As a MN lake of the woods local fisherman I really do miss the days of home made ice houses...used to be so many cool ideas and designs and colors out on the ice. Now it's all Ice castles and their competitors
Nice shack boys! My brother and I built (2) 20x10 shacks this winter that can be used independently or they can be joined together to make a huge 20x20 ice castle. One of the shacks serves as the kitchen, dining room/living room, and sleeping quarters while the other one is strictly used for fishing with just a 40inch TV to keep us entertained. The season has only been open for a little over 2 weeks where I live, but we have had a blast so far.
I could be wrong, but I think they were using that just as a sealant for the seams? Maybe I'm wrong. I don't think it was intended to hold anything together.
If you didn’t have any hiccups at all I would have to question the entire build. Since I always have hiccups when building things I give this my stamp of approval! Great job men!
Can you caulk when it's that cold out? I have always been told you need to caulk in some warm weather or in a heated shop. Maybe it dosn't matter thought.
Great video, the ice shack looks amazing, thumbs up to Artspan. If I could make a suggestion make sure to have the ice shack raised from touching the ice so that the skies don't freeze into the lake. Had this happen to me, the sun heats up the skies and melts the ice around them than the shack sinks just enough to get caught into the ice on cold day and nights. New sub!
They have propane burning stoves. That is what I would go with. Dumps out the extra humidity and don’t have to worry about CO. For $300 they are a steal.
Love the video as always Jay. Why would it have not been spec’s with holes in the corners, or six around the perimeter for more separation? Of course this is a more “social” layout
@@JaySiemens DM if you want some ideas on acoustics, I'm also aware that there is a certain frostbite staffer than could get you in inside scoop on some sweet lighting for that shack
If it's super sturdy, you can rent it out. Especially if you live on the dang lake. Pull it out for them, or let them borrow the UTV, and get some money from it. If it does well, build another one, and do the same.
I want a shack, but I only know TWO things about ice fishing which I learned from a military buddy who had done it thousands of times. He told me, one, never be the first truck or shack on the ice. Then he told me, two, never be the last truck or shack on the ice…… that’s it, that’s all I know.
I feel like the “how many Canadians does it take to build a shanty” jokes have to be rolling out lol. Awesome shanty though!
Usually 2 eh
But where was the Canadian ice beer, cause that looked at least like a "two beer" job to me!
The Calk might cure by July 🤣🤣🤣
@@wowbest111 That’s what I was thinking
That thing looks so well insulated that if u put a window AC unit in u can use it as a cooler come hunting season. I like it.

I would much rather use a homemade drop axel fish house rather than a manufactured house.
As always Jay, this video has incredible production quality! Great looking video.

Check your math bud. With 2 20x10s you could make a 20x20 or a 40x10

Been looking at these for awhile now, nice to see a in depth video on it!!
Interesting the assembly in the cold with construction caulking. Very interested in seeing the durability and longevity.
The Calk will cure around July 🤣😂

@@macgyver2169 you could be right but I didn’t remember seeing any fasteners being driven.

@13:22 his face when you set the hook, lol. He was in lala land and came back quick.
Congrats on the 100k!
Great video, Clayton will be proud of you, christened the shack with the good old jig and a minna
Great job cuz. Loving the shack and all your videos very helpful. Congratulations on brining in the a new Siemens to the family
This is the style shacks we have over here in Maine! Love having a cozy little home on the ice! Love the shack Jay!
Absolutely amazing, and congratulations on the new baby. Love your channel, please keep up the great work.
Canadians are a different breed. Awesome build and great looking product. And that fish on the graph at the end was insane. Great video!
Much cooler than yanks that's for sure
“Great day for (he’s gonna say hay) makin shacks.” Well, I was wrong. Sweet video Jay!
Letter kenny will do that to ya

Definitely not ideal from what artspan recommended, but I’m pretty bad at following direction.
Awesome videos, this is going to be a banger!!
Josh definitely knows what's up with the spices!!! Crispy chilly (Lao Gan Ma) saved me during my entire university career!!!
renting this thing out is actually a fantastic business idea, it would make a more luxurious ice fishing experience way more accessible
Love it when a new vid drops!!
Sweet! I’ve always wanted to be able to fish and stay in one for a couple days. Watching and living vicariously through this haha

I agree
Yes, that sucks.
got any Rainy river plans Jay? loving the videos, and the fact that its darn close to me alot of the time!

burning propane increases humidity, massively.

