I think the time signature is "go eff yourself.". The chorus definitely drops into an 8/8 that falls into a 3,3,2 pattern, but the rest is all over the place. They've probably woven some numerology into the time signatures, these guys are insanely detailed.
3:40 You're like a person who's dancing and it feels like I'm the dancer that is actually dancing even though I am just watching... I am grateful to see your equally hilarious confusion on the 80s guitar moment. It's epic. A musical genius.
I've seen a few of your reactions and I must say, you have a great ear man. You can detect changes and subtle instruments and fills that no one else can. Awesome. Definitely subscribing.
IMO this band is not only good, but one of a kind! I've been a musician for over 40 years and I never try to put a band or performer into any musical genre or compare it to any other band...... I find it difficult at times, but mostly I succeed :-) many thanx for your reaction and warm greetings from germany
Good call on the Breaking Benjamin / Tool / Deftones comparison. You hit the nail on the head! Those are exactly who I feel as well, with maybe some Coldplay in the songs where Vessel sings in his head voice / falsetto. Do the catalogue! This band slaps on EVERY song. Higher, Give, Bloodsport, Granite. All bangers.
I definitely am with you on the Deftones vibe! The first song I've heard of Sleep Token, Hypnosis, reminded me so much of Digital Bath for some reason! Maybe you want to check it out, I think it's one of their earlier songs. Also agree with Vessel matching Hozier's vocals when you mentioned this in your Chokehold reaction video. Although at first his voice reminded me of Bastille's! And yes on Breaking Benjamin, Tool, and even Snarky Puppy (jazz infusion) on this band's ability to transition smoothly into whiplash-worthy sections! 😅 Loved how you took note of things other have not touched yet. The stacking on the vocals and those harmonies in the background definitely added to the song.
Def have to recommend Vore from them too. These guys are one of a kind and incredibly underrated in creatively and music writing. True musicians for sure.
Been a fan of yours since the "Reckless Love" reaction days, but had wondered what happened since I hadn't seen you much for a while (stupid algorithm). Also became a huge Sleep Token fan in the last year or two, and to see my worlds colliding like this is awesome. Can't wait to catch up on the rest of your videos!
@Mr. Torres Reacts agree with Caleb. Aqua Regia or The Love You Want for entirely different genres of Sleep Token than you've seen so far. It will be fun
This album has 5 of its songs already released and they have 2 albums already out they simply don’t miss I strongly recommend reacting to (Bloodsport - From The Room Below)
The song is entirely in common time but has heavy syncopation! Musically, I'm hearing Tool and Meshuggah inspirations; the only song of theirs I can think of which actually makes use of time signature changes is the breakdown in Hypnosis which has one bar of 6/4 before returning to common time.
Bloodsport (from the room below) or another live version, I highly recommend. Fall for me and Chokehold are excellent too. Will Ramos does a great cover of Chokehold and Hypnosis that are both great
Yes sleep token, are very non-genre specific and genre fluid.I think that’s what makes them so interesting. You don’t really know what you’re going to get with sleep token.
You should check out aqua regia. That song definitely has jazzy factors to it, one of my favorites. And you should look into their earlier discovery too…. I don’t think it’s possible for them to make a bad song. They have a fan for life!!!
You know I never made the connection before, but this is probably what the Deftones of 2023 would sound like. Deftones took the popular genres of the late 90's/early 00's and threw them all in a blender. Thats what Sleep token is doing right now
This band 100% does not conform to genre, like you said. They could do a straight banjo track, and I'd be there, straw in mouth, nodding my head. definitely check out their piano-driven tracks (Atlantic, Levitate, Distraction, Missing Limbs)
Also, fun fact, you and Vessel have something in common, your first name. His name is Leo Faulkner, formerly of the band Blacklit Canopy. You should check out their music too.
from what i remember II said in a drumeo interview that he plays "a set of 3 notes over a feel of 4" II does what he wants lol
I think the time signature is "go eff yourself.". The chorus definitely drops into an 8/8 that falls into a 3,3,2 pattern, but the rest is all over the place. They've probably woven some numerology into the time signatures, these guys are insanely detailed.
It also doesn't help that the drummer refuses to play on beat 1
It's a 4/4 time signature @ 173 bpm. They just move to half time in the slower parts down to 87 bpm but it's still 4 beats per bar the entire song
This is the smartest comment I’ve seen In awhile
The way they ebb and flow and their time signatures and drops and just the overall sound reminds me of deftones/ Tool.
@@KOA_GOBstopper I was gonna say lmao this is literally 4/4
“Life is dark. Life is bright. Life is ugly. Life is beautiful. Don’t get lost in genres, they’ll only disorientate you. Music is for everyone.”
🤌🏻🤌🏻🤌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
I could hear this song a million times and I’ll never get over how fucking good it is.

