This is the first time I’ve revisited this intro in years, and every sound effect right down to the opening musical notes struck such a chord. This was one of my first favorite games as a little kid, it used to make me feel so badass... Damn, I love Armored Core...
2021 and I still remember how satifying the SFX were in this game. The chirp of the gun lock, the multiple chimes of missiles locking on, the whine of the overboost spooling up... and that ungodly shriek of that overpowered laser rifle. SUCH a good game.
11 years later from your comment and the CGI still isn't as dated as many games that came after. AC intros were on a different level. And now, Dec 8th, 2022, AC VI was announced. Rejoice. Long Live Emeraude.

I can't believe From Software haven't released a copy of this intro from an uncompressed source. I'm sure they must still have it. All of the sounds these mechs make are incredibly unique and iconic. The sword melee, the lockon sound, the overdrive, the Karasawa. And that killer late 90s techno track. *chefs kiss*

Real Armored Core fans will recognize the biggest things in this intro which is new weapons being introduced. The anti-missle extensions, overboost, and left arm shield. All of which didn't exist in the first Armored Core. Plus showing off the almighty karasawa. Maybe the multi-missle per lock too? That could just be for show though. Love the music and intro when the ACs pop out of the pods too. A real drop.
Real Armored Core fans know there isn't a generator in the game powerful enough to engage the overdrive WHILE firing the Karasawa multiple times lol. Would have shut down a third of the way through that fancy maneuver.

Peoples from the armored core community really need to stop using the "let's just blame another certain game series that from software also made". I like armored core as much as the peoples in these comments, i also want from software to release another armored core or at least a remake of the first game, blaming other games made by the same developers doesn't always help your case. Peoples need to realize that sometimes developers want to make new games, from software has been doing this even before the souls series. One of the designer at from software already confirm that armored core will have another game in the future so it's best to just have hope rather than finding something else to blame.
I remember the time I spent recreating that blue Karasawa-wielding AC... turns out the parts would put you WAY over weight capacity and you had to beat the game and use the infinite weight cheat. And of course, all the Human Plus cheats... those were the times, man. Games today don't have the mystery or enthralling charm these games did.
The sound of the locks on that drop pod busting open are just godly. I come to this at least once a month. AC 2 is one if my favorite games ever. Can't believe it's been a part if my life for over 20 years... people say the CGI is outdated but imho, this still holds up extremely well to this day. Just saw the new trailer for ACVI! So I had to jump down memory lane. One of my first true video game joys I had by myself as a 4th grader. In hindsight, this game was the first game to really teach me about movement and spatial awareness as it comes to video games.
IKR? Who doesn't love the sequence of a pilot booting up his mech and all the rapid sequence system checks? I wish they had included that in the loading sequence. That would have made you feel even more badass when you launched.
Despite being out of date, I believe AC still has some of the best intro scenes I've ever seen in games today. A lot of games don't even have them anymore. But for AC, the music, the dramatic animations, and fight choreography definitely had a lot of thought and heart put into it. Not something you can find anymore...
Remade this AC in AC6. Use the: VE-66LRA as the main right hand ( Closest looking to the classic Karasawa II) Hi-32 BU-TT/A as left, BML-G2/PO3MLT-06 as back right And the 44-142 KRSV as back left to best imitate the load out here. Using this is just PURE nostalgia on every mission and it's pretty practical with some practice. If you want body parts here ya go: Head - 20-081 Mind Alpha ( with a red V shape custom decal to replicate the eye visor) Chest- CC-2000 orbiter Arms- VP-46S Legs- IB-COL3L:HAL 826 booster: BST-G2/PO6SPD (fastest booster in the game imo) FCS- IB-CO3F:WLT 001 Generator- VP-20C Really you can slap on whatever Generator Booster ya want catered to your play style but there ya go. Enjoy the nostalgia Ravens 👌
I have three variants of this AC, using both the VE-66LRA and the 44-142 KRSV, except they only use one of the rifles as the right hand weapon. No weapon bays. Left hand BU-TT/A, right hand one of the two rifles, right shoulder BML-G2/PO3MLT-06, and the left shoulder can be swapped between heavy laser cannon and earshot. Even the OG Leos Klein AC has different shoulder weapons depending on the scene, so technically it's accurate to have variations. I also use different arms for some as the Melander C3 is pretty close and can fit the logos well, as well as an additional Zio Matrix logo on the right shoulder pauldron. Made for a good run where I could swap between three slightly different variants of this AC for the situation but overall a fully charged KRSV is just a delete ray, and the earshot is just insult to injury. Fantastic build.

