    Instead of crimping the spaghetti tubes before removing a trough, we just predrilled a second hole in the end of each trough. Before removing a trough, we stick the spaghetti tube into the extra hole of the adjacent trough. It’s simpler and the tubes don’t get clogged as easily.

      That a good idea... thank you

    So I bought hydroponic strawberries for the first time today, and they were amazing!! I’ve never had such big, red, ripe, juicy sweet strawberries! You may not know the answer to this, but I thought I would ask anyway. I got these strawberries from Walmart and they are the brand Ocean Spray. I know that it is a huge company, but I was hoping that hydroponics meant that they didn’t have to spray with chemicals on those berries. Do you have any idea if the strawberries would have been sprayed with chemicals? I’m sure that you don’t spray yours with chemicals, but I wondered if some thing that is mass produced like that would have chemicals on them.

      I'm not sure. We don't spray and just have to watch our plants very carefully. But you are right the strawberries are amazing

    Hello. My question is on your trays. First can you get them in any length? Plus do they come with the holes in them for the plants? Joe from Springfield Mo.

      I think you can get them in any length. They come in two pieces with the tops having the holes.

    Is it possible for you to grow your tomatoes, peppers and strawberries organically through your hydroponics? I am trying to understand the health and nutrient benefits of organic growing vs nutrient growing and the negative effects of the nutrients. Thanks

    • @HomegrownPassion
      @HomegrownPassion  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      so, all of the nutrients are natural mined products. Not technically certified organic. Organic growing can sometimes be misleading because they still use chemicals in pest control and herbicide. The companies that produce these chemicals just paid to get them certified organic. We combat that with insect exclusion and careful greenhouse practices, so we don't have to spray. we think hydroponic is superior in every way.

    I grew some bell peppers in the greenhouse, our temperatures are too cold for outside. In the end we had a battle between the rats and the peppers. I tried cage traps, left them set and caught two eastern brown snakes, that came in after the rats, (4 mg of snake poison and it’s good night Irene). We also have a lizard that loves strawberries.

      WOW that's awesome. We are going to try and keep them for at least a year or so

  • @lawrencehaw8780

    For the peppers I keep mine in Namibia, from year to year, growing outdoors only covering in case of frost. They slow during the winter! The Kumquats, Limes and Lemons continue during the winter! Southern Hemisphere!

    I find if you leave the flowers, you’ll get smaller berries but more berries sooner. If you clip blooms you end up with larger berries but fewer berries and they take more time.

    • @HomegrownPassion
      @HomegrownPassion  ปีที่แล้ว

      We are really looking for late season berries. Right now, in our area we are the only ones producing strawberries. The June berries are done and that was the plan. To be able to supply the market when everyone else is done and carry that over to the winter.

    I just had Raccoons raid my strawberries this week too, but they tore out the plants and all.

    • @HomegrownPassion
      @HomegrownPassion  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hate raccoons. Friend lost 25 chickens to them last week. They just killed them for the fun of it. Not one eaten.
