I got Warcraft 1 for Christmas '94 when I was 12 years old, it completely changed my interest in video games forever. These days, every once in a while I still Google "Warcraft 4" in hopes there's some news I missed out on... there never is.
It's so tragicomical that it's better moneymaking for Blizzard to just remaster old games with minimal effort, than to create something new. "The most resilient customers, in the world"
I let my AI have a crack at that poem: Griselda the Orc and Her Ogre Beau In a forest deep, where the shadows grow, Lived Griselda the orc and her ogre beau. A love so fierce, it defied all lore, A bond that legends would soon adore. Griselda, strong with her emerald skin, Wielded her axe with a champion’s grin. Her heart, though rugged, beat tender and true, For an ogre named Drog, with eyes sky-blue. Drog, the gentle giant of the wood, Towered above where the old oaks stood. His fists could fell the mightiest tree, But his touch was soft as a summer breeze. They met by chance on a moonlit night, Griselda on guard, prepared for a fight. But Drog simply smiled, with a flower in hand, A gesture so sweet, it broke down her stand. He spoke not of war, nor of spoils to reap, But of stars above and rivers deep. Griselda, bemused, let her axe fall low, As she listened to tales of the world Drog did know. Their days were filled with wild delights, Hunting by day, dancing by nights. Griselda taught Drog the orcish roar, While Drog showed her ways of herb and lore. But whispers traveled, as whispers do, Of the love between the green and blue. Her father, the warlord, with fury untamed, Declared her a traitor, her honor defamed. One fateful dawn, as the fog held tight, The clash of boots disturbed the night. Orcish troops, with weapons drawn, Came to end the love that had caused such scorn. Griselda and Drog, side by side, Faced the onslaught, unbowed in their pride. Her axe sang loud; his fists struck true, But their foes were many, their moments few. As Drog fell first with a thunderous cry, Griselda roared, her heart torn by the sky. She fought until her strength was gone, And fell by her lover, her life's breath withdrawn. The forest wept where their blood was sown, And a legend grew from seeds unknown. For where they perished, flowers now bloom, A testament to love that defied its doom. Now the orcs tell tales by the firelight’s glow, Of Griselda the brave and her ogre beau. Her father’s troops returned with shame, And the warlord himself bore the blame. For love, though fleeting, will outlast might, And its memory burns like eternal light. In the forest deep, where the shadows grow, Their spirits guard the earth below.
Fun fact: When the Warlocks took over and forged the Orc clans into the Horde, many Orc children were magically aged by the Warlocks to fighting age. Blackhand's three children, Rend, Maim, and Griselda, were among those children. However, Griselda was not as naturally talented a fighter as her brothers. Intending to shame her, Griselda was not permitted by her father to drink the Blood of Mannoroth.
Eh, sounds like retcon rubbish, since they shortened the length of the great wars. They probably just introduced magic aging to explain why certain characters grew up.
@@ericstaples7220 Of course it's retcons - the very concept of the Blood of Mannoroth is a product of one of the bigger retcons to Warcraft in general, the idea that the Orcs were not always demon-worshipping evil monsters.
One of my most vivid memories is being 7 and reading the tech tree and info booklet for StarCraft 1 on the way home from school after being “sick.” I was not sick.
I heard Blizzard was never planning on remaking WC1&2 but I am glad they decided to at least remaster them. The original WC1 was rough to play but I loved WC2 during my childhood. Warcraft II refined things a lot of rough things WC1 had including selecting 9 units instead of 4 units (so glad the remaster lets you select more than 4 units in WC1 Remaster), you can click and hold to create a selectable box instead of holding CTRL to create selectable box, and gives you enough good in each scenario compared to how tightly difficult WC1 was with its small amount of gold in gold mines that if you made too many mistakes (even small mistakes can cost you big), you would have to restart the scenario over and over again. So yeah, I would be excited to see you play Warcraft II Remastered. And I'm glad Warcraft I Remaster fixes some of the jankiness the original had and has some quality-of-life improvements like 12 selectable units instead of 4 is huge! I might have to pick up the remastered collection someday.
If you didn’t figure it out, the damage numbers units do in Warcraft 1 are variable, with Human units balanced around small average variance and Orc units with higher highs and lower lows. This tops out with the summoned units where the Orc Demon does like 1-65 and the Human Water Elemental always does 40.
Also. the Demon causes Basic Damage, allowing his attack to vary from 1 to 65, while the Water Elemental Does 40 Piercing Damage, meaning they will Ignore Armour (To Age of Empires II DE Players, this is like Composite Bowmen or Leitis, both units ignore the victim's armour)
Did Blizzard at this point has remastered every old game at this point? One game remains I believe is to be remastered Rock'n Roll Racing, and maybe one other game I forgot.
Jesus... wtf? I heard warcraft remastered and I was excited but this is just low... I already own the originals on BNET why would I want a really ugly ai upscaled version...
I could not hate these graphics choices more. There's no tall pixels factored into the graphics like the original, so it comes out looking even worse than the original. This is the second half-assed Warcraft reboot Blizzard has failed at, Diablo is boring, redundant, broken bs already, they're still milking WoW for all it's worth....I mean, give us a freaking break. Being a Blizzard customer is beginning to feel like what I imagine being an Eagles fan must feel like.
Never seen you before, don't care about ads, but you having a meltdown for several minutes because someone said they felt three minutes straight of ads was excessive ensures I won't be watching you again. You depend on viewers to make money and showing disdain for them is showing YOUR sense of entitlement.

