Thank you for this post. I have the YIHUA 939D+ III EVO and it is really powerful, very pleased with it, can easily create a big pool of solder on just copper clad board. I have seen other reports of the problem you have with this the 982 on You Tube. I was considering buying this unit but not now. Saved my money, thank you.

I was interested in the 245 handle. Thank you for saving my time and money!

The 982 has no issues with the c245(616A)-handle.

I checked my C245 on my 982. Inside the station is a R005 resistor to messure the current that goes throw the heater by the MCU (btw. the build quality of the 982 is good and it's based on an ARM-MCU). I have messure the voltage drop on this resistor with a Fluke F8050A. The peak/average value was about 20.x mV (= 4A) with the C245 and about 7.2mV (= 1.44A) with the C210. The PSU seems to be a 120W device (Aifen A9 using the same transformer). This means the 982 should drive C245 pretty well. I paid 43€ (incl. VAT and quite fast shipping): Highly recommended.

Hello I have a generic c245 handle and want to use it with my yihua 982. Seems that internal wiring is different from yihua handle and it did not work. Do you know the wiring of yihua c245 handle?

@@hmjeon8609 Hi. The Yihua c245 handle (616A?): 5-pin, 4 in each corner and 1 in center; The pins of the handle facing you, the key is at 12 o'clock; clockwise: pin 1 is the tip/housing (should be grounded), pin 2 is a sense pin-10kOhm to pin 4 (Seems that the C210 has a 0 Ohm sense-resistor). Pin 3 is the pointy-needle-contact of the c245 cartridge. Pin 4 is the middle contact of the c245-cartridge. The center pin of the 5-pin-plug is no connected.

It looks like 616A lacks power even with biggest tip. In video shown more powerful handle 9071 but it would not fit 982 (has different plugs). Would be good to know is there other handle, possibly with remodeling to work with 982, otherwise has little use unless for tiny parts/ surfaces.

do you never pre tin & use flux ??

Have you found the cause of the problem? Is it from the handle or from the station itself?
Because I am waiting for the same station to reach me and I want to buy this handle

The C2455 will only work in tyhe black units, not the green ones.

(Too sad.. I was on the way to order a second station of this type.)
Update: My two Yihua 982 has very good performance with the C210 and C245. I got two 982, even the rated 40W 982 hat 120W PSU inside. Newer units seems to be rated 120W.

I got mine, and it works excellent with both c210 and 245. I'm soldering car stereo amplifiers, and 245 works excellent on the bigger stuff, like pcb through solder on wires, and 210 on resistors and so on. I have nothing like the experience as this guy do.
But I always pre clean the tips with flux, and then pre tin. Works like a charm 😊

Hi, can You just measure wattage taken with 245 handle?

I already did that… by myself, 100w with SI.

Nothing else fit's only the Yihua handle due to the socket' by the way the guy should have the temp upto 400c on a board like that' i have the black version 210 & 245 work fine ......................

@@leso204 Hi, so You have black one, I do have black version too. Did You measure wattage with 245 handle? I did measure wattage with 210 handle and station pulled exactly 40W, but I do not have 245 handle to test with it. BTW I red that 245 handle is capable to use 210 and 245, is that right? cheers

I should receive my C245 handle in the next days. I'll check this on my 982. If this doesn't work like a C245, I'll modify the handle to work with my KSGER T12(STM32/alternativ firmware) station. Experience will be shared.
Update: I received my Yihua C245 handle, but it still failed out of the box: It can't even make contact to the cartridge. The Yihua 982 reports an '5-E' error. I'll will report about my refund attempt later.
Update2: Just fixed the C245 handle. The seller offers refund (even without free return) or resend, and send useful hints to fix the issue. So I got a partial refund after fixing the issue myself. It seem that the PSU of the device is 120W. I'll make some messuments with my DSO-150 over an integgrated shunt-resistor on the mainboard of the 982 next days to get the truth.
I'll create a new topic for the results..

The struggle with flow might have been due to you holding it too long and without flux. from what I saw flux is the magic that instantly melts solder wire. This is also why people prefer to use Rosin Core wire so that as it melts it releases flux inside the wire and helps melt much easer. But when it comes to using any sort of flux the best way I seen it be used is with high heat but in small burts. heat the pad with iron and simply press the solder wire into the iron so it melts into it. Maybe the way you were holding it there for a long time was the reason it did not work so well.
-FYI I'm no pro I only recently started learning from people who are pro's.
