That's exactly what happenend to me with this plants. Bought it, looked at it, bought the green one too. Fell hard for both.😂 Now they spend the summer outside and love it. Oh i forgot... I got the watermelon one too...
I never saw the point of dischidia until I was gifted one. The new growth is really beautiful. I also never saw the point of Hoyas, but that was over 50 Hoyas ago. I’m worried I’ll soon be overrun by dischidia!
I don't have this variety but I have a Dischidia Ovata and I love it. I even didn't know it exists, last year I ordered a couple of hoyas and the seller sent me a pot of two cuttings(each had only two leaves) of dischidia as gift. it did nothing and was almost dying the first months. then I moved it to a chucky mix(mainly bark,coco chips and lecca, with a very small amount of cocopeat) and put it right behind my southern window and it started to grow like crazy. I propogate it similar to String of Hearts. either butterfly method or just layering a stem on top of soil (I put a layer of moss on top of pot and use hair pins so that the roots touch the surface of moss). propogating it over and over makes it look much bushier.
I have 2 a green and a varigated. In the states the availability is the same, seems sporatic. Not very popular. Mine did not grow over the winter, but the green one is now making up for it. The new growth looks very tender and beautiful. Currently, it is trailing. Thanks for the info on this plant in the UK

Wow, yours is beautiful! The first one I got was in a husk and I may have overwatered, couldn't get the husk off, it died. Then last month I found one with slightly larger (but still variegated leaves) at B&Q, for £15... its beautiful! I decided to treat it more like an orchid, put in orchid bark in a clear plastic orchid pot so I can see more. Watering sparingly, but misting alot. I'm encouraged by yours, so we'll see how this one does.
I love this plant. But I noticed some strange behavior. While the green one is growing all year, this one is growing - growing and then suddenly stops. I started to move it around. Not just turn around but transfer to a different place in the same room. And it will wake up less than in 2 weeks. So I have mine got about the same long as yours in 1 year.
Three of mine died 😢😢😢😢 The last one seemed totally Fine and now I saw that the roots have died now I am trying to save it again 😢😢😢 I watered it very sparingly,because I think I overwatered the first one. What to doooo 😂😂😂😂 I have never managed to propagate a piece they all died a slow death that I couldn’t save them from. Any tips? Does it make sense to put some strands in a little greenhouse?
i live in the north east usa (new jersey). i have 5 dischidias in my south east window all year round and they do well. (oiantha var., nummalaria, ovata, major and imbricata (not the hoya)... my favorite is nummalaria. definate growth spurts in summer. i use a very barky/coco chips soil mix. all in terra cotta and water every 1-2 weeks when the leaves feel or look wrinkly or soft in summer and rare in winter). love them more than hoyas...just my preferance...they are different and unique and not a lot of people have them....
and yes i did have issues with edema but once i backed off of the watering it subsided. no planks or poles either just hanging with the exception of the Major which i attached to hoya trellis loop because it was growing so long and quickly this spring/summer and i justed wanted more control where it was going...

Its unfortunate I didn't see various versions so I knew which to get. Would of liked to of seen images of various ones

out of terrarium. But in the terrarium under artificial light it blooms constantly!

One more thing - all Dischidia love to grow in symbiosis with something else like tiny ferns.
