Prof. Mia Swart on private prosecution

Adv. Gerrie Nel, from the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) is a household name to many South Africans. The man is known for putting Oscar Pistorius and the like of the later former national police commissioner, Jackie Selebi in jail. Two days ago, Nel resigned from the NPA to join the Afri-forum, a political party, to pursue their private prosecutions. Joining us this morning is Prof. Mia Swart from the department of Law at the University of Johannesburg. She will explain to us what private prosecution is.
