They rebuilt the 3 miles of track from The UP yard in Palestine to the depot and are upgrading the rest of the line.

Since Iowa Pacific isn't actually buying the TSR but instead is buying the lease to run the railroad, I doubt any steam engines will be sold. It would be very surprising if the TSRA decided to do otherwise.

That is a big locomotive to be a 2-8-0.

also 300 recieved a new boiler some years ago cause she actually needed one but since the iowa pacific owns the SLRG and they run steam you can be sure they will do a heck of a better job with the TSR. I doubt all 4 steamers will stay with the TSR but this is all i know as of right now

i've been wonderign the same thing. Now that the Iowa pacific holdings have purchased the texas state railroad we should see some dramatic changes. #500 recieved a new boiler although she didn't need one. They found it cheaper to have a new boiler instead of repairing the old one. But they didnt have the money to install it so the unneeded boiler hasnt been touched since. The thinking is to just repair the original boiler. As for #400 she needs a 1472 with boiler repairs. time will tell
