      If just do some maths you would get the result that the stove could get a pot with 1 liter of water at 8°C to boil at 1 min and 30 seconds or on the larger one within about 1 min and 11 seconds by neglecting the heating of the pot it self and asuming ideal conditions(no heat transfer to the environement)!

    • @ethanspaziani1070
      @ethanspaziani1070 3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      There is a saying that exists in the world I'm sure you've heard of it they don't build stuff like they used to anymore it's a very very real phrase especially in this anti right to repair world that we live in and the weird ways that our economies are set up so that we have to continuously buy stuff back then you didn't just have to continually buy stuff one thing and that was it that was the stove or that was the radio or this was the car they had to be robust and reliable the world is such a different back assword way of doing things now way of thinking and doing things now

    • @stevenmiller279
      @stevenmiller279 3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      @@ethanspaziani1070 I'm not sure who hasn't heard of that phrase, and I believe it's absolutely correct. But not always in the way that means things built from previous generations were built better. Car engines have improved in nearly ever way, they last longer, they are more reliable, they are lighter, and they are far more reliable. As far as repairing them? I mean we used to not be able to, but for 25 dollars you can buy a tool to read the codes off the computer. Beyond a simple parts replacement, engines these days are very complex and Beyond the average persons scope of knowledge to fix. The other problem is the human factor, sure we could make a car last for a very long time if we truly wanted too, however someone drives the same car for 5 or 6 years, they want to upgrade and get something nice and new again. But that isn't to say that there isn't some real junk on the market, trust you me, ive seen my fair share of cheap chinesium junk

    I'm more impressed that the underlying wiring was able to cope before the elements went pop. I'd like it if you could take a lil time explaining the theory of how and why of certain things Photonic. Like, why doesn't the whole element glow under proper stress, like why the parts near the grommets don't glow and stuff like that. I know pratting around is the basis of your channel but a bit of education wouldn't be to hard to squeeze in, especially at a mobile cabbage level of understanding. Cool stuff non the less, and it's awesome to see you back. Hope you n the new Mrs. are doing great :)

      Neffers I would think the Metal of the oven body itself acts like a big heat sink so each end that's attached to it is much colder than the parts in the middle that only just rest on or not even touch the supports. Also there's a lot of extra length you don't see that doesn't heat up in the element that goes down to the connection point to the stove to make the things easily replaceable.

    • @userPrehistoricman
      @userPrehistoricman 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The connections are likely to not be soldered, as solder has a relatively low melting point. Even insulation on wiring may be missed, as it's usually flammable.

    • @Neffers_UK
      @Neffers_UK 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nobody mentioned soldering here dude, you may have responded to the wrong comment. It's heavy tabbed connectors on heating elements for cookers and washing machines etc.

    The resistive element stayed relatively stable up to the 480V. Pretty good demonstration of power, since it is double the voltage from when it was 240V, you would expect by P=(V^2)/R to get 4 times the power with a constant resistance. Comes out nicely, 4kW and 1kW.

      I think he generates his own electricity so he might be off the grid but if not then he would be expected to pay £67568488 he would need to be the richest man in England