@jordantewari because it's more accurate to the design. All back weapons face forward in Ac6 but not in the older entries like 2. Leos klein's AC has the karasawa as the main weapon and in AC6 it's not really meant to be a main weapon but as a secondary/ nuke. This setup is versatile enough for missions and aesthethically accurate.
I was sorta trying to make my AC in AC6 look like a gouf from gundam but realized it looks a lot like the cover art dude in this. The Arquebus body peices painted dark blue lol
it's 2023 and that lock-on sound is still the most satisfying thing I've ever heard (to quote Anthonygenejones). My fondest memory of armored core 2 was playing in the next room where I'm sitting right now (Almost two decades later and I'm still living in the same house lol). I remember trying so hard to increase missile lock-on speed cause I really wanted to emulate 1:20 onwards and not having any luck for 90% of the game. It was only until I played to about the last few chapters after climbing the 1v1 arena thing that I was finally able to buy those dual-missile launchers that completely replaced your mech's arms. It doesn't really have that much usage vs the computer but it was my favorite build to use against my cousin. He'd use my brother's saved mech on the memory card... something that used the tank body/leg thing which gave it massive hp (around 8~9k iirc) but it was so slow. My poor cousin would nevver win against my mech setup cause it was very lightweight, had really fast boosters, locked on missiles very quickly, and I remember having the extension that also fires additional missiles whenever you do so with your main missiles. It was always hilarious. I'd lose 100% of my ammo very quickly but for PVP it was very strong.
I loved this game so much back in the day, me and my friends would play together, every time watching the intro n getting hyped af. Its awesome how many of the sound effects are actually in the gameplay, overboost sound is a BEAST. The gameplay, the customisation, the corperations, the story WHAT A GREAT GAME, Many fond memories! They dont make em like this no more.

I cannot express how fucking cool this intro is, 1:36 in particular sticks out the most to me, watching that guy get drilled with the machine gun, watching his hand as he dies, then the sudden charge in with the laser blade to the shield, all to that intense but hypnotic soundtrack and it all syncs perfectly. It is heard to get. You must disable the weapons on two huge land cruesers before they reach a sertian target. You have to go nearly off the map and grab the part then rush back and clear the mission. It's a rush sence you can't just grab it and comeplete the mission at your leasure.
Probably still a ways away, but we're certainly getting there. We've seen multiple life-sized Gundam statues in Japan, including one that moves, plus there have been at least two major, fully operatable mech prototypes made, the Kuratas and the Eagle Prime.
Sadly, never. Bipedal mechs are just not practical, radical as they are. Maybe the tank options could be a thing, but then again, we already have actual tanks.
2022 , wow those overboost sound bring back memories, remember getting the karasawa for the first time, AC and Legend of dragoon were my first ps1 , and became a fan of the Ac franchise.
This was my first armored core game i ever played until i learned that one of my demo discs contained the first one and the first five missions plus the battle arena mode.
@@GT_BeenGaming Yep. Your starting ac and parts are so basic you are severeley outclassnd but once you start clearing missions and buying or finding and recieving parts you are a walking peace of destruction. The arena is a great way to rack up cash.
That bit where the energy gun takes out the arm but the dude is still flying trying to drift out of shot, only to get perfectly head domed is the essence of mech cool. That's the sort of stuff your childhood fantasy were made off when you were pretending your toys were fighting each other were doing.
I find it amusing the last remaining Emeraude-employed AC looks like it's pulling its LB out of its back pocket, like: "I got somethin' for ya: A middle finger! :D"
The clarify those who are curious: That laser rifle the blue AC uses is the Karasawa MKII, the best weapon in the game, the KARASAWA series of rifles appears in every AC Game to date. Though the one in AC4-ACFA was renamed the CANOPUS. Also, its rare that AC's are built by the corporations to be piloted so I dont see why the corporations would need 3 Armored Cores to take down a single base when they could just hire someone like Ares or Leos Kline.
Agreed. Karasawa did dump most of my builds into the ocean, along with that accursed Moon Light. I baited him out of his shots until he had no more ammo, then started taking my shots.
Ares is easy if you want to be a twat and missile boat the hell out of him at the Battle Arena, but Ares and Matthias in AC2 are complete bastards in the arena if you take them head on. Of course, I did manage to beat Matthias with some circle strafing and a machine gun.
@@AeridesEntertainment Yup same used the thousand round clip mg (been a long time since i played so cant remember its name) to finish those guys off also remember using rockets on one shoulder missiles on the other worked well rockets hard to use but used right could overheat an opponent very quickly as well as just straight up knock them around and move in with mg and if i was feeling ballsy give them a dig with the blade think i packed plasma bombs in there to as well as ams build was janky af thinking back lol
@@AeridesEntertainment I got a model called zero that can beat 9ball in the arena. It has all human+ upgrade and high energy shielding plus with missle intercepters it can guard agianst his missles. Sence it has the same beam rifle head to head zero can weather the storm. I find the idia 9ball has two energy weapons a bit of a flaw. I always use live amo with energy weapons to use the boosy more eficiantly.
This was my first AC game. I remember playing it for hours on end when I was a kid. I am so happy they are coning out with a new AC game. I hope the movement mechanics are more in line with some of the previous AC games and not like the ACV series…
I still love the AC2 cover mech’s design (Ethermaster?) it’s just so slick. I wish the series would consider going back to space, maybe even try space combat. I’d also like for the series to just come back in general.
I remember buying the XA2 action figure way back during like 2005. I broke it in the next couple years, and I wanted it so much that I paid like 100 bucks for it again in 2015 or so off ebay! Easily my favorite AC design.
I sunk SO MANY HOURS into this game as a preteen. At least two playthroughs and hundreds of hours of playtime and I feel like I didn't even scratch the surface of the content it had.

