I have the five blade whittler. Same bone scales, even same color pattern. The main blade on mine locks and the others are slippies. I inherited mine some years back. Appears to be Japanese AUS6. Good quality knife....however, I too noticed a few short cuts on my fit and finish especially where the bone scale meets the bolster. Additionally, I have found a couple of the blades rub slightly which is common with multiple blade slip joint knives. I agree with your evaluation and review of this branded knife. It is very consistent with my knife of this company. Something was off though....American Blade Company made in Japan. It seemed odd. Overall, I gave mine a 7/10 in excellent condition. Thanks for this great review. Jim Parker was a complex man famous in the world of knives. He was in and out of partnerships, even having more than one gig going at a time at certain periods. His time at the helm of Case Knives is still considered controversial.
Nice! I am surprised they made a whittler, I have not seen that one yet. I think we can assume the quality of our knives may represent the overall quality of the whole line of knives, however I bet there are a few that turned out near perfect just by accident! Glad you liked the video. I have to look up this Jim Parker, he seems like an interesting cat, to say the least!
Very interesting . Never knew of those . Nice fat blades . Looks like a nice polish job on the bone . And on the back springs . Reminiscent of Case knives there . Great video as they all are . Cheers !
i have an ab-2, beautiful knife sharp as my razor sweet knife bone scales with a ship scrimshawed into one side. i don't know much about american blade but i know national blade has the same type of bone and they were also a parker product
Neat slip joints with a pretty cool history! In a local hardware store, I've discovered some US made knives from "Bear and Son Cutlery". I looked on their website & they're made in AL. They look pretty nice! Do you have any? I may pick one up. They have a really nice looking "Stockman".
That is a brand I wanted to try out myself, but never happened to get one. If I remember they looked pretty good for the price. I would be interested to hear what you think about it if you end up getting one.
Say Heah Jeremy WoW what a Beauty. But did I ever tell you the time I wanted to have my Ex- G'Friend buy some Steaks for a trip we were going on. I was in a rush, so I asked her to get it. When I asked her she asked for $20.00, Just before that I gave her some money, So I pulled a $20.00 bill out and went by the mirror, I said see the $20.00 blade in the mirror thats yours, what's in my hand is mine and I left. When I got home I saw alot of meat on the table, So I asked how she got it. She went by the mirror and lifted her dress and said, See that in the mirror that's yours, what's under my dress is the butchers, heh heh heh.,,. p

Not too keen on trapper knives, but these two look lovely and in proportion with the blade and handle size 👍
These are the only knives I have from American Blade.