Finally someone mentions Breaking Benjamin. From the first time i heard The Summoning i had a big Breaking Benjamin vibe
On point with the deftones influence.
Got em'!
If you're watching, don't spoil yourself but the look at 8:01 is why we're all here ;)
The Dumb and Dumber look? lol
I've seen a few of your reactions and I must say, you have a great ear man. You can detect changes and subtle instruments and fills that no one else can. Awesome. Definitely subscribing.
I appreciate that!
New subscriber. Your energy is fantastic! Here for the Sleep Token reactions.

You know your music!!! I'll add all of it to my list! Thank yoU!

Nice! You totally get it! Thanks for watching!

Have you seen my reaction to Vore? I posted it a few days ago
I absolutely love this reaction. It was exactly what I expected when I seen the song choice 😂😂😂🫶🏻
Nice pull about You’ve Seen The Butcher. Same djenty, open-atmosphere riffs with the soaring vocals
Time signature is 4/4. The bass drum helps locate the beat. What causes trouble for alot of people is dotted quarter notes.
yeah, this song is on repeat in our house and I finally understand the rhythm. They're awesome!
Absolutely “You’ve seen the Butcher” love the influences
your vids are perfect man, i love your energy and how you go into a little analysis when you feel like it. Keep it up
I appreciate the positive comment! New videos coming this week!

Thanks so much Jon! I see by your profile pic that you are a musician? And by your username… lol
I think its time for Aqua Regia to show you the other side of Sleep Token :)
ENLIGHTEN ME
@Mr. Torres Reacts agree with Caleb. Aqua Regia or The Love You Want for entirely different genres of Sleep Token than you've seen so far. It will be fun
@MrTorresReacts remember now they're breaking genre boundaries here. And yes! Add The Love You Want to that list
This album has 5 of its songs already released and they have 2 albums already out they simply don’t miss I strongly recommend reacting to (Bloodsport - From The Room Below)
It's on my list! I can't wait to get to it all!
Please react to ALL of them 😂 you won’t be disappointed
dude just keep going with those sleep token reactions. I'm loving this.
The song is entirely in common time but has heavy syncopation! Musically, I'm hearing Tool and Meshuggah inspirations; the only song of theirs I can think of which actually makes use of time signature changes is the breakdown in Hypnosis which has one bar of 6/4 before returning to common time.
lovin the react content!
Hey! Thanks!
I dig your reactions. You should continue more sleep token and I think The 1975 would be a good band to react to.
best songgg
Great reaction. We were all confused lol ...but in the best way possible 🙂
Yes we are
I was really stumped by that intro time signature as well 😂
Isn't it funny that after listening to it several times you finally melt into the rhythm and see that it's just a genius way of playing 4/4? GENIUS!!!
Bloodsport (from the room below) or another live version, I highly recommend. Fall for me and Chokehold are excellent too. Will Ramos does a great cover of Chokehold and Hypnosis that are both great
All added to the list, I have Hypnosis on my radar for this week.
Thanks for your vids, nice reactions and video edition! We need more of this, carnal!
Gracias! I will be putting some more songs out soon!
You gotta do take me back to eden !
just posted that one today! th-cam.com/video/EqjwxUUIQDI/w-d-xo.htmlsi=eWDTYck0MiBlhQ0q

Thanks very much!
Lmao first time seeing this channel but this video editing is excellent

Sleep tokens genre is music in general.