I first played around the year 2000-2001 and I'm 33 now. They seriously released a game for every one of my favorite IPs ever this year. Zelda ToTK, Diablo 4, Final Fantasy 16... And on top of them all is by far Armored Core 6!! Life has been a total dumpster fire for me in more ways than I care to admit. And I honestly would have to admit if it wasn't for my ps5, switch OLED and the fact these new releases are my literal favorite games ever, then life would be a VERY VERY different situation for me...
depends if you beat the game and replay the campaign you get a new part which gives you a generator that is like super powerful and you can overboost and fire the karasawa like in the intro.
I haven’t played this game in years, but I think I once tried to make one of the ACs from the opening cinematic and discovered it was overweight or under powered or something like that
There was cheats at the beginning of the game, I forget the proper phrasing, that would allow you to build overweight AC units. You had to fail the 1st mission a bunch of times and have negative cash. At that point you could build the unit from the intro/cover.
that guy with the machine gun, grenade launchers, and missles is like Nine Ball he comes out in Intro of AC1 AC2 and AC3 but never in the sequals of any of the ACs, and by sequels i mean Armored core2 another age, armored core 3 silent line etc.
+YumLemmingKebabs Armored Core 2 had this exceed limit feature where for a limited period of time you had unlimited energy, but afterwards you had to recharge for a long time. I think you had to press all the trigger buttons along with the joysticks at the same time.
A glorious little trick called Limit Release. It's a bit like taking ephedrine. You use it and feel full of energy for the first few hours, and then you're completely useless later that day.

Probably still a ways away, but we're certainly getting there. We've seen multiple life-sized Gundam statues in Japan, including one that moves, plus there have been at least two major, fully operatable mech prototypes made, the Kuratas and the Eagle Prime.
Sadly, never. Bipedal mechs are just not practical, radical as they are. Maybe the tank options could be a thing, but then again, we already have actual tanks.

2022 , wow those overboost sound bring back memories, remember getting the karasawa for the first time, AC and Legend of dragoon were my first ps1 , and became a fan of the Ac franchise.
2023 checking in, still one of the meanest intros ever! That drop scene tuned with the techno, time to go to war!

This was my first armored core game i ever played until i learned that one of my demo discs contained the first one and the first five missions plus the battle arena mode.
@@GT_BeenGaming Yep. Your starting ac and parts are so basic you are severeley outclassnd but once you start clearing missions and buying or finding and recieving parts you are a walking peace of destruction. The arena is a great way to rack up cash.
I remember how the new countermeasures made the vs battles really desperate struggles. definitely my favorite AC game.
That bit where the energy gun takes out the arm but the dude is still flying trying to drift out of shot, only to get perfectly head domed is the essence of mech cool. That's the sort of stuff your childhood fantasy were made off when you were pretending your toys were fighting each other were doing.
I miss this lock-on sound.

