I hate the fact they always test the top of the range cars only, when majority sold is the low to mid range with basic options. Very few people pay for the air suspension and rear wheel steering. It would be good to get more insight into what standard suspension is like, not just, it will crash over large pot holes. What normal suspension doesn’t crash over pot holes?!
I mean it only shares the platform from vw but the body and interiors are all different and made by Audi, don’t know why people call this vw when it doesn’t resemble any vw. The merc resembles the new Nissan Maxima

Modern Audi's are very expensive wolkswagens....the engineering underneath is not what expect for the price. The average motorist format see this. Sadly I do......Old Audi's and VW's were fantastic cars....well engineered and designed to last. That's not the case anymore but their image is enough to sell the cars. Such a shame really. Audi used to be known for building very very good cars...... Now they are a fashion accessory!!!!!...buy a boring Honda and be safe in the knowledge that the investment goes right down to component level to give the consumer reliability and longevity. I miss the old Audi's and Volkswagen's!!!!.
So the big Germans have run out of design. Audi A4,A6,A8 all look the same just a little bigger, same goes for BMW and Mercedes. And the main thing, they look almost the same as the previous generations. The same as the smartphone world, iphone x and iohobe xs.....samsung s8 and samsung s9....are there no more designers in this world???
Why is she still at Carbuyer? James has so much more personality and charisma. She has to be the most boring and lazy presenter ever. Carbuyer used to be my go-to TH-cam channel, now I barely visit it. Long gone are the good old days with Rebecca and Matt.
I think Audi is tarnishing its image (if it ever had one) by inviting Alexa or Sirius or any other useless novelties that most of us are bored with by now. I never felt comfortable talking to my radio even when no one else was in the house. Audi should direct its attention to a car that's fun to drive and pleasureable for the long-distance because of a smooth, soft, shock-absorbent ride. Only one novelty would awaken the interest of my wife and me--front seats offering a massage feature for backs no longer in shape for 10-hour rides to another coast.
Why do car manufacturers persist with touch screens. Executive status symbols like these are usually the same. It's a reflection of the conservative nature of it's audience. The only exception are french luxury cars like the C6.

It is indeed a "seriously good looking car" ... Minus the rather ugly looking bigg chrome garnish for grille. This should have been a bit subtle. True Class doesn't need make a bold statement like in this case.
This vid is only an advertisement for Audi. No critical car journalism. What about the shiny center console which is the worst to get sun reflections from everywhere to much touch no buttons or the ruined front grill lines by that chunky radar sensors...
You're not the only one on the Mercedes interior. Now of course as you've mentioned, they're built to a high quality standard (mostly), yet they are able to look horrendous. Almost as if Mercedes is trying too hard to target into the younger part of their audiences and starting to ditch its classy characteristic.

All the quality, Tech, practicality and versatility and size of the Q8 ..at about half the price if your careful on trim and spec... a real bargain imo
I still don't get the fascination with having a touchscreen for the climate control, let alone one so low down. Couldn't it have been done through the upper screen, and as such benefit from the haptic feedback? Also, Mercedes may have "bling" interiors, but the higher specs models of the new A1 (and presumably, soon to be throughout the range) have a better and arguably safer layout. People will definitely want to change the climate control on the move, which means looking down at a screen that picks up reflections and will show off no end of fingerprint smears, which can't be safe. At least, if it's more towards eye level, it's going to be easier to see and use.
The lower screen for climate controls also provides haptic feedback, in case you didn't know that. Physical climate controls from other manufacturers are also positioned low, you have to look down wether the controls are digital or not. And please don't come up with the argument that you don't have to look down to operate with real buttons, because it's simply not true for many functions and non practical for the others. Using the touchscreen may be a little bit more distracting at the begining, but as soon as you know where all those climate functions are positioned on the screen, you operate with them as fast as you would do with physical buttons. Having my hand on the gear stick, using that screen means nothing more than stretching my index finger and click. There are no problems with (sun)reflections, the screens are easy to read at any time of the day or weather. Fingerprints are indeed a problem, agree on that one.

BMW 5 series looks a bit dated next to this and the e class.
The E Class interior is honestly superb, especially when specced well. This feels a little too angular, line-full!
E class is to flashy.
in north america, the mid size 6 cylinders sedans are smiliar price with 6 cylinders suv. basically majority will get suv,not sure in other countries.

Interesting: on the Q8 she had a bit of a dig about the touch screens and finger prints but in the A6 with exactly the same set up, not a word.....
