      @lonahg 4 ปีที่แล้ว +25

      @@bigbromiki1 His life didn't go wrong when he "decided to be a criminal". Back in the 60s life was different. It was about free thinking and freedom of expression, in thought, in physical appearance and psychological exploration. Weed and LSD was just around. And George was an entrepreneur at heart, he saw the demand for drugs and an opportunity, and he took it. It was a way to survive. A way to make money without conforming to the 10-14 hour life-taking ideals of working hard for peanuts. He found a way to corner the market and make a ton of money and he did it. Getting involved with trafficking large amounts of weed was the predecessor to his introduction into trafficking cocaine. He could traffic half the amount of product by weight and make 4x the amount of money by switching product. He was a victim of the times and did what anybody else with his connections would have done. He's not a criminal any more than the government who allows heroin to be transported into the country. Problem is, the government didn't get a piece of George's monetary pie, so they shut him down. He's not a monster. He's a human being who saw an opportunity and took it.

      Of course big criminals are famous, most of their crimes had a great impact on society. But, at the time of this enterview he was no more a criminal at all. He paid for what he did, and once out of the jail he was again free and EX-criminal. But sometimes criminals made history, and have a lot of things to talk about and teach later. • @finallight1061
      @finallight1061 5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Highly doubtful, he only dealt with a small group of people that he knew and trusted. He was likely responsible in some part for the deaths of many people, however. Just think how many cartel members were killed by extension of his empire, not to mention all the people who overdosed, or who were killed in gang related activities brought on directly from his smuggling. Really makes you think how immoral of a person you have to be to have been this man. The movie glorifies drug smuggling, and also paints him in an almost Christ like manner. He never wrongs anyone, never does anything that makes him look like a bad man, never does anything morally questionable (Other than the drug smuggling), he is altruistic only caring for his family and getting walked on. I still liked the movie, and it was very well done, but people tend to forget about how much pain and misery he caused. How many cops were killed because of his activities? Honestly, he should have gotten life in prison, or the death penalty. Unspeakable acts of evil were done because of his drug empire.

    A lot of deaths and lives wrecked by cocaine. George Jung is responsible for a significant part of that. The outlaw image is compelling and I did a little of that cocaine, but as George says, with age comes wisdom. George Jung is not someone to be admired. I don't see that he has accomplished anything good with his life.
    The guy's name was Richard Barrile, not Derek Foreal.

      I dont think anyone forces a gun to most ppls heads and tells them to do drugs... everyone should take responsibility for their own life choices. You cant point fingers his way when there are tycoons and ppl making millons off the alcohol business, how many lifes has alcohol ruined?. Or taken away.. im sure more than cocaine or any other drug has... so who are the real criminals?. Perspective my friend

    Countless acts of evil were caused because of this man. Cops died, families of the cartel were murdered, gang violence and murders, people overdosing, the whole war on drugs, this man should not receive any sympathy. The movie was a good movie, and very well done, but don't feel sorry for this guy, or mistake that his crimes didn't hurt anyone. I believe the movie does society more harm than anything. The movie ABSOLUTELY glorifies drug trade. It tries to make it seem like you can be a drug smuggler, but be an altruistic good man at the same time. This is not the case. The man has a heart of greed, which has caused immeasurable suffering for thousands of lives. His insatiable greed for money and a lavish lifestyle caused horrific suffering of others. Sure, he may not have directly killed anyone, but the amount of misery and pain he has caused might as well count as murder. He could have quit with the weed and made plenty of money to live an honest life afterwards, but his greed was more powerful than any of his virtues, or lack thereof. We all hate greedy wall street brokers and millionaires, but I guess it's okay when they made a movie about you and your drug smuggling?
    His bitch wife should have been locked up too and had her child removed. I wouldn't have visited my dad in prison either if I foundout what he did. He probably ruined his daughters life in the process, now she's always going to have to be the daughter of "Boston George". What a shit gig that is. Fuck this guy.
