredibly stable. (In fact it has been for 1 billion years).
But I do believe that humanity will come together as one if it ever become globaly threatened.

The only bit I didn't like, was "you'll be somebody in 2000 years". That's a common but pathetically solipsistic "elder's" mentality: Emotional maturity is _not_ guaranteed by age, & it need not take decades to foment. I've known kids more rational than any adult I've met; those who try talking to them like real people instead of subordinates, usually learn this.
Contrary to popular sentiment, wisdom grants age, _not_ the other way around.

    • @AliothAncalagon
      @AliothAncalagon 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

@@prophetzarquon1922 I think you got it wrong. Its not about "growing up" to maturity, because you are not wise enough now.
Its about understanding that thousands of years are so laughably long compared to our natural timeframes, that you cannot even tell what kind of person you will be afterwards. In general, people tend to struggle to imagine their personality changing in the future.
This is basically this "End-of-history illusion" all over again, but on steroids.

    • @AliothAncalagon
      @AliothAncalagon 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

@@prophetzarquon1922 Thats not what its about.
Its about thousands of years being a very long time that will do something to your personality that nobody can predict.

Imagine 10 students in a classroom with 10 computer running full throttle during a week.
Imagine the smell, the atmosphere, the amount of cafeine & redbull for the long nights.
Imagine Thomas, teaching the basics of Unreal Engine to the students while Tom and I were writing the film, making a script and a sheet with all the shots we wanted.
We had an amazing time together. So imagine my surprise when I received Dust's email that told me that they saw the film on TH-cam (when it had 300 views on my channel) and that they wanted it !
