They are one of my favs. Their hybrid AP melee/ranged shades, the anti inf. medusa, dragons, cool lords, and morathi's slaneesh corruption make them feel pretty great to me. The only thing I mod is the model skins, give them the same magics as regular elves (they are the same race, they should have the same magic), and lazy's mods ofc.
I don't play DE either though after years gave Malus a go and ended up doing 80% of the battles with the starting Medusa getting 800 - 1200 kills a battle with it. its rapid charge gets it out of blobs then turn and fire back a spread shot explosive vomit.
Medusa were gigabuffed some patches ago. There was also a bug which made them shoot double onto same target afaik. Then the bug was fixed, their anti-large removed. So now they are merely anti-infantry.
6:47 dude that front eagle is a god damn hero. Took so many shots to the face and kept going. This battle was an AI loss pure and simple. Had they followed the eagles in everyone would have been swamped, and the temple guard getting to you at full strength was basically part of their win condition they failed to capitalize on. Its a good and fun army but could lose pretty easily against any coordination at all. Like what if they did something crazy like...use their Stegadons to shoot at you with impunity and force you to approach them? High level tactical thinking I know, requires at least 30 seconds of prior experience.
Just used medusae for the first time in my first DE campaign as Rakarth and I fell in love. Not only for the pewpew lasers as a Skaven at heart, but for the super high damage. They're like a single-entity version of sepulchral stalkers.
That new PC really changed everything. Nothing like that quality and smoothness. Can't wait to update my PC. I actually stopped playing after a few hundred hours because I just couldnt stand how low I had to have it to run even close to 60 fps.
Checkerboarding the medusas in a two or three line setup is the correct formation, so the back ones get all their ammo off before joining the melee. No reason to not use their most powerful weapon as much as you can. Really having heroes or hydras go forward and hold them back so you can shoot is even better. Edit: This was such a good map too. Get in that center choke in a 3 deep formation and you have a massive killzone in front where their numbers matter much less, and the third wave can keep shooting the fliers as they land on the second row.
Dark Elf main here. What could've made this even stronger was if the names of power he chose for the lords applied buffs to these units. Barbstorm is a really good one since it increases range, missile strength, and ammunition for the entire army. There is one that applies buffs to Medusas specifically,(Beastbinder I believe) but it isn't as good since it's just increased charge bonus which I don't believe is all that important for this particular unit.
Hello, i sent in this stack. yeah in my armies i use medusas as poison wind mortars/ infantry lawn mower so 3-4 per army is enough. still, with lightning strike this army can take on extreme odds but dark elves have better options for doomstacks
Medusas (Medusa?) are surprisingly good. In my current campaign they were the only force able to almost stop my endgame treeman/treekin doomstack, which has been wrecking 4 full stacks left and right. Their ranged attack is massive and it's magic attack, thus bypassing all the physical resistance of the tree army, and their special ability to remove magic attack from nearby enemies. I guess they are better counters to treeman than sisters of averlorn in the endgame, since treeman will have fire resistance by then.

Hey legend, how much of the GPU does the game use on your settings? I got a 4080 as well and it spins up to jet engine noise levels when I get into the game. My 3060 never had that issue.
Welcome to the world of flagship GPUs :) it is normal, my 4080 super does the same. look at the TDP, the 4080 takes around 320w, but the 3060 only took ~170w. Cooling gets more difficult if you have a lot of heat in a small space, so even if the 4080 have a bigger cooler, they will have to do a lot more to keep cool. Over 250w it is very difficult to cool a card with air and remain silent. I advise headphones. That's much less hassle than getting those flagship cards silent enough. And those current nvidia cooler designs with short graphiccards and long overstanding coolers is great! The jet engine problem was even worse in older generations where they used classic twin fan or even blower designs.
Whenever i get an idea for a doomstack to send in ill start making it and then the campaign hits turn 40 ish and it gets so braindead easy and i get bored lmao
38 whole Medusas, that's my dream come true. In Total War of course, not for other... reasons.

For someone whom isn't a huge Dark Elf fan, this definitely makes me want to stick them back into my "want to play" list for sure.
