Those old buses may have been polluters of the atmosphere, but they were well loved and much used by the travelling public. Just hearing them brings back so many memories. Thanks Alan.
They remind me of a time when life was very different, as a child one didn’t have the worries of later years. It is the sound of their engines that get me going, love em.
Morning Alan, that really was a lovely treat, seeing those glorious old buses still running around and looking and sounding so good, Really a tonic on a dreary March day. Thoroughly enjoyed watching, Thanks for sharing...🍷🍷
Afternoon Steve, very blustery where I am. It was a great day out, if it’s on this year and I’m available, I would try and get a few rides in, it was so busy with constant queues, not something I’m keen on. Glad you enjoyed watching, all the best 🥂
Thanks Alan, it's great to see all the old buses again with some of them looking like the ones that I used to go to school on. Take care and all the best. Stevie
Oh Lordy Alan watching those buses took me back, the PD! Atlantean and the RE was lovely to remember but they never had power steering, my 8 years as a driver was one of the happiest times of my life. I was the Second Lady driver in Essex at that time. Lovely memories. Have great week 😊
Hi Sandy, that’s very interesting, I didn’t realise you were one of the early lady drivers and second in Essex. I’m glad you enjoyed watching and it brought back lovely memories. Enjoy your weekend 🤠
Very interesting Alan but what a wonderful job the did organising all of the buses. My father used to drive buses for Lincolnshire Road Car and latterly for Maidstone and District.
Thanks Martin, these sort of events always seem to be well organised. There’s a transport museum in Lincoln, which has a number of buses and they have occasional running days, I visited the museum years ago but haven’t travelled on any. Interesting to know about your father.
In the seventies I have been to London twice, mostly traveling by subway, but once on a double decker, top floor of course! The Go As You Please ticket was a great solution.
I’ve always liked Rover type of tickets, especially those that include train travel. So much easier to pay on buses now, just zap your debit or other card and that’s it. Fares are standardised in London, not that I know much about it. Cheers
Another wonderful day out! Those busses are quite a curiosity for this American. Double-deckers may be found at the two US Disney parks, but despite many visits, never have I yet ridden in one. Really do enjoy these vlogs😄
That's so good of you to say Robin, thank you very much. From the top of a double decker you get a good view all round. Favourite spot for many is at the top front, to see ahead. All the best.
Great vlog Alan, brought back loads of memories. The Midland Red 159 service was Birmingham to Coventry return and ran every half hour through the village I was born in. Shame there were no Devon Generals or Royal Blue - bit far to travel I expect!!
Thank you so much Bill, glad you enjoyed it. I’m not aware of the East Midlands bus routes but we all remember the buses we used in our youth. I was a member of the Devon General Society for a while, more armchair than anything but I do remember doing some work on a bus.
i was on the 794 stall and remember seeing you with your camera. very great day which was in response to a no from Northampton council. Daventry were very helpful and hopefully we will go again. The market was good too. caroline
Hi Caroline. Many thanks for your comment. It was a great event, I didn’t know that Northampton had turned it down. Worked well though at Daventry, hope to see it there again.
👍 I know you do your research so you may be aware of these ideas for future videos; Rushden Historic Transport Museum (trains and buses), Sywell Aviation museum, Hollowell Steam Rally and the National Trust houses at Lyvden. All probably less than 45 minutes from you.
Hi Jon, thanks for your comment and suggestions. I’ve been to Rushden and Lyvden both years ago. My difficulty is that the heritage videos are not so popular and yet more time and effort goes into these, so I’m in a bit of a quandary. I will though still be doing the heritage videos. Hollowell is very appealing but I might be cruising when that’s on. Cheers
I really like your new format of mixing history, tours, and narrowboats.
Thanks very much Leslie. I’ve always done a mix of videos, but unfortunately heritage ones are less popular.

Glad you enjoyed watching Christine. Best wishes, take care.

Amazing how they keep these old buses going, good video Alan.
Thank you Dougie, very kind of you to say, some magnificent sights and sounds.
Hi Alan. I love the heritage vlogs. My husband even watches many of these with me. Wishing you health as we move toward spring
Thanks Ginger for your appreciation, I’m glad you’re getting your husband interested. All the best, Spring is slow coming. All the best, take care.
Wonderful line up there. Thanks for recording them.
Glad you enjoyed it, thanks for watching and commenting.

glad you got the daventry co ordinator (the blonde girl) on there as she had a great team.
I’ll have to look again to see who you mean 👍
