    I have ADHD, and I stim ALOT! I'm a trumpet player, so if you follow me around all day you'll notice my fingers moving to random pieces of music. It really helps me get all of that energy out like you said. I just can't help myself, I need to do it, so I'm constantly practicing, even when I'm not practicing!

    I don't often feel comfortable enough to stim. I have more control over myself and my actions than I did even a couple years ago but considerably more so than as a kid but I just feel terrible all the time. I'm extremely anxious and depressed.

    My Stims:
    Squeezing my opposum plushie to my chest, flapping hands, sticking out/moving tongue, ear squishing/folding, loud humming, rocking, hopping, any pressure/weight in general, squeezing (of me or me squeezing things lol), word repetition, bouncing fists on knees. [some harmful stims :( ] scab picking, and head banging

    I bite my nails, suck on my forearm, play with my hair, hold my fists at my neck, shake my head while I rock back and forth. I was diagnosed with ADHD as a kid but I'm in the process of being diagnosed with Autism too. my girlfriend doesn't think I'm autistic but I'm nearly certain I am.

    It's so difficult to explain this whole "gotta get that energy out!!!" to people. thank you!!
    You're super cute, hope you don't mind me saying that. I also have a dog toy that I like to touch, but mine is tiiiny so I can carry it around. I assume you like deer? sorry this is random but my girlfriend calls me a deer because I'm so sensitive to noise and flinch a lot. Deer are so beautiful! Your style of clothing is so cute. Hand biting...I do that too it ends up not being so good for me ehehehe My nose is like that too, my girlfriend loves to squish it xD
    sorry for this super long message

      Thank you!! Oh, I should get a tiny dog toy like you have. Right now, I keep a daisy duck toy in my bag. Deer are so cute, and that's such a cute nickname from your girlfriend (◕⌣◕ʃƪ) I've been thinking about drawing a little autistic deer, all alert and startled - you just reminded me. We should try some less harmful biting stims, but hand biting is the most satisfying >.

    I really enjoyed your video. You are adorable and remind me of cardcaptor Sakura, with the hair and hat and amazing outfit! 💕 I had a lot of stims with my stuffed toys as a child. I guess it seemed, "normal" because I'm a female. But as I got older I was bullied and teased and constantly told how much of a baby I was. I grew very much ashamed of myself. Let alone stims that I had which were more noticeable. Yesterday I dove deep within and stimmed, in public. It allowed me to be in a shopping mall for 3 hours with my husband and two young children. 😱😁 Today wasn't as much of a success. I was in a shop alone and self conscious. I didn't want to seem weird or retarded, which is stupid because disabled, different, unique people have just as much a right to exist and be themselves and I'm the first to support that, it's weird that I'm so critical and unsupportive of myself.

    You can make chewy stim toys! Find a type of fabric you like to chew on (washcloth, old t-shirt, etc) and then cut it up and sew it how you want it. It's safe to put through the wash! I know fun and function sells cloth chewies, but they're based in the US, so I don't think that's particularly helpful for you.
    However, there is a way to safely wash stuffies! Put one in a pillowcase and then tie the pillowcase at the open side (like you would balloon). Then put it in the washing machine like you would anything else, and throw it in the dryer (if you use one) still in the pillow case. The knot will be wet when you take it out, but just let that air dry. And let the stuffie air dry a bit, too. It probably won't be fully dry.
    Your chewing made me realise I needed to chew, so I got my chewy out and I feel much better now. Thank you!

    I must say, that you look very cute in your outfit. I stimm too, maybe a little too often ... I'm just a bit concerned someone will see me doing it, but sometimes I can't help myself ...

      I agree about stimming! I try not to feel so self-conscious about it, these days, and life has become a lot more fun ^^ And thank you about my outfit!! It's one of my favourites to wear.

    Have you tried any chewable stim toys?

    • @BabyRobot
      @BabyRobot  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have a chewy cookie, but it's not as nice to chew as my own hand hahaha... I should try it again, though - maybe I'll get used to the different texture.

    • @Genin99
      @Genin99 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Maybe you could try different types of chewable stim toys if your cookie is not good enough. It might take some experimentation to figure out which chewable stim toy is right for you.

      Baby Robot If you ask the safechewablethings and Stimtastic blogs on Tumblr they'll be able to give recommendations re: firmness, chewing level, texture etc.

    You are incorrect. Stimming can be changed and adjusted to be socially acceptable. I see young men and older men stemming in disgusting ways and they are not that far down the autistic spectrum to make more mature and less unbelievably rude methods. Many of them move their legs to move their lower parts. Teach them to go to the bathroom if that is their need/desire.
