God can use any song from any band, live in concert, on the radio or in church. That doesn't make a person a freak, that makes someone touched by Holy Spirit. If you can't see that, then you're the freak.@@ytr3488

Perhaps the greatest, most creative hard rock, acid rock, classic rock "Christian Band" of them all. Rez is also one of the top 500 'rock bands' ever, (top 100 in my book, and many critics as well) ignoring naysayers, scoffers, they paved one of the layers that became the foundation of the entire "Christian" genre (Phenomenon). Most importantly, we may debate all we want about 'teachings, teachers, homiletic viewpoint, all that you may hear about the JPUSA community', but know this- these guys/ gal, they lifted up Jesus, stayed true to their calling, never getting "too big" to spend time during, before & after shows to love their fans, pray with them, encouraging new believers & pointing them in the direction of seeking a local church that preached salvation, & soul winning. They knew what it was really all about... WHO it was all about!

The picture of them standing in front of the bus made me cry 'cause this makes me think of my early years in the Children of God cult. :( The Jesus People groups weren't being strict enough for me and I wanted a "harder word" and went with the COG and it destroyed my life. I should have just moved to JPUSA at the time and not went with them. No one is perfect though because now it seems like JPUSA is very Leftist and kinda into Socialist type of teachers. I still remember when this song came out though. In spite of everything though I am in my 50's and I have never denied Jesus and I will never leave Him. Where would I go? He is everything! :) We are all personally responsible for our Walk. When we stand before the throne we can't blame our lives on what other people did.

Yes, sadly, Glenn for sure has drawn close to socialism and progressive Christianity, not sure where everyone else stands but certainly there are more involved since Glenn runs the "ministry". Very sad to see how hearts can change over time. Keep walking with Jesus -- He loves you!

God bless you! By His grace you escaped the COG cult. After being in a cult it makes it hard to trust any group that claims Christianity. Start with some close Christian friends and see them often, share your prayer’s together , your happy times and sad times. Read the Bible together and learn the trust of true loving Christian friends. Life can be hard and having close Christian friends sure helps!

This song went through my head when I was at Fort Benning, GA in the summer of 1990, getting ready to jump out of an airplane for the first time. 1990 you say? Yup. My college roommate and I had visited JPUSA on spring break and we stayed with the family of one of the musicians from The Crossing, and he gave me a bootleg copy of some music they were fine tuning. Anyway, what a great song, I think I like this version better though. It kept me calm and focused when things were stressful.

In the Ocean of His Love
      Glenn Kaiser
In the peace between the stillness
      When quiet is the sound
      I remember not believing
And yet the joy that now abounds
      Jesus is like an ocean
      He'll engulf and gently surround
With the tide of His love He'll astound you
And He's teaching me how to drown
In the ocean of His love
In the peace between life's stillness
When no one else is around
Do you have that peace with the Saviour? Do you know His love? Does His joy surround?

I haven't heard the whole demo, but I'm sure it would have made Rainbow's End better. Although long ago I almost thought I would have never heard anything better than Rainbow's End, it just doesn't sound right anymore and is my least favorite of their albums.

I was raised catholic. at 25 and in the military I became protestant. 25 years being protestant was a confusing time. so many denominations and doctrines all claiming the same Lord. now I am back in the catholic church. I am home at last, not realizing what I had while growing up. so anyway, I loved Rez band. at least they try to help the less fortunate. but what is their core message? to "accept" Jesus? what does that really mean? say a prayer and your in??? that may be the beginning for some. but following Christ is to die daily. less of me and more of Him. die to self. it is no longer I who live but Christ that lives in me. we can do all the outward works and still be lost in the end. only those who do the will of the father will be saved. and there is so much more than just "saying a prayer". faith without works is a dead faith that saves none. but even works, if not directed by God will profit nothing too. to often we think that we are doing God a favor by "accepting" Him. the question, in the end, will be does He accept you.

Hello Mike John 15:16 Says "You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit and that your fruit should abide, so that whatever you ask the Father in my name, he may give it to you." The real truth is we don't choose to follow Christ He chooses us! Can a dead man floating in the ocean reach out and grab a rope or life preserver? Of course he can't! Ephesians 2 says "4 But[c] God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, 5 even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ-by grace you have been saved- 6 and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, 7 so that in the coming ages he might show the immeasurable riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. 8 For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, 9 not a result of works, so that no one may boast." Because without God's intervention and the Holy Spirit drawing us before we even desire Him to be our Lord and Savior we would never choose to surrender to Him. Romans 3:10 says "as it is written:“None is righteous, no, not one;11 no one understands; no one seeks for God. 12 All have turned aside; together they have become worthless; no one does good, not even one.” It is all a work of God's grace that anyone of us is saved and chooses to follow Him because we really haven't chosen at all, it is He that has chosen us!!!

    • @amywaters7246

Actually if you listen to some of Glenn's preaching, he rejects the idea of saying a prayer and that's it. He says, "you can say the prayer and not live the life, and what good is it? It's empty. Jesus said, 'repent and believe.' He didn't just say believe, he said, 'repent and believe.'" Glenn's preaching is right in line with what you are saying.

Wow, Wendi looks like a Goddess and Rock Child for Jesus at 5:25 I noticed of course the recurring theme of The Ocean Of His Love. So, who ripped off who. [Dreams], (7 years later update --I meant Sara) by Stevie Nicks came out on the Tusk album in 1979. Did Stevie Nicks rip off the Rez band or was it just an idea that was floating around at the time? I have been noticing so many coincidences and so on of the Rez band and other bands. I think Rez pulled from the popular culture of course but I wouldn't say they outright ripped anyone off. They were certainly inspired to mimic other bands and they covered many artists as well. Anyway, I am so PROUD of REZ, Glenn, Wendi, Stu, Tom, Rich, John, and later Roy. You guys touched my life like only my Baptist church did when I got saved. I consider Glenn to be my pastor, as sad as that may sound since I am in Florida. I still have the faith of a mustard seed though. Without Rez and Petra I'd have little connection to Christianity. So I thank both bands and all who have ministered to me for the last couple of decades. Thank you so much.

    • @amywaters7246
      @amywaters7246 5 ปีที่แล้ว

I dunno, the riff in Love Comes Down is an exact replica of the riff in AC/DCs "Whole Lotta Rosie". I mean, exact. I doubt that Rez intentionally stole it, I just think that it was likely floating in Stu's subconscious maybe. Regardless, it's a great riff and no wonder I gravitated to this band when I first got saved.
