You cant save him, even if you kill the guy who usually kills him, security guy just dies no matter nobody shots him, even blood falls on floor i think. This happens because it is a scripted death, he doesn't actually die from shotgun, i remember there were situations where guy with shotgun missed him, bullet hit the wall on right side, and he still died

They shoot forward for about fifteen seconds and never change their aim to account for the victim being dead and not standing up anymore. They're even aiming above their eye level. Of all the speedruns I have seen, I feel like this is the one that requires the most knowledge of the game to be accomplished. Awesome run dude, it's unfortunate you didn't do one for Max Payne 2, that would have been awesome to see.

Because of the skip at 39:18 the guards are still alive. Normally you would kill them but for whatever reason they somehow end up walking into the laser area which kills them. Fun fact: I actually discovered this trick by accident around 12 years ago after holding W down after closing the comic strip. I eventually stumbled upon a speedrun of this game and noticed Ridd3r didn't use it in his previous run so I told him about it to save him time! :)
cut ridd3r some slack. people griping about bugs and glitches should really look up summoningsalt’s videos...he documents the history of certain games’ speedruns and the subsequent speedrunners who defined the history of those games online. people don’t understand I think how difficult it is to perfect glitches and bugs within a game to perform them as perfectly as ridd3r or many other speedrunners do. glitches and warps are accepted for most games and given their own category in speedruns, so it’s not cheating by any speedrunning standard either. what ridd3r did is pretty fucking cool and I’m sure took hours of gameplay...Thanks for sharing this with us. I couldn’t sleep and wanted to rewatch gameplay of one of my favorite childhood games and I got to see this amazing spectacle because of it. Kudos to you and all the work you put into it

in train cutscene he fell - because tre train pushed him, smth like that. So, that was enough damage for max to die. But you can't die in a cutscene, so we have the walking dead, and enemies think that you are already dead
Full Focus That's the jumping bug. When you on a 2-Hand Weapon, Switch to 1-Hand Weapon and press jump. If you on 1-Hand Weapon, just switch to 2-Hand Weapon and jump.

Sorry I'm not a speedrunner, so I'm not sure about terms like "pro2" and "pro3" but anyway I was referring to the cutscene that appears at 18:13. A jump into the living room will let you skip the trigger for that cutscene, so it doesn't even appear. But it'll be slower than your roll + save glitch. Just thought you might want to know...

Yes, for whatever reason shooting at the helicopter does that, but it's totally random each time you do it. Sometimes it works, other times it takes a little longer.
OOOH now it makes sense! BTW, did you use a macro for super jump? How did you get it so consistent? Because my macro only works maybe 30% of the time at 60 fps.
Ah I think it was probably max payne 2, I heard the speedrunner Saintmillion talk about it during SGDQ earlier. I guess maybe the same mechanic doesn't apply in the first game.
Scott Warren Ah OK, so the gate only gets shut if you engage the guys in that last room and then one of them pulls a level which shuts it. If you roll to the exit they don't get chance.
Highlight either the desert eagle or the commando and keep the panel up, when you need to jump, start bullet time and select that weapon and jump at the same time, it's be something like weapon# - - - leftclick+rightclick+space in that order.
Which Max Payne game is better? Max Payne 1 or Max Payne 2, I prefer Max Payne 1. Great job on the run man, I'm proud of ya. I will never do such a great run like you. But It's nuthin'.

Can someone explain to me why every speedrunner looks down at the ground majority of the games? Is your aimbot to powerful that it wont show unless you aim it at the ground, until the right moment? What is the benefit? Aimbot is the only thing I can think of. so your mouse doesnt race all over the place and you wont get caught. Or is there some secret to it that makes you run faster? The fuck is that?
Rolling is significantly quicker for pro2 & pro3, I've tested it several times. You can skip several cutscenes in pro1, but super jumping skips all but one and saves a couple of seconds on the stairs. Unless you're saying you can skip that cutscene?
@HuskyTdC I was skipping a cutscene. It occurs there because I skip the killer suits at the mona cutscene. The killersuits end up running into the laser fields for some reason.
i love it how you cut some missions like the mission before the last: you skip 2 floors at the beginning, it takes you 5 secs to get there without cutting it takes about 5 mins or longer then 25:38 that jump is awesome, you actually cut the whole mission! 10:16 why dont you die from that height? is that because of the endscene? then in max' first nightmare: is side rolling faster then front rolling? same in second?
43:38 I was today years old when I realized Max never shot the two cables on the other side of the rooftop but instead they were cut by the strength of the wind.
@@coreyS33 How could he possibly shoot them from where he stood? The only explanation would be that the snow storm overpowered the two inaccessible cables and cut them. I'd say that the storm played quite a role in killing Horne, because if the wind wasn't blowing in the direction of the helicopter, the antenna would've likely toppled over to another side, missing the helicopter.

Usually when you empty at least 100 Ingram bullets in that helicopter, that window just closes.

When you spam bullet time, the bullets that are already currently in the air won't hit you if I recall correctly.
Don't think that's true. If I don't get attacked it's because I skipped their trigger zones. It's all explained in tlinks in the description.

Max Payne 1 is the best. None of the sequels compare to the original.
Everything is great. I really love the whole story. Surely, the first is the best, but the third turned out to be very very close. Genious storylines.

Because its easier to roll looking at the floor. He shoots the floor because it causes the NPCs to miss firing bullets at you.
@LucaTurilli89 Super jumping up the stairs skipped their trigger point (which is around the bottom of the stairs).