I find it amusing the last remaining Emeraude-employed AC looks like it's pulling its LB out of its back pocket, like: "I got somethin' for ya: A middle finger! :D"

That laser rifle the blue AC uses is the Karasawa MKII, the best weapon in the game, the KARASAWA series of rifles appears in every AC Game to date. Though the one in AC4-ACFA was renamed the CANOPUS.
Also, its rare that AC's are built by the corporations to be piloted so I dont see why the corporations would need 3 Armored Cores to take down a single base when they could just hire someone like Ares or Leos Kline.

Agreed. Karasawa did dump most of my builds into the ocean, along with that accursed Moon Light.
I baited him out of his shots until he had no more ammo, then started taking my shots.
Ares is easy if you want to be a twat and missile boat the hell out of him at the Battle Arena, but Ares and Matthias in AC2 are complete bastards in the arena if you take them head on. Of course, I did manage to beat Matthias with some circle strafing and a machine gun.
@@AeridesEntertainment Yup same used the thousand round clip mg (been a long time since i played so cant remember its name) to finish those guys off also remember using rockets on one shoulder missiles on the other worked well rockets hard to use but used right could overheat an opponent very quickly as well as just straight up knock them around and move in with mg and if i was feeling ballsy give them a dig with the blade think i packed plasma bombs in there to as well as ams build was janky af thinking back lol
@@AeridesEntertainment I got a model called zero that can beat 9ball in the arena. It has all human+ upgrade and high energy shielding plus with missle intercepters it can guard agianst his missles. Sence it has the same beam rifle head to head zero can weather the storm. I find the idia 9ball has two energy weapons a bit of a flaw. I always use live amo with energy weapons to use the boosy more eficiantly.
This was my first AC game. I remember playing it for hours on end when I was a kid. I am so happy they are coning out with a new AC game. I hope the movement mechanics are more in line with some of the previous AC games and not like the ACV series…

I still love the AC2 cover mech’s design (Ethermaster?) it’s just so slick.
I wish the series would consider going back to space, maybe even try space combat. I’d also like for the series to just come back in general.
I remember buying the XA2 action figure way back during like 2005. I broke it in the next couple years, and I wanted it so much that I paid like 100 bucks for it again in 2015 or so off ebay!
Easily my favorite AC design.
I sunk SO MANY HOURS into this game as a preteen. At least two playthroughs and hundreds of hours of playtime and I feel like I didn't even scratch the surface of the content it had.

I first played around the year 2000-2001 and I'm 33 now. They seriously released a game for every one of my favorite IPs ever this year. Zelda ToTK, Diablo 4, Final Fantasy 16... And on top of them all is by far Armored Core 6!! Life has been a total dumpster fire for me in more ways than I care to admit. And I honestly would have to admit if it wasn't for my ps5, switch OLED and the fact these new releases are my literal favorite games ever, then life would be a VERY VERY different situation for me...

Coulda turned on the limiter release for it!
In actual gameplay, using the Overide boost and firing that weapon would drain the energy gauge in no time flat. Makes for a good intro though.
depends if you beat the game and replay the campaign you get a new part which gives you a generator that is like super powerful and you can overboost and fire the karasawa like in the intro.

I haven’t played this game in years, but I think I once tried to make one of the ACs from the opening cinematic and discovered it was overweight or under powered or something like that
There was cheats at the beginning of the game, I forget the proper phrasing, that would allow you to build overweight AC units. You had to fail the 1st mission a bunch of times and have negative cash.
At that point you could build the unit from the intro/cover.

that guy with the machine gun, grenade launchers, and missles is like Nine Ball he comes out in Intro of AC1 AC2 and AC3 but never in the sequals of any of the ACs, and by sequels i mean Armored core2 another age, armored core 3 silent line etc.

+YumLemmingKebabs Armored Core 2 had this exceed limit feature where for a limited period of time you had unlimited energy, but afterwards you had to recharge for a long time. I think you had to press all the trigger buttons along with the joysticks at the same time.

A glorious little trick called Limit Release.
It's a bit like taking ephedrine. You use it and feel full of energy for the first few hours, and then you're completely useless later that day.
