SCP 2678 is an extradimensional space solely accessible to those holding Catholic beliefs through a previously barred door in the basement of the Siena Cathedral in Siena, Italy. A metal placard beside the door reads "SCP Foundation Department of Abnormalities". Those who enter the SCP2678 doorway will emerge into a small outpost located on the outskirts of a city in Italian Gothic architecture style floating in a red-orange void.

I think the pipes hold the boy more literally.
When the note is held for to long, he is forced to keep singing, hence the panicking tone. If forced to hold a note for too long, he will suffocate, breaking the key that was made from his bone ...

As an italian guy, I really appreciate the effort to write in italian to increase the realism of the setting, despite the fact that only a few may notice the difference. One of the best channels on this platform!

I have to admit that out of all the SCPs I've ever watched and read about, this one was the most depressing and heartbreaking for some reasons
Yeah I know right it's also not that scary. I like the more realistic and non scary SCPs (you know like actual locations in the real world, like the door to the cathedral demention in the cellar of the cathedral in Italy)

*Not-so-fun fact:* It is heavily implied that this SCP, like any other Department of Abnormality-related article, is related with a well-known SCP article. For this one, SCP-2678 is related to SCP-012 (A Bad Composition); an unfinished musical score that compels anyone around it to continue writing it with their own blood. Coincidentally, the title of the 012 composition is named, "On Mount Golgotha".

@@rollerjumps he told everyone to go straight home that night so they'd all be going their seperate ways and on a predictable route. He himself likely worked for that splinter-cell SCP lab at one point and went into the city of blood as a researcher, left, and became a priest that slowly becomes a servant of the city of blood. Thats also what's probably happening to the new researches that did it too, what with them slowly becoming more and more religious and secretive.

This SCP seems to represent the history of sexual abuse in the Catholic Church that has been buried under the church. The boys pelvic bones were missing. The organ plays their innocence, which is why it does not rain blood, but water/tears when notes are played. The whole foundation/city was built by the boys bones and the rain is their blood staining the church/city for its crimes. Times spent there makes agents very religious, and they won't tell on fellow agents. Meaning they would ignore abuse and kept silent.

These SCP Stories keep getting better and better everytime. 👏 There's an old folklore in the Caribbean about babies who died in child birth and toddlers which passes of unnatural causes. They are called Dwends. It is said that their bodies resurrect exactly 30 days after death and the spirits of those who were abandoned would haunt the dreams of the parents or people responsible for their death for a year. They appear exactly the way they look when they die but one cannot tell whether they're coming or going because their heads are turned backwards. The only way to rid oneself of the nightmares or visions is to perform a formal funeral service and to bury the all belongings to the child.

Fan theory: the keys are actually the boys whose gone missing, every voice that plays after pressing the keys are actually the boys's voice, when the key finally gets destroyed after being pressed for so long, the organ needs to be replaced, and there comes to replace the damaged keys and voices.
When the foundation finally recognized It, they immediatly ceased all studies and cealed the entrance, fearing that the scp killing boys because of the experiments due to the keys destruction would somehow be brought public.
Another theory: the Priest we see in the beginning is actually a second instance of the cathedral, whose purpose is to obtain the boys to replace or even expand the city.
That explains the dark figure the boy sees when returning home

My theory: the city was built by the daveites, and was used for there sacrifices. They used there dark magic to make it eternally rain blood from the sky, and used the leftovers of there victims to make the organ, and trapping the souls in the organ, forcing the souls to sing when a key is touched. thus why the key bled/broke. As for the scp abnormality room, it was used by researchers in a previous life before a xk class world ending scenario happened. The anomaly was abandoned. Then when the human race was destroyed, scp 2000 activated and brought everyone back. Hence why the abnormality center was never found in the Foundations databanks.

I feel like the the city is made from the human bones, while the notes are the souls from the kidnapped males. In other words, they use their bones as material to build the city, while they keep their souls to use as a melody.

I have a theory, that someone who got affected by this SCP or someone else were undergoing to fix the organ by physical use the specific choir singer’s part. Hint the the organ key break and permanently un use. What hinting about this SCP is the blood rain, that when a tune is play, it change the blood rain to regular rain. Maybe the goal of someone who kidnapping choir to fix the organ is to play the complete music for the cathedral.
The question is did the doa (department of anomalies) cut the organ, or was it found like that, maybe they where cut to keep something worse from happening, maybe if all of the tubes are fixed, and you play a spacific song (my theory is if you manage to play the unfinished composition), something grand will happen

Fun Fact For Those Who Don't Know: SCP-2678 used to be a fifthist anomaly known as "The Vorehole". I'll let you learn about it yourself (though it's an adult article), but one of the authors had requested it to be deleted some time ago.

My theory is that this entity was first discovered by the Italian SCP foundation, hence the metal sign
There were no records and when the Foundation tried to enter into the files of that old fashioned computer that required ID registration, none of the attempts worked.
That's probably just a remnant SCP from an XK scenario in which the universe got rebooted, but that SCP got unnaffected and thus, it remained the same, with it's old equipment. But who knows why that SCP and its entrance got unnaffected.

