Nice car mate, im from Australia & also have a vrx only here its called Magna.
Over here the vrx's from year 2000 onwards have a 5sp tiptronic shift gearbox that makes them accelerate quicker.
Mine is a 5sp manual though & that really goes!
The motors can last easily 250000 miles upwards if serviced correctly.
Good vid anyway & hope you continue to enjoy your car for many years:)

Thanks! Awesome, I wish mine at least had Tiptronic, but that didn't come in until 2004 which was the last year for the Diamantes in U.S. Very awesome that you have a 5 Spd, also very rare to find one here. I would buy one now if I found one, but the odds of that happening... This one is still sitting under 100k, but I have to get the Valve cover replaced soon. Thanks!

Yeah I know what you mean, still you got a great car mate so enjoy it.
These v6's have more character then the equivalent Toyota/Honda.

Very Glad to hear that! Hope mine will make it that far, I have a couple things to still deal with but it should be too bad!! Thanks!

Nice car, It seems the maintainence issues u mentioned are the same as mine haha. Replaced alternator, gaskets. I've upgraded the brakes to the Mitsubishi 380 brakes.overall they are reliable cars, mines done 181,000 KM. thanks for the vid mate!

Yup that is the warning it gives! Sorta sad how a $800 Bosch Alternator fails in such a short amount of time and use in my opinion. Hopefully the new Alternator will hold!

Thanks, haha guess they're common problems! Are the 380's brakes larger in size? Pretty sure it's the same as the Galants over here just with different looks and spec trims. Nice still a long way to go! Thanks for sharing man!!

The exterior styling like the first diamante has subtle bmw cues like the smaller galant but the dash and interior is executed similar to toyota and lexus

Yep the 380's brakes are slightly bigger, I'll probably do a 380 engine and transmission conversion if the engine or transmission gives way. Lots more power on the 380 and a much nicer transmission. How long have you had your Diamante for?

Overall diamantes aren't too common this 2 nd gen though is more so than the original diamante seen more living in fort worth than I've seen anywhere else I think these cars just didn't sale well one because of the crowd they were trying to sell it to.

This was intended to be a near luxury sedan with a touch of sportiness but really these cars are comfort biased overall

The only one I've ever seen is that someone that works at my school drives one.
About Mitsubishi reliability-actually, where I live, it's only domestic cars that are beat up on the road. All the old Mitsubishis I see usually are in as good shape as Hondas and Toyotas. However, where I live, I actually see more old Nissans on the road than Hondas and Toyotas, and Nissan is said to not be the best for reliability like Honda and Toyota.

Nope they aren't! Yeah they do depending on the car though, had a friend complain about the leather of his I believe 08 Accord EX-L's leather seats showing signs of wear around 30k even with no use of the rear seats. But newer cars here and there have their ups and downs on build quality now.

Yeah you are right about that, but they got us to buy it haha!

The interior materials themself aren't bargain basement cheap in look or feel but fall short of intended rivals by lexus and acura primarily

I have a 2000 Diamante... and THE ALTERNATOR will go... without fail it will fail. If you see your Battery and brake light light up together... time for a new alternator...and they will bench test it and it will show its putting out 14 volts....but its still bad... replace it

Haha it sure does which I sorta like and hate at the same time. Haha well not exactly hate but can't think of another word for it.
