Nice system really simple yet effective and love the moving solar array that's what brought me here nice job

What a great place you have. You both obviously enjoy the whole energy making process. Great fun video. I have a similar croft situation in Scotland. We have 3.7kw grid tied ground mounted panels. Also, 2.75kw off grid. Also, we've been running the istabreeze i1500 3 blade for over a year. Summertime wind production not worth mentioning but from Oct through March, wind was king!. 9x100ah leadacid constantly topped up when solar was doing very little. I may get a second i1500. I've adapted my existing i1500 to make it "windsafe". Now actually makes power during storms when previously I'd have had to shut it down. I think you're right in choosing lead acid, especially where the turbine controller doesn't follow bulk absorb float cycles . (You can get these but they cost loads ) The interplay between solar and wind takes a bit of getting used to. Tip...make sure your wind start dump voltage is higher than your solar bulk cycle.

Thank you, sounds like you have a very respectable power system there yourself. Experiencing similar here in regard to wind production during summer.

Folks , very informative so Tnx. Have you a video or other information on the hybrid charge controller for the wind turbine/solar.

Seperate vid on the hybrid controller/ inverter will be coming out this month.

Thanks a million for all of that great info Mike! Are the lead-acid's regular starter type batteries?

Much appreciated baz. The lead acid batteries we use are regular car batteries, the bigger the better. Try to avoid AGM lead acids as their lifespan can be quite short.

I got 10 solar panels on a 3kw system, grid tied and even though electric Ireland promised a rebate I haven’t seen a penny off them in 3 years

Hi Jimmy, that's awful. You'll have to get those panels disconnected from the grid and connect them to a battery bank instead so that you can use the energy that you're making.

Even if a lithium cell couldn't make the full 500 to 4000 cycles it's rated at, it's still nothing in comparison to the 250 cycles (at 100% DoD) that lead acid batteries are rated at.
Your fear story about children in lithium mines is just untrue. Most lithium produced today comes from brine, but assuming that it was being mined in a solid form, the concentration of lithium in ore is so low and so dispersed (~1-2% concentration) that the only practical use a child would have would be driving a truck and hauling tons of minerals for processing.