Looks sweet nice walleye keep up the hard work.
Very cool/different video. For me, 50% of ice fishing is tinkering and building new/cool things to use on the ice. This video hit that sweet spot.
Congratulations on 100,000 subscribers Jay!
I could build one hell of a hut for 8k that’s crazy expensive
Greatf Video..Thanks Jay. I'll be looking up those shacks
Must be awesome waking up and hitting the lake on your door step.
Nice shack wish we had some ice in south Michigan deer hunting over time to go north lol
I've only seen darker walleye are white ones common or eat different in flavor?
Love the content Jay you keep me fishing keep it up
Did you see the look on the walleyes face? He was like oh my god this is a beautiful shack.
You could probably heat this place with a candle. Great fish house
100k way to go jay
You need another video in this to see what he's done now. Maybe some rattle reels on the walls?
The Ice Shack is a little ol' place where we can get together. Ice Shack baby yea.
Damn this looks awesome. Cant wait to see some Lake Trout videos with this!
Americans going to Canada: bro wanna go to sleep? Canadian: what’s sleep? I’m going to build an ice fishing shack at midnight 😀 American: wait what?
We bought 2 for our fishing camp last month, can’t wait to get them mid January .
I feel like ice fishing is about the experience more than the fishing itself.
That's awesome guys! What an awesome sponsor!
I want that Eskimo jacket where did you get it or where can I get it
I like the Old Town hoodie. Repping Maine where you have many viewers, no doubt.
I'm also on Lake Manitoba, which part of the lake is this? I'm at Bigpoint.
That is one silver looking walleye, cool to see the change from lake to lake 👍
Great content latley jay
look forward to every video! keep it up man
Jay showing off his project manager skills on the build.
Time for a wall mount for the tv so you can watch the games 🔥😂
How many months did it take for that silicone/adhesive take to cure lol
Awesome video as always!
Watch Mav. He spends way less and has a portable tent he uses and catches alot of fish and good videos. Nice video .
Awesome building one as we speak
Seems like you could go to lowes grab some spray foam and sheet metal and bing same thing
Such a pretty fish. Super light white dorsal fins
Definitely recommend the wood stove looks you guys will be freezing in that tin can 🤣
Can you show how you tie your braided line? Ever use a swivel?
It looks like the sleeve is a Canuckian idea. A good idea.
I used to work at a walk-in -cooler manufacturing company.
The Assembly of this is much looks closely similar..
Nice walleye.
Hmm? Is that suppose to be a budget shelter? A four-man canvas tent, with a practical woodburner, would be far less.
Congratulations on becoming a dad Jay Siemens bet your looking forward to it
This is the craziest thing i have ever heard
Looks good, but price is over $8500 with tax. The website don't say if the catch covers/ sleeves are additional cost but I'm assuming they are.
Cool project thanks for sharing...
I wish we still got ice like we used to here in Central maine.
Looks like that ice shack will be able to float in the water that’s a nice shack
can jou us the sealant in minus temperatuur?
What kind of ice auger are you using? Is that a Milwaukee drill?
Would that have enough torque to go through 3ft. Of ice?
Hey, yes it would. I just posted a video about that setup.
Next upgrade to the shack might be some acoustic panels to just level up that quality content we all love.
Totally! Lotta echo! Definitely need a few tweaks yet.

You learned a lot about trim eh? Your wife can't be happy about that LOL 😂
At 5:51, that "oh yeah" was very Canadian.

Dosnt a new one cost like 16k for med-high quality?
I dont fish when it 70 degrees out let alone when it is 20 below out. Each to there own. Have a blast guys
Very nice ice shack, you wear your “touks” inside too, in Canada, Aye?
Nice sweater jay!!
Thanks!
🇨🇦 ✌️👍🏻 TURN UP THE HEAT 🔥🔥🔥
Walleye ❤️❤️💪🏻💪🏻
cool shack! I bet you could put a motor on it in summer and use it as a raft if you blocked off part of the door.
Awesome! But that extension needs to be replaced 😄 but I guess if your tools aren't rusted you're not using them
that old town sweater is so dope
Those would be great to use to deal with the homeless problem
Sleeves for your fishin holes out of plastic to keep the wind out.
I'd be careful having a propane heater in that thing without having some ventilation anytime it's on. CO will buildup in there.
nice stuff...I own a spray foam business...the benefits of this product is unreal
Looks awesome!!
Follow your friend Clayton's advice and install a carbon monoxide detector too.
4:27 ...WATCHU DOIN WITH THAT UH UH?!
Is that legal in Canada?
hey jay whats the weight ? i was told freezer panel shacks are heavy as f@$k.
Have you never watched videos of shacks getting blown and tossed across a lake in high wind? awful.
Put a wood burning stove in there. Way better than a damn buddy heater
Jay what rod case do you use?
Now that’s a luxury Canadian porta potty!! 😂
Hahaha
That’s a nice fish! Pretty pale compared to the ones we get around here in central MN.
nice video Jay
