- We take our NV200 Camper through France to Spain. In this episode things don’t go according to plan and it’s a stressful ending to a wonderful trip.

Watching this is bringing back memories of disbelief, shock and the fear many of us felt. I just had covid for the 4th time.... so many were lost those first months. 😢😢😢

Started watching as a NV200 review but then got thoroughly absorbed particularly by the poignancy of the final Covid episode.

A tip: watch movies on kaldrostream. Me and my gf have been using it for watching a lot of movies lately.

Thanks James. All my bookings will be through the club from now on. It was very reassuring to have someone in the UK fighting our corner during the problem. In my experience Eurotunnel seemed to do everything they could to make us give up and pay a huge increase to get home. Cutting us off after we told them we had a confirmation email was staggering. We didn’t film the whole encounter but I wish we had. 👍
A sad end to your great adventure, but subsequent events have proved you made absolutely the right decision. We love exploring Spain, and usually take the overnight ferry from Portsmouth or Plymouth to Santander, It's a very relaxed crossing, and it takes you directly to a beautiful part of Spain. Ideal for visiting Portugal too!

It was so lovely to watch these videos of France and Spain (pre covid). I almost had a tear in my eye when you had to go home early. Life really has changed and I hope you get to do this trip again.
Thank you Eleanor for your lovely comment. It was a hard decision to make and we were very sad to cut short our adventure. We definitely want to go back to Spain when we can and enjoy some winter sun in the future ☀️😀
Absolutely loved this series of vlogs, always calm even under extreme circumstances - no drama here. Seen places I would love to visit ( not so sure about some of those mountain roads) well done 👍 they are all so professionally presented and edited. Thanks Sandra. Covid robbed us of that trip. I keep thinking about the videos that never got made. The roads were hairy for sure but being so small made it easier. We are looking forward to completing that trip at some point. 👍

Such a shame your adventures had to be cut short. I wouldn’t bother getting winter tyres, if they’re available for the NV200, take a look at Michelin CrossClimate tyres. They’re absolutely fantastic! x
Yes I would love a set of those cross climate tyres but they just don’t make them for our van. I want them so I can take the van to places where we will certainly encounter snow. Winter tyres are compulsory along with snow chains in some places. I could fit bigger wheels but Nissan advised against that. Still pondering this one 👍
Such a shame the trip had to be cut short and so very strange to watch this 1 year on with all the things (or rather lack of things I suppose) that have happened in that year.
I hope you get to do another trip soon and I can recommend Gibraltar if you haven't been before. Very interesting place.
We can’t believe over a year has gone by since we cut short our trip to Spain and we are still in another lockdown. We will definitely get back to Spain one day so thanks for your recommendation 👍🙂

Hello there - have only recently found your video channel and want to say thank you for taking me to places I would never ever be able to visit in a van due to major eye problems. As it is I have been able to sit in front of my pc with a cup of tea / can of cider and thorougly enjoy your travelling escapades - Even given me some cooking ideas!! I have just looked at the France & Spain final part and glad you were able to get home before everything closed down. I like your sticker in your windshield that showed which side of the road you were on. We could have used that on past trips to England. I'm glad you are traveling again and looking forward to seeing if you trade vans or keep the one you have.

Had the same issue with the caravan club booking so book direct with Eurotunnel next time.
I don’t think we will book a return crossing next time either. For our Ireland trip we booked direct with the ferry company. I think it was cheaper than through the caravan club as well!

Well first Ireland and now France and Spain. What a god dam awful return journey you both had. Have to add, loving watching the meals you cook. Checked out the Ridge Monkey on Amazon today. Yes we will make a video about the van and how we live in it. The day we left the mountain was supposed to be when we were doing that but it got dropped. Now we are back we will do it. 👍

Hello Pirates! :) Totally feel you in this! The same happened to me, had to cancel my Ireland trip this March due to Covid and I am still missing my better half - Éire. :( I've been planning that visit for so long and right before the departure had to make the toughest decision. Still makes my heart ache, but your Ireland videos gave an ease to the wound. Hopefully next year I can go. :)

I've been from France to England on a train but didn't know if cars would be ferried or if they had a tunnel too. Too much traffic these days not to have a tunnel I guess. I'd be a very nervous driver on that tunnel.
The tunnel is great. You just sit in your car for half an hour and drive off. 👍

Thank you Ken & Carol, for a great series. As has been said - a pity to cut your trip short. We have just purchased a 2nd hand little red NV200 Vacanza, and are looking forward to 'going wild' (after The virus). I note that you used park4night to find locations to stop. Did you use other apps?
Hi Kevin. Thanks for your comment. We have tried a few others including one called search for sights. I think Park 4 night has more listings and its currently our preferred app. Browsing google maps satellite view also works and is more likely to get you a place on your own 👍

I pay an annual subscription to Artlist for licences to use the music tracks and just pick what I think is suitable for the video and the emotion I want to convey.
What is that EuroTunnel? Is that a train you get aboard? Quite an experience you had!!
It’s a train that goes in a tunnel under the English Channel between Folkestone in England and Calais in France. You drive into the carriage and stay in your vehicle for the journey which takes about 30 minutes 🙂

We have gas heating which blows warm air. Controlled by a thermostat. Its very comfortable. Check out our review video for more details 👍

just wondered why you didn't go back to the uk via santander or bilbao instead of the channel tunnel?
Gemma Kate main reason was isolation. At that time the risk was probably very low but I get chest infections pretty easily and didn’t want to risk getting stuck on a ship like they were on the Diamond Princess. The beauty of the van is its easy to avoid contact if you need to and the tunnel is on 35 minutes in your own vehicle. 👍
Was it easy to find places to shower in France and Spain?
Its very easy to find places for a shower in most places we visit. On this trip we wild camped everywhere with the exception of one night in that campsite where the ticket machine was broken. There were no showers there. How did we stay clean ? Good old all over flannel washes. It works fine 👍
Omg how rude are the French Euro tunnel, i could see the stress in your faces straight away .not a good place to be in when all you want to do is get home ..so sorry covid robbed your adventure 😢
