Great video! I own a previous generation Morgan 3 Wheeler and it's unlike anything I've ever experienced. The smile it puts on your face, as well as everyone else is so worth it! Love this new generation as it shows Morgan haven't lost their ability to have a bit of silly fun, which is what we all need sometimes 👌🏻
Not an owner, but had a good close up look at the salmon coloured prototype last year.. can’t get it out of my head.. I have a Caterham super seven 1600 and an S3 Elise.. the Super three would complete the set.. test drive next month.. just hope I fit… 🙏.. it’s stunning just to look at.
Wow. You made an impressive video. I love that you took it out on the Welsh hills in the depths of winter. Nobody else did that. The "car" is a brilliant piece of design. They have tried to fit some practicality into it, for the brave and hardy folk who dare to daily drive the thing, or take it on an adventure. I wonder if they export the thing to Oz. My circumstances could fit such a great little vehicle.
What an absolute delight. My dear old dad had one back in the 50s, I would have one in a heartbeat. Suspect I'd be dead in a week but at least I'd go out smiling 😃
Fantastic! It catches the idea not only of the Super 3, but also from all other Morgans (4/4, Plus 4/Four, 6/Six, 8, Roadster…) ❤️👍🏻 its the essence of driving and full connections to environment. I love it!
I use my two-seater 1932 Morris Minor all-year-round and the hood is never up. It definitely gives me a stronger appreciation of my very modern Eurobox. Most people have no idea how bloody good modern cars are. They're just characterless and disconnect you from the road and your surroundings. That's something my 91-year-old car doesn't... and I love it for that.
When I fist saw this Morgan I just didn't like it, but it is growing on me! However, I think staying with rear wheel drive was a mistake. Back in the early 70's I had a Ranger Cub (kit car) with a Mini 998cc Cooper engine. Although in a straight line the the Morgan would win, but in the tight stuff, the Cub would leave the Morgan in its dust (I'm sure)! I'd have a front wheel drive over rear any time. But I hope the Morgan Super 3 does well.
No, billionaires piss resources down the drain with vanity projects and constantly make twats of themselves on the internet. These are far too cool for people like that.
@@Docv400 Honey, I bought you a cheap Renault, put an additional mortgage on the house so that I can buy a 50k, silly, three wheel car for the weekend….. I am sure that goes down well 😅
Had great fun in Dads Reliant 3 wheeler convertible in the "50's. He would take great enjoyment passing their Humber Snipes and Zodiacs at family gatherings. PS great photos.
Was there a particular reason for ignoring all the mud spray up the underside of the trunk lid? That would seem to indicate that it has the potential for slopping dirty road water up and over anything stored back there.
Tbh, it’s a proper road car, all the power and grip you want, probably not that much slower than a supercar on those roads, more smiles per hour in this though
would a rocket III engine fit or a goldwing flat six ? (give it elrctric motors -front wheel regen for initial understeer and rear wheel drive as a rudder )
Expensive alternative to a motorcycle, but you get that same feeling of connecting with nature and disconnecting from life - that reset button. I'm hoping there is a 12V power outlet with sufficient amp draw, as heated clothing sounds like the answer to your cold discomfort.
I'd much prefer the previous gen with the V twin. Just curious but, why on earth does England have NO trees anywhere? I'd hate to live in a place with NO trees. Thanks.
Definitely that motorbike experience in this. The wind on your face makes you feel like you're speeding 😂 super interesting car, will never see one in South Africa though so.. bit of a bummer
I enjoyed every opportunity to drive the previous S&S V twin model although transfer gear noise often spoilt it. Sad that this new model sounds as though it still suffers from it to an extent.
Lovely piece, nicely photographed, edited and narrated. I seems to me that it would be best to think of the Super 3 as a motorcycle instead of a car, in terms of selecting clothing and which items to pack. I wonder if a proper full windscreen that you could look through instead of over would be a more practical option. Otherwise I think I would be rocking a motorcycle helmet as well for those conditions.
Awesome car, easily one of my "would buy if I lived in the UK and had funds" kind of things. I'd take so many cars over the modern crop of super-automated-silly-electric nonsense that is the current auto zeitgeist.
Got to be honest and ask why you’d have the Morgan over a Caterham with more storage and weather gear. You can end up with something as impractical if you want but I’m sure you can get as many smiles and, probably, for a lot less money for similar performance. It’s a bit of a shame that it’s lost the air-cooled engine.
Of course, if you just want to be cool, the Morgan might work. I think it’s quite hard to look cool wrapped up like a cold storage warehouse worker. I think similar-powered Caterhams can look pretty cool and retro for half the price and with a roof. I drive a 1960’s Alfa Giulia coupe and a 1932 BSA FW32 - I think they tick these boxes too.
@@meanredspider it's certainly a debate with a lot of nuance to it. For me Caterhams are badly designed with fundamental proportional failures that have never been addressed so I can't agree they ever look good haha. Looks aside, Caterhams are exclusively a drivers car whereas as James says the Morgan encourages the user to be more adventurous which is cool, cold storage work look or not! Congrats on the garage.
@@K04sesSion - don’t get me wrong: I’m not a Caterham man but, apart from the subjective question of looks, I think both cars fall into similar boxes. I’m not sure I’d try some of the back roads of Devon, with grass down the middle, in the Morgan - that would be adventurous 😉 I certainly preferred how the old Morgan 3-wheeler looked with that engine out front. I’d love to give either Morgan a go but, if I were in the market, I think the Caterham would still get my money.
The Morgan is literally perfect for the road, ample performance… you don’t drive fast at all as it just buffers you around. just about every other car on the road is having its lead yanked to keep anywhere near speed limits, yet the Morgan just floats along and you’re having the time of your life… a caterham has a completely different MO.
Yeah, kinda have to agree. With 4 wheels this would be a lot more appealing to me, but like this i rather drive a bike for a 5th of the price and much more performance. But i guess there is a huge part of nostalgia in it´s appeal for people, i just never had any connection to them.
I really want one, but last autumn I got a Ural Retro Classic combination, similar fun with a large boot on the back of the sidecar. Somewhere in between a touring bike and a Super3
Would rather get me a Caterham or something, for that kind of money...With a little detachable hardtop.Usable fun ,...because this thing is more for California or other sunny places.
Ehm, a very good motorcycle would be £30k cheaper & far more engaging I suspect (I ride all year unless it's snowing or icy but haven't driven the Morgan). Spend some of the change on heated bike gear & I even think you would be warmer.
I supose choosing a cheap engine makes for bigger profit, but really ??? the ecoboost 3 cylinder by Ford ... At first I thought the front wheels had the BMW logo on them and that maybe it had an flat twin from a BMW motorbike. THAT would have been interesting.
The aesthetics of the Morgan 3-Wheeler were a major part of the alure and those were brought about with the big V-Twin engine out in front. The vehicle has lost it all when they chose to omit the V-Twin Engine sitting proud in the forefront. These new Morgans no longer hold any appeal for me,
That paintjob is something special