My conclusion:
The priest did it. Somewhat similar to Dr. Hannibal Lecter's social position as an intellectual grants him a certain level of respect. The priest instructed the boy to head home, it's easier to set a trap if Intel is provided. I'm going to say it's a coincidence the victim dissapeared during the rain (The rain is possibly a portal), need more details.
The whole Scp is an allegory to the real world wrong doings of the catholic church. Essentially people in higher position abusing their power to... well, abuse choir boys and using the protection of the church to get away with it.

I think that scp-2678 might have been build by a human but the strange part is...how did that person build thoses churches and cathedrals in a short time? Thats the weird part, but maybe there's an anomally source on the city all of blood that makes the bones turn into pillars and objects of the church, quickly. Also, the part of the pipe organ probably makes the conscience, inside of the person's mind, follow the path of religion because maybe that will make him follow the good path and also make him commit no sin. As an auntie of 5 boys, this honestly chilled my blood. What kind of people could allow a young boy to walk home by himself on a cold rainy night, especially if there’s been cases of other boys going missing?? In this scenario, either family or the church should arrange for those boys to be supervised on their journey home. If we don’t protect our children, how can we ever hope for a promising future? 😥🤷♀️

I really enjoyed SCP 2678. I tip my hat for the effort to write in Italian. A key to understanding the SCP lies in Catholic (Medieval / Renaissance) theology and of course the Anomalies Department. In Dante's poem "Purgatory" nel Canto ⬜️⬜️⬜️ we can read ⬜️⬜️⬜️⬜️⬜️ è intero ⬜️⬜️⬜️⬜️⬜️. We can also read elsewhere Sangue sitisti, e io di sangue t’empio. Conclusion : it can be SCP⬜️⬜️⬜️⬜️ and SCP ⬜️⬜️⬜️ related.
This would make a great movie
I think this SCP is meant to be a manifestation of mankind's corruption of the Catholic faith. The music induces higher respect towards authority figures to the point they won't report them for crimes as well as disdain towards those of lower economic standing. It could be seen as a metaphor for the Catholic faith demanding obedience as well as people like TV televangelist using people's faith to make money off of them.
I also can't think of a less subtle metaphor for the church's corruption than the fact that this place literally preys on choir boys.
It all reads like a deliberate metaphor for corruption within the Catholic church and if this place wasn't spawn from that corruption, I can only imagine whoever built it did it as a massive middle finger to Catholicism or Christianity in general.

my theory for this is the boys captured are extracted of their vocal cords/souls and placed into the organ by another figure that could be a shadow of the priest and then brought into it and placed in it and just like how deterioration works the vocal chords/souls fade away soon enough after and break, requiring the figure to go fetch another boy specifically for that note.

Man this one was so tantalizing but I was let down upon seeing it as an abnormalities anomaly bc theyre always deliberately given no answers. I like SCP to have SOME answers, not everything explained in massive detail but I think it takes more skill to explain a lot and leave some unexplained as opposed to just having it all be a mystery.
I mean the story at the start doesn’t even get an explanation to how it’s related to the city of blood.

SCP-2213: Jeff’s soul/ Jeff wants to play
SCP 2213 is a minecraft dark figure with green eyes and blood is drooling out of the left eye. He has sharp claws on his fingers. He will react in a backwards and loud voice like “Em debrutsid uoy” when he is hit or obused by others. Also, his eyes will react by turning red if they get hurt. SCP 2213-1 is SCP 2213’s resting place which is a computer, this computer will turn on every time a person stands in the room it’s in. I wonder if that organ is ever 'finished' with the voices from the souls of those children...that it will somehow abduct someone to orchestrate and play that organ for all eternity without going over one single key note's limit in order to keep the rain pure and eventually wash away the blood?

I suspect this SCP is a metaphor for the Church’s sordid history of abuse and cover-up of same. The fact that foundation members exposed to it start turning a blind eye to crimes committed by their colleagues is a bit of a tip-off.

This SCP, if I were to theorize:
Is an allegory of gothic horror, and the behaviours of relgious people commiting very dangerous crimes associated with minors.
Why say this? The answer lies with the churches. Built out of bones and saturated in the blood of those sacrificed in the name of "being excused by god", more specifically, I mean those who abuse their faith as a means to excuse any sort of wrongdoing.
The Shadow Man? An emissary for one of those churches
The Churches? Emblematic of Gothic horror and the widespread popularity of Roman Catholicism in Europe so long ago.
Palaces? Higher beings. Kings, Priests, Archbishops....all of which were addicted to the religion and used it as a GOOJF card.
The missing children? Used for the pipe organ and MADE into the organ.
The Blood Rain and Regular rain? Blood and tears that excessive devotion costs them. The Blood Rain implies the violence that went on there. The regular rain is emblatic of purity, but also the tears of those who forever mourn their lost angels.
As for the Department? Possibly from an alternate SCP foundation that existed years ago
