    That's a nice plow I like that you can adjust how you want it

      They still make these plows like they used to. Big grade 8 bolts and thick steel.

    i have the same plow just like that. My tractor is the John Deere X500 and i use it more than any other peace of machinery I have on my little farm. my garden is more like a little field really and its on a hill. so its a hell of a task but the plow is great and I also have issues with roots...and slate love the videos.

      I agree Eli, the plow is really a useful piece of equipment. I use it most in in spring but will be using it soon, I'm planning to put some electrical to my shed and will be using my plow to trench it. I'm thinking of then renting a trencher and get the line down deep 18" or so, by using the plow I can make sure I won't hit my sprinkler lines, where a trencher will tell me I hit a line but it will be too late. :-)

    Nice plow Bud!! Looks like the Kiddies are lovin' the Mini Bike eh!!☺

      My kids love that mini bike. Reminded me I have to fix the chain. The motor slips back and causes too much slack. That new clutch really made the difference, thanks for the tip. This little 2hp bike rips. :-)

    The two hitch adjustments are for whether you have the right rear tire in the furrow, or out. You adjust it one way when you start out, and both wheels are on unplowed ground. Then when you need to put your wheel in the furrow you change the hitch to level the plow while your tractor is slanted to the right. I hope this makes sense.

      +lawrence fure Yes it does and glad you posted that, I'll be using the plow soon to trench electrical to my shed. Then on to turning over the garden once spring arrives.

    Had a 312 that I used a Brinly with. Good power and with 250lbs in the seat good weight. Turf tires easily overcome with my winter chains. Amazing tractors, the Wheelhorses. Sadly Toro ruined Wheelhorse. Great video... Many memories stirred.

      The last Wheel Horse production year was 1989 and that's all I've owned so far, a 416-8 and 520-H. I have to think that Wheel Horse was just a tax write off for Toro and that is why they purchased them... bought them.. made minor enhancements and then folded... I'm sure they took all the depreciation of their purchase.

      After world war 2 many American families had large vegetable plots, which lead to the popularity of the classic garden tractor. That was a product of our rural heritage. With smaller backyards and workaholic careers, many gave it up. Almost all of the brands failed. Now, some raise tomatoes in pots but none of my neighbors have vegetable plots like was common years ago. The John Deere and Kubota sub-compacts are popular, but many don't use them for tilling. Many of the 10 year old models that come up for sale have less than 200 hours on them.

    I have a Brinley plow, its almost useless even after softening the ground with water. However I modified a 100 year old John Deere #190 "horse drawn plow" that does a fantastic job. I've built many of my own implements that aren't manufactured by any company to pull behind garden tractors and they all hook up to a sleeve hitch. I've never heard them called a clevis hitch, but that's probably a geographical term....Ha Ha. Just picked up a 1968 Wheel Horse 36 inch rototiller with barely any wear from the scrap yard the other day($50), in the middle of modifying it for sleeve hitch.

    • @CraigArndt
      @CraigArndt  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +DesertDigger1 Clevis hitch isn't geographical, that I know of. It's just what its called. This plow needed a lot of setup, or fine tuning. But once I found how to set it up on youtube of all places... :-) It rolled over sod 6" deep. I was more impressed with the tractor than the plow because I was ripping up tree roots that I really couldn't believe it was doing. I'll be breaking it out in another couple weeks to run my electrical to my shed, so stay tuned!

    Could you please send or tell me where you got the chain and the other parts to correctly connect the hitch before I lose my mind! I have a wheel horse 520lxi. I have the sleeve hitch but need the rest of the parts, thanks David

    I love the front hitch. I had one on my 520h. I got rid of the tractor after it died. If memory serves, that hitch will hold 300 lbs.

      Me too, I found that hitch on ebay, asked my wife to buy it for my Christmas gift. We pull our trailer with it and move my boat when the need arises. The guy that makes them had a good idea, its well made.

    How much does a plow like that go for?

    • @CraigArndt
      @CraigArndt  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can get them on Craigslist sometimes for $125 but they are the old models that are usually rusted. This was $269 but had to pay for shipping.

      I'm always amazed how my 520H will pick that 75-80 pound plough up like nothing. I bought my clevis hitch from Toro, but wheelhorsepartsandmore.com has them, but not sure if they ship internationally. Ebay probably your best bet if needed.

    also craig get the plate that goes in between the brinly hitch and your clevis hitch ,, the bolts on the clevis hitch push the plate against the brinly hitch and make it tight and stops the hitch wobbling around which can throw you plow share angle off,, makes a world of difference,, you can get it here wheelhorseman1000.com he is a redsquare member who makes all the stuff you need for wheel horse tractors...also our 520's because there is more than 19" bit less than 23" in between the rear wheels .. You need to put pin in brinly hitch in the far left hole if standing behind it,,,that will also help you tons ,, hope these tips help,,,
