Another good video, Mark. This video sort of touches on it, but how would you deal with someone in the "sacred name" movement who insists on the original pronunciation of The Father's Son's, and Spirit's names? I like how you bring up the name John at the end (and your own biblical name Mark) because they never say anything about those changes in pronunciation (at least not that I'm aware). I'm curious as to what you would say to such a person.
Very good ...I never knew this and I have been a Christian for 45 years. I'm glad you come up with such a variety of topics. Are you from Scotland or Ireland?
Think there’s a bit more to it. Should consider looking into Francis Bacon’s influence and motivation for elevating the English language, and his time spent in the court of King James while the Bible was being brought into accordance to the wishes of the Puritans and the King himself.
No, it's about establishing trust based on credibility and how the problem of the game of telephone is analogous to confusion created by discrepancies between translations.
Would be interested in seeing similar video on the topic that Yeshua was a common name of the period and region, and that another Yeshua is found in the hebrew old testament. Yet, when translated the "other" Yeshua became Joshua and our Yeshua the Christos (Yeshu) retained a more transliterate version of the name in Greek (Iesu or Iesus). Presumably this was done to distinguish Jesus from Joshua more easily.
Old Testament names have also been mistranslated... for example, Moses is Moshe, Joshua is Y'hoshua... even the books such as calling D'varim, Deuteronomy and M'lakhim Alef, 1 Kings.... and so on
I believe in god whole heartedly!!!!!!!! the names are clearly European. Names don’t translate. When I’m in another country my name is the same. If I ask an Asian or African their name they won’t change it to Tommy because I’m American. There still aren’t guys named Peter or Matthew in the Nile valley to this day. I would like to know their actual names and not the name Europeans appointed during rewriting of the holy book. I feel those names came in around the same time the picture of a European was presented as being a picture of Jesus
Since when do you translate a personal name.using chocolate to make an apple is common but the product itself has nothing to do with apple's .its takes out the authenticity flavor taste and effects leaving you with just a disguise

hahahah Chinese translation of Mark as a name is 马克,it pronounces exactly as Mark in English. 标记 is the meaning of the word mark when it‘s not used as a name.
I have come across a certain group of people who believe that the name Jesus is actually translation of Zeus and they say that we have to say Yeshuah and not Jesus . Is there any truth in this
The origin of Zeus theory _may_ be false. But the belief that we should call the Messiah by his original name while here on earth is very sincere and comes from a good place in ones heart. People who do this have a strong conviction and the bible says to let people be convinced in their own mind. So I think the question is wrong. It's not about weather it's okay to call Jesus Yashuah but weather people follow their own conciousness. I suggest you instead explore the history and study the name changes and make up your own mind.
ov j this thought mainly comes from the Hebrew Roots movement that is going through the church. It is definitely good to acknowledge and study the roots of our faith, but some have taken this too far and are now trying to, whether they realize it or not, put believers back under the law. Some have gotten so deep into the movement that they stopped believing in Jesus and converted to Judaism. 🤦🏻♂️
@@onehappydawg I hear that! It boggles my mind to go to a sunday sermon & the bulletain sez it's on Philippians 4, but then when the sermon starts, the pastor jumps right back into the old testament to show proofs of Philippians rather than the Gospels. Buried Axblade I can understand that if they are advertising NT and teaching OT. I will say this however, I’ve leaned so much more about the NT by deep study in the OT. Just like Jesus said, “You study the Scriptures(the Old Testament, the Torah and the Prophets) diligently because you think that in them you have eternal life. These are the very Scriptures that testify about me. The best way I’ve learned to study the OT is to only look for Jesus in it. The Hebrew roots movement’s downfall is they are looking for more than just Him.
It is hilarious that people could say such a ridiculous thing! I my mother tongue the disciples are called Mattheus, Petrus, Judas, Markus, Lukas, Johannes, Jakobus (James!) to name a few. I never assumed these are the names that Jesus actually called them by! 🤦♀️
are we speaking English? the letter J became a letter in 1524 and pretty much stopped being a Number and was done by a Roman Catholic...oddly enough the Jesuits also came into being at this exact same time, along with Martin Luther! So, somehow the Yews finally contrived away to change the name Iesus into a Different Name. Because someone somewhere believes that True Names have Power. And now, since Jesu, Joy of Man's Desire, ceased being yesu, we've been convincing ourselves that the pronounciation doesn't matter it's the Person of Christ and the church has been pursuing Christ rather than Jesus' and the Gospel for millenia. Even Martin Luther had to bring it to bear that the Christ, Jesus, was Salvation, not the works of the Christians.
@@onehappydawg I am saying that we should know the Gospel, and who Jesus is to be praying in the Son of God's name. Whether we call him Messyach or Jesus or eesoos. As long as we have the gospel imbedded in our hearts and minds, BOTH, and we know that Salvation is presented to us through the Christ, with a name, we say Jesus in America, then we know to whom we are praying. But people just using Jesus as a magic word or a cuss, well I'd definitely say they should be using the Yahshuah or similar, whereby they KNOW they are taking a True Name in vain. I hope that makes sense. If you know the gospel Jesus, you got it, if you only know the religion G'$ US, then it's just empty pleading or cussing.

Hi there, I came across your comment and thought I would explain something that many viewers on TH-cam don't realize. I also have a TH-cam channel so I understand this from the other side. When your channel reaches enough views and subscribers, you are given the option to 'Monetize'. This is a simple application and does not give any indication on what type of companies will be advertising on your channel. Its just a simple 'yes or no' to wanting ads on your channel. From there, TH-cam has certain companies they deal with, and algorithms to figure out what to advertise and to whom. So for example, when I watched the last video for The Fuel Project, the ad was for a business startup plan. Before that it was a local ad from my auto insurer in my province in Canada, warning of the dangers of texting and driving. These ads are generated based on trends in your area, your own preferences and viewing habits and also the companies guessing what the viewers may want to see. So if The Fuel Project cuts ads, they have no income to produce content except for by crowdfunding or charging a subscription fee. He has good quality content and equipment costs money, so I assume this is the best way forward to spread God's message without begging for money. Hope that helps!
Afra Runduml TH-cam is not the same thing as a church. It takes money to do the research and get the equipment to make videos like Mark makes. If you don't want to see ads you could buy the video series on the Fuel Project website and actually support his ministry as Paul encourages in the last chapter of Galatians, in 2 Corinthians, and other places. If you are spiritually helped by a ministry, you should invest in that ministry what you are able (above your typical tithe, that is; it is not a replacement for tithing to a local church).
