I lived in Juneau for 20 years. I was a firefighter in Auke Bay for 15 years. Moved away 13 years ago, this video brought back some great memories. Thanks
I loved the screech of the eagles in the background 👍 Thank you so much for bringing me along on your journey. The scenery is absolutely breathtaking 😊. I drove around the state in '95 and to see and hear a part of your adventure is greatly appreciated.
This trip was just back to Juneau for supplies, we've yet to make our journey to Kodiak. Meant to include an explanation in the video, sorry for the confusion.
BEAUTIFUL!!! Thank you so much for sharing, loved all those great family photos, the gorgeous views on the journey and of course getting to see more of your "new family member" ..Bless you always!!
Wow Len I bet your heart was pounding when you were getting under way. I know mine was. Good for you guys! Really enjoyed the drone footage and stills. hope to see more. Very impressive handling of a new boat Len, 40 minutes well spent! thanks for the ride!
Matt here, answering for him, but yes, he had a case of the jitters, lol. Mostly leaving the dock, this boat is way different handling compared to the Fish Tale. The Fish Tale is very light and corky, at idle she gets scooting right along. This one is heavy and slow to react, at idle the boat barely moved, had to give her some throttle! She's a tank! It was an awesome trip back to Juneau though, started to get a feel for the boat. Noise volume is a big factor we'll be addressing sooner than later.
Way to go on the new boat! I’m excited for y’all. I cant wait to see it loaded with meat! If anyone can do it I know y’all can. God bless y’all, can’t wait to see the big catches!
It's a beautiful place. Wish we could have gotten more time to explore, but boats take a lot of time and energy. Then you feel bad when you do take time off, like you should be working, lol.
Love the video and all the different setup of other fishing boats. Looking forward to see how this new boat work comparing with the old one. Happy and safe fishing. And surprise us with a big halibut 👍in the next video. Bless you all. 💖😀

Oh wow, how neat! It's so cool to recognize boats after so much time, knowing they are still around. We saw a Kodiak boat while we were in Hoonah, a little double-ender converted to troller which we haven't seen in a couple years.

Awesome! Thank you David! If you have good content and an engaging story, the editing is less important. We use Davinci editing software and the free version is excellent and packed with features. I would think you could get some great footage and content from over there for a channel. Just a thought.
Very cool vid, loved the drone footage, very beautiful place, so wild and pristine. That feeling you get when you're coming into port, been 20 years since l worked on boats but good memories, did Tristan get his pizza.?..take care. 🐟🐟🐟
I'm happy for you guys Detroit diesel are as tough as they come there a little loud and thirsty but they keep chugging along i have a V1271 in my family boat
The new girl is looking better and better every time I see her. I think being onf the end berth at Hoonah was a bit of a stroke of luck for Dad's nerves. The tug conversion was interesting. I wonder if she'd be a bit top heavy? Walking the docks to get pizza tourists looking at the big catamaran say "Ooh! Pretty". You guys look and say "Yep it's nice, but look at how this other boat's got their deck rigged!". Pros.
I can agree with that Captain! It was a quick exit. We love looking at other setups, and dare I say critiquing them? We have a good time imagining our own optimizations if we ever did something else.
I heard you mention where you got the boat but I couldn't quite understand the name of the island found due to the coordinates when you cast off. Hoonah. Looks like they cater to lookieloos(tourists). Did you ride the zipline
Yep, its a very nice little town. It was really quiet due to no cruise ships running through while we were there, which was nice. Nope we didn’t ride the zip line. $150 a pop is what we heard, pretty hefty for a couple minutes of thrill.
@@EISAlaska wow that's quite expensive for a zipline ride even if it is the longest. You would think there would be a discount for residents, even if I think it would still be too much
Your trip to Juneau looked great. Came off without a hitch. Len is a great boat captain. Where will you gas up? I assume there must be a pump nearby. Happy Sailings
She will do well by you and you will adjust to her quickly! What size wheel is she carrying? I ran a 36x36 on my Sunnifjord but I expect yours is somewhat larger with maybe less pitch. By the time you get home you should be on good terms with that big lady.
The scenery that you have in Alaska is truly breathtaking, you are very lucky. I bet the air is clean and fresh too? Great to see you underway. Are you intending to soundproof the engine at all? It seems awfully noisy in the cabin.
Hi Dylan, yeah it's a beautiful area of the state, it was a pleasure seeing it. We've never been to southeast Alaska, so it was certainly a chance of scenery. This is a copy-paste from another comment I answered. "We'll definitely get some better noise dampening installed. Out on deck, it's a straight stack right now, just off the top of the wheelhouse, we'll extend that and run it up so it directs the noise away. Inside the cabin, the stack chase is a layer of what looks to be ceiling tile possibly heat guard, inside wooden paneling. A lot of work to be done on her."
Nope, no limit to length. The quota we own is D-class which can only be harvested on boats 35' or smaller; like the Fish Tale. You can harvest other quota classes with smaller boats, but not the other way around. C-class quota we could harvest on the new boat, but we're not sure we'll do that. The Fish Tale is so well suited for it, we have everything set up to be efficient.
Hi captain, we'll have better audio quality in the near future. We got some new lapel mics now that we're home, so look forward to that. As far as the new boat, we'll work on the noise dampening, there's not a whole lot there.