is there multiplayer in the remastered version? if so, are there players playing lol
@@trollala_555 no apparently the multiplayer was removed from the remastered version, although number 2 has multiplayer from what I have read.
"STOP POKING MEEE!" First RTS game i ever played. Love this game.

Modern WoW and OW 2 prolly their most money makers.
Or even add some new missions via DLC
I recently started playing Warcraft 1: Remastered and am having an absolute blast. Definitely fun to relive the Blizzard classics!

[Zug-zug!] Intensifies
The two orcs sitting at the table during the mission briefing used to be animated...wtf happened?
Clearly the remastered briefing screen is such a high resolution that they'd need a quantum supercomputer to redo the animations 😂
AI upscaling.
They removed the animation...
Lol they didn't add attack move for a while... you're in the wrong decade, my friend. I think they started with patrols
Right?! Lowko can be lucky that he can even select several units at once! Dune 2 didnt have this amazing feature! ^^

My first pc game... Next to red alert, prince of Persia and SimCity.... The nostalgia
The instruction books and charts were awesome
One of my most vivid memories is being 7 and reading the tech tree and info booklet for StarCraft 1 on the way home from school after being “sick.”
I was not sick.
I still have my Warcraft 1 book from when I got the game for Xmas '94... good times indeed
So ... is this the start of Lowko plays all WarCraft Strategy Games? Starting with 1 and ending it with WC 3 TFT ?

In the original you could only select 4 units, made it much more difficult
play Age of Mythology Retold?
Omg Lowko. You have never been played WC1. How young you are... 😁
Good for you. This was the second rts I've played after Dune2.
lol, same... oh my goood

pro tip: If you keep clicking on the same unit over and over again, they'll start saying some really funny stuff.
I had this thought 3 mins in
@Babelphish Sire, why do you keep touching me?
Warcraft mentioned!!
17:08 When sword attack sounds got rhythm.
This is super fun having played this as a kid and watching you go in cold
Omg you can get more than one unit at a time !
This takes me back😂😂
Nooooo Lowko. Wow is worst than crack. You will get addicted. I haven’t played it for 10 years and I still wake up wanting to play it.
Hush Mr projector.
Did Blizzard at this point has remastered every old game at this point? One game remains I believe is to be remastered Rock'n Roll Racing, and maybe one other game I forgot.
I remember Blizzard re-releasing Lost Vikings, Rock n Roll Racing and Blackthorne for the GBA.
Rock'n Roll Racing is remastered in the Blizzard Arcade Collection. The SNES rom in the game files refers to itself as the Definitive Edition.
The machine gun sounding drums samples take me back.
OMG. Watching you play this game is literally painful...
You can right click on wc1 now? It might be playable
That cliffhanger tho
Jesus... wtf? I heard warcraft remastered and I was excited but this is just low... I already own the originals on BNET why would I want a really ugly ai upscaled version...
HEY GUYS I BOUGHT THIS GAME
I WAS LOOKING FOR WARLOCK AND CONJURER BUT BOULDNT FOUND THEM WHY IS THAT?
you could have completed the mission in this episode

You need to take a breath and just exit gaming.
@Pardude You need to quit running around on the internet telling people what to do. Aren't you missing an HOA meeting or something?
Warcraft 2 was the best Warcraft.
Aren't the backgrounds suppose to animate, but it doesn't because it's just AI upscaling?
Another lazy remaster, sigh. How many years will this take to get this fixed?
😶🌫️

I was so angry when I found out it was all just done with AI upscalling. I would have bought it otherwise.
