They make your kart go forward automatically, and prevent you from falling off the track. I’d suggest turning them off, as it makes the gameplay a lot better, even though it’s harder.
Those “zappy things” at Sunshine Airport are actually good: they give you a little speed boost on anti-gravity sections. They appear in other courses, too.
There’s also the booster course pass with 48 additional tracks. You really should play on it channel as well. Also here’s some tips: To boost at the start you hold A at the 2 at the start, on ramps press R to do a trick and give you a speed boost, the coins allow you to unlock more car parts, to drift you hold R and joystick to turn, and the items that can dodge a blue shell are super horn, Mushroom, Boo, golden mushroom, super star and bullet bills.
If you tap R as you go over a jump you will indeed get a speed boost. Hold down and hit L to throw an item backwards, or up and L to throw a banana forwards. Hold L to trail an item behind you, which provides a shield from incoming red and green shells. Lastly, disable auto-steer 😂

Tip about the horn you were holding: it's called the super horn, and it can stop most items from hitting you, including the blue shell (one of the best items in the game) Also, there's something called lucky 8, which is a variety of items, though it is rare (I'll let you see what items it has).
Not gonna lie, seeing a perspective from a noob is kinda nice to see, I used to play 50cc a lot in the original version since the only other game I had played was DS . Here's some help though: - At the start, when the number 2 appears, hold A for a startup boost. In Double Dash however, you can mash A as soon as the number 3 shows. - Use R or ZR to drift, or to trick off ramps - Use L or ZL to use items, or if you don't have any, it'll beep a horn - You can hold items behind you in 8, I assume you wasn't doing that since Double Dash doesn't allow you to do that - The automatic steering mode you mentioned is called smart steering and you have it enabled right now, generally used to make the game easier. I know some comments tell you to turn off auto accelerate, but I'd keep it on if I was you, it's good if your hand needs a rest from holding A.
Also, I guess I should give some tips as I watch: firstly, you have the “Smart Steering” turned on (notice the small antenna on your kart?), which keeps you from going off-track, and “Auto-Accelerate”, which are both mostly for beginners. You can turn it off if you want more of a challenge, though. Also, that “hop” you did is actually drifting. If you use that and hold the button down while turning, you’ll drift and sparks will appear, and it gives you a speed boost once you release depending on how long you drift for.

Tip: you can point your glider/kite up and down with the joystick. When getting a coin, keep it. You never get a second coin from an item box when you already have one. So you will be guaranteed to get a better item.

You hold the L button to use green shells, bananas, or any item as a shield to protect you from red shells. Letting go releases the item 2. Idk if there's other ways to get rid of blue shells, but there's an item, the speaker. Once it's right above you, that's when you should use it 3. When you're gliding, moving the left joystick down means you can glide longer so you can get the shortcuts while gliding that way too 4. R is to drift BTW, hold “R” to drift around the corner, then release to get a speed boost. When you drift, you will see the yellow, blue or purple sparks under your tires!
The item you thought was for helping you in water is a horn. You can use L to blow it and it'll prevent you from getting hit by a blue shell, or blow other opponents from getting ahead of you. Edit: And happy new year! 🎉🎉🎉
You can also use the items to block shells. What I mean by this is if you have an item that is solid, like a shell or a banana, you can press and hold L or ZL to make the item go behind you. So when someone tries to hit you, the item will block the shell from behind

Hi Zxmany! I have some tips. Tips 1 when you have the wings hold back then your gonna fly further. Tips 2 when you choose kart click +/- to see how good they are. Tips 3 when you start the match when second is 2 hold A to get a boost.
It's not that big of a deal, but the intended order of cups is Mushroom, Flower, Star, Special, Shell, Banana, Leaf, Lightning, Egg, Crossing, Triforce & Bell. That's because the last 4 were DLC in the Wii U version. All cups in the Booster Course Pass DLC will be in the order it appears, though. P.S. Are you going to 100% Super Mario Maker 2's Story Mode. This will allow you to unlock some Course Parts in your own levels and get some costumes for your Mii. You can also build some things on the sides of the castle and discover other areas allowing you to meet more characters. Doing all this will slightly change the ending (which you can rewatch if you meet a certain character).

Had DSi years ago, just bought nintendo switch for myself for christmas, LOVE Mario kart, I'm 68 and loving it

When you press the plus button when you are making your combo you can see the stats. PS. You want more acceleration than speed but you want good speed
Btw when ur trying to pick out ur cart before the race, press plus or minus: it shows all the stats of your cart. Also, characters do affect the carts speed.

Each character has there own stats and if you press + when picking your kart it will tell you the carts stats
How you forget tricks in mario kart wii you shake wii retome to trick in mario kart 8 you can trick and get speed also drift also there is blue, orange, purple and coins give you speed also when you can get mini turbo and longer you hold drift more speed you get I hope this helps Wait I forget boosting at start hold a but don't hold a early or you get stopped Wait there is also pressing down with item you can hold item from back

Also you can boost at the very last second to dodge the blue shell explosion

R is to drift BTW, hold “R” to drift around the corner, then release to get a speed boost. When you drift, you will see the yellow, blue or purple sparks under your tires!
The item you thought was for helping you in water is a horn. You can use L to blow it and it'll prevent you from getting hit by a blue shell, or blow other opponents from getting ahead of you.

You can also use the items to block shells. What I mean by this is if you have an item that is solid, like a shell or a banana, you can press and hold L or ZL to make the item go behind you. So when someone tries to hit you, the item will block the shell from behind
Also there is some other tracks that cost about £20 and they will all be released by the end of 2023 - they’ve released half of them already! :)

You got the order incorrect. The Egg and Crossing Cups come after the Lightning and Triforce Cups, respectlively.

@@LipeBrickStudios Yes, the HDMI cable from you Nintendo Switch goes into your capture card, and your capture card output cables connect to your PC so you can record it, and it can also connect to your TV at the same time if you want to play off your TV

Hi Zxmany! I have some tips. Tips 1 when you have the wings hold back then your gonna fly further. Tips 2 when you choose kart click +/- to see how good they are. Tips 3 when you start the match when second is 2 hold A to get a boost.
Tips
1. whilst on a moving side press r and hold until finished moving to speed
It's not that big of a deal, but the intended order of cups is Mushroom, Flower, Star, Special, Shell, Banana, Leaf, Lightning, Egg, Crossing, Triforce & Bell. That's because the last 4 were DLC in the Wii U version. All cups in the Booster Course Pass DLC will be in the order it appears, though.
P.S. Are you going to 100% Super Mario Maker 2's Story Mode. This will allow you to unlock some Course Parts in your own levels and get some costumes for your Mii. You can also build some things on the sides of the castle and discover other areas allowing you to meet more characters. Doing all this will slightly change the ending (which you can rewatch if you meet a certain character).
