David revealed what kept him from going through with it and that is his son and the fans. David is very open about his struggles with depression and his past substance abuse as well. He shares his struggles to help others know that they are not alone in those struggles. 1 thing I love about David is that he cares about his fans so much that he wasn't willing to give in to the demons in his head.
I love Chester Bennington as well because of his willingness to be open about his struggles with depression and addiction as well. Chester fought hard for a long time against the demons in his head but he was not able to fight them anymore especially after the last 3 horrible years of his life. He broke his right ankle in January of 2015. The band lost a friend to cancer later that year. Chester lost his step dad in 2016. In 2017 Linkin Park was criticized because the album One More Light was to pop sounding and then the day before their album was released Chris Cornell passed away and it was all too much for Chester to over come in the end.

I saw Disturbed not long ago and when David spoke and sang this I sobbed and people around me were sobbing too. My Mom committed suicide 13 years ago and it’s affected me badly.

I went through a rough patch in my life where I was contemplating suicide and was self harming but I got help and now I've got a job and also have a channel on TH-cam where it's dedicated to mental health outreach and informing people about mental health. Not to sound cliche but with God anything is possible.
